3/6/07

Hello again to my extra-ordinary friends,

It’s been seven episodes since we've last spoken, and our heroes have come a long way -- Peter learned to control his abilities; Matt teamed up with Ted Sprague to find answers to his questions; Claire witnessed the sacrifice her adopted father was willing to make to protect her; Niki and Jessica have battled for control over their life with Micah and DL; Sylar escaped from Primatech Paper to claim new victims.

You've now just seen episode 18, and at its conclusion we've left our heroes in peril -- HRG's plan to protect Claire has been discovered by Thompson; Isaac is staring at paintings of his own death; Hiro and Ando have transported to the future five years after the bomb's explosion; Nathan is pondering an offer from Linderman that will make him President of the United States; and Peter is moments away from becoming Sylar’s latest victim.

HEROES will be taking a short break, but when we return with new episodes on April 23, we know you'll agree that it’s been worth the wait. You'll see which of our characters escape from the danger they're in, you'll learn more about Linderman's involvement in our characters lives, and you'll even see a glimpse of what the future will be like if our heroes fail to stop the explosion in New York City. In the meantime, here are some answers to questions that you've asked:

Zach Quinto, who portrays Sylar, has been, in my opinion, an important aspect to the series. Are there plans to make him a series regular?

Look for Sylar's character to continue on in season two.

Are there any plans to introduce new, long-lasting female characters?

You've just met Candice, our master of illusion, who may be sticking around to team up with an unexpected character. There are also plans for another major female character for next season.

Is there any real significance to Mr. Bennet's glasses?

Because his character had very few lines in the pilot, and needed to be recognizable, we gave him a distinct pair of glasses. I also liked that they had a distinct early days of the CIA look to them. Very "Company Man".

There are many books, magazines, shows, movies, all about people with super human abilities. Do you feel you are creating a new way of looking into what it means to be super human?

We are looking at heroes as though they are ordinary people living in the real world. If you woke up one morning and discovered you had a fantastic ability, what would you do? Embrace it like Hiro, ignore it like Nathan, or abuse it like Sylar?

Keep watching!

To My Extra-ordinary Friends,

After a short break, it's great to be back on the air with new episodes. We hope you're as excited to see the next block of episodes as we are to show them to you! Now that episode 12 has just aired, we've seen our heroes set off on new quests: Hiro must retrieve the samurai sword from Linderman to regain control of his powers, Claire must find new allies now that her father can't be trusted, D.L. and Micah must learn to survive with Niki behind bars, and Suresh must seek out the heroes on his father's list before HRG does.

With all these new adventures, there's plenty of exciting moments in store and even new heroes for you to meet. You've already seen Hana, the woman who plucks electronic signals out of thin air, visited Ted in his desert hideaway. But there are more extraordinary individuals just around the corner: a mentor who will help Peter cope with his unstable abilities, a mother who will be reunited with her daughter, and some other surprising characters in the episodes ahead.

In the first half of the season our heroes saved the cheerleader, now they have to save the world. But with so many dangers lurking about, who exactly do they have to save the world from? Peter with visions of going nuclear in New York City? Ted who wants revenge for what HRG did to him and his wife? Or Sylar who won't stay captive much longer?

Keep watching!

Tim Kring

I'm still a bit confused about some things. not sure if i missed something, but how is it that Sylar had his powers when he pulled Eden through the glass? Was the Haitian around when Mr Bennett talked to him and he was just fooled to believe his powers didn't work? from last night's episode it wasn't clear to me how is it that they still have Sylar captured. I would've thought he had escaped after killing Eden. On that note, did he actually killed Eden? one of the posts on the forum suggests she killed herself so that Sylar wouldn't have her power. as the gun pointed to her face she was struglling and Sylar did say something as to "once i have your power...", but still not clear on that. does anyone have any ideas on this?

I don't think they showed what happened after Eden died. So it is going to be a mystery for a while on how they recaptured Sylar. Maybe it will come up in a future episode.

these novels are very good at filling in the gaps the show leaves behind. i would recommend reading each and every one of them.

