Meanwhile, in New York, Olivia (Neve Campbell) and Philip (Jesse L.
1.6 KASHMIR

THE PHILANTHROPIST
KASHMIR
08-05-2009 10:00PM

Teddy (James Purefoy) and Philip’s (Jesse L. Martin) college friend, Rhada Shivpuri (guest star Sarita Choudhury), asks for their help to delicately negotiate with both the Indian and Pakistani governments in an attempt to rebuild the region’s water system and reopen the ‘The Line of Control’ which divides the ancient land of Kashmir in two. The border restricts trade between India and Pakistan and Rhada hopes, with Teddy and Philip’s help, water will be transported to put an end to the severe draught suffered by both countries in the Kashmiri region. Their mission spirals out of control when militants wage an attack on Mumbai, halting their business plan. In an effort to get their operation back on track, Teddy heads into Kashmir on his own but in the process, lands himself in mortal danger. With Teddy missing, Philip and Dax (Michael Kenneth Williams) lead the manhunt to find their friend while Olivia (Neve Campbell) and AJ (lindy Booth) sit anxiously by the phone in New York, praying Teddy will be found in one piece.

Show Cast: James Purefoy, Jesse L.
Renewal/Cancellation posts

I love this show - funny, smart, enjoyable, great acting, great writing, high production value.

It will never survive.

It doesn't fit the mold - it's not about cops, firemen, paramedics, lawyers or doctors. NBC has proven they don't care about quality TV - they have canceled or toyed with canceling several excellent shows like Kings, Chuck, Friday Night Lights and Life (cop show but wrapped in a larger mystery).

I give it 4 more episodes before NBC cancels it.

Off Topic / OT

Letitia and I started a conversation on Croatia in the Myanmar episode thread, and rather than take things there too far OT, I've opened this thread for others to engage in conversations which deal with subjects outside the series.

So, back to Croatia, I spent 4 days in Dubrovnik on my last trip, I was lucky enough to get an apartment near one of the towers inside the walled city itself, something I recommend over hotels wherever you stay in Croatia. The apartment I stayed in was a little one bedroom with a livingroom, kitchen, inside patio, and roof terrace. I was told too, that during the seige bombings that the terrace took something like a dozen hits, but, like much of the city, the restoration is amazing.

Sibenik is one of my favorite towns, I love their "Old Town" with it's stone buildings and cobbled streets, and like Dubrovnik, it sits on the Mediterranean. I have a favorite apartment I stay when there too, and were I to move, I'm sure it would be to somewhere in that southern Dalmatian region.

My last visit I also spent time in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar, a very quiet little town. I think that's what I like about the entire southern area in general, the slower pace they seem to flow with.

I counter that with visits to Zagreb which is where my friends all live. It's the capital city, very busy, and always active, totally the opposite of down south.

My next trip I want to visit the Roman ruins up around Pula, as well as make the drive to Vukovar, something I've wanted to do with each trip, but, have never quite managed for one reason or another.

JD

1.5 Kosovo

THE PHILANTHROPIST
KOSOVO
07-22-2009 10:00PM

Teddy takes his ex-wife, Julia Rist (Krista Allen), on a journey as he tells her about his business venture to Kosovo, a country full of depression and poverty since the 1990s when the Serbian army attacked the Albanian Muslims, who make up the majority of the population. In a series of flashbacks, Teddy addresses the locals in Kosovo, explaining that his company would like to invest money in a bauxite halloysite mine which will not only be profitable for Maidstone-Rist but will ensure them a better future. Teddy wants the Serbians and Albanians to work together at the mine and start a business that will better the lives of all those who populate Kosovo. As the Serbians and Albanians refuse to pull together, it’s clear their hatred runs deeper than Teddy first thought. AJ (lindy Booth) and Philip (Jesse L. Martin) worry Teddy has bitten off more than he can chew.

Show Cast: James Purefoy, Jesse L.

I am blown away that there is already a "negative" comments area for this show. When I saw that I just had to start a "positive" thread.

Watching the pilot episode I laughed, cried and laughed again. The cast is remarkable, not to mention great looking, and the writing was clever, humorous and moving. James Purefoy seemed like he had been Teddy Rist for a very long time.

Anyway, I'll shut up and just say I hope others feel the same and will post here.

Thanks!