'godsend' didn't seem to address much of the issues around eden's death. there's just so many story lines playing out right now, they've probably got their job cut of for them trying to figure out how to edit this show. case in point would be that 1:30 sneak preview with hana and ted meeting each other... seemed to be a pretty straight forward deleted scene.

That's right. You do have to read the online thing and watch the program and even read Hiro's blog for some insights.

I've got a question:

Where did this idea come from?

And have you read the verses in Matthew 24: 23-25 which seems to speak about people with similar such powers?

And what do you think about the probability that the powers come not from "Evolution" but from the fact that we are created in the image of God, and were originally made with spiritual & psychic abilities. -Abilities which have in recent times (and previous ones) been awakened by destructive spiritual beings who know that for the most part, we are not capable of handling such abilities.

And I am on the real list.

How is that passage relevant to the television show Heroes?

24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25: Behold, I have told you before.

The Nephilim are a curiosity.

I picked the name because I saw a post by a person named Minerva2 who was talking about "Heroes as Myth". I immediately thought of this nic. I don't know why but I registered it.

Some translations use the term "giant" though in the greek and hebrew this is not to be found. The term used in the greek is 'gigantes' which merely means 'of the earth'. Uncertain though it remains so some have chosen to not translate so it appears as 'nephilim'.

"Heroes" reminded me of some of our legends of old about the battles between shamans and others with powers. Oh, I'm a native american...I grew up listening to the myths and legends of old.

"Heroes" simply impressed me so I have been watching it faithfully and reading the online comic and Hiro's blog.

Some friends and I have been talking about the characters and who they reminded us of in the legends. lol.

There are plenty of others on here that have impressed me but Minerva2 had posted "Heroes As Myth" thread which compelled me to register and so here I am.

An excellent series so far. It has something that everyone will appreciate.

Like the Matrix it is not limited to any religion or culture and yet it is almost truly open-minded

Everyone is subject to their own opinions. Some want gays in the show, others don't. Don't get mad at people who don't want gays in the show-- it's just their personal opinion, just like it's you're opinion for gays.

Here's the thing. I'm not going to keep watching. When you have more commercials than show, its disrespectful to your audience. Shame on you. I liked the show, but no more for me, I don't like being taken advantage of by your greed. Guess I'll have to check out 24.

Heroes=1 hour of slotted TV time.
1 hour=60 minutes
Of those 60 minutes, no more than approximately 15-20 are devoted to advertising.
That leaves 40-45 minutes left of actual show.
15-20<40-45
Thus, to claim that there are more commercials than show is, at best, a tremendous exaggeration.
To leave the show over a tremendous exaggeration is, itself, disrespectful to both the show and the audience.

eeler1...I hate to tell you this, but chances are 24, or any other hour long show you watch will have the same number of commercials. The commercials suck, I agree, but they are a necissary evil. The show, if you have watched from episode one, is worth watchig if there were twice as many commercials. Maybe hop on the web and watch episodes one up until now,and see if you aren't addicted and waiting for next week's show. If it doesn't hook you in, then maybe the show is not for you. I would hate for you to miss out on a great show because of those dam commercials.

Although I agree that all shows have too much advertising, I don't think it's something we just have to lay down and take. The FCC was created in 1934 under the Communications Act. In that Act, it was stated that the airwaves belong to the public, and that the use of the public airwaves for commercial purposes would be granted only on certain conditions. One was that the networks had to provide a service to the community. Generally, this is why we have news departments. Another condition, however, was that the amount of time per hour that was sold commercially was limited. It was approximately 20 mins per hour for a long, long time... until Ronald Reagan became President and decided to begin deregulating the FCC. Since then, the amount of time per hour alloted to commercials has crept up steadily, and although I haven't recently timed it myself, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were half of every hour. Perhaps viewers should (a) time it for themselves and then (b)contact your Congressional representatives to begin REREGULATING THE FCC.

I, on the other hand, have timed the commercials. I've never seen them take more than 20 minutes, ever, during a single hour. Most of the time, it falls between 15 and 20 minutes.
I'm not saying we have to like it, but that's the way it is. It certainly hasn't climbed up to 30 minutes and above.
