I bee the size of a mini Cooper just landed in an azalea blossom on the bush outside my dining room window. It practically blocked the Sun, it is that big! The branch the flower is on literally bent down under its weight. How does something that size remain airborne? It reminds me of Heimlich, the fat German caterpillar from "A Bug's Life". Remember him? Always eating something, wound up eating part of the bird puppet at the end, then turned into a butterfly with teeny wings.

Holy smokes, that's a huge bee!

Fun NBC fact: Hayden Panettiere, the cheerleader in Heroes, was the voice of Dot, the littlest ant princess.

This is most cool. It was on the CNN website.

JERUSALEM (AP) -- An Israeli archaeologist has found the tomb of King Herod, the legendary builder of ancient Jerusalem and the Holy Land, Hebrew University said late Monday.

The tomb is at a site called Herodium, a flattened hilltop in the Judean Desert, clearly visible from southern Jerusalem. Herod built a palace on the hill, and researchers discovered his burial site there, the university said.

The university had hoped to keep the find a secret until Tuesday, when it planned a news conference to disclose the find in detail, but the Haaretz newspaper found out about the discovery and published an article on its Web site.

Hi, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth - really!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. I went to Canada on vacation, got a puppy, got a sinus infection and them this past Friday my mom had to have emergency surgery to remove part of her colon due to diverticulitus. She's still in the hospital and seems to be improving every day but she's got a temporary colostomy for the next few months. She'll have to have a second surgery in the late summer to remove the colostomy. I'm hoping she'll come home this weekend but she'll need lots of help when she gets home. So, if you don't hear from me for a while don't worry - I'm still around and I still love VDO & CI smile.gif I'd love to know if anyone else has gone through this illness and or a colostomy becuase this is new territory for me and my family. Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated!!!!! Thx Vikki

Vikki, I have Crohn's Disease, I had one for 6 months. I will PM you my e-mail address, and your Mom is more than welcome to my experiences. I can make some suggestions I hope. I had no one to ask and had to learn on my own. She can get the home nurse, I had mine of months. ComCare was my nursing group. Hang on I will PM you! Tell her to hang in there, it is a shock, but it will be okay! I promise!
Mari

Hope all the mom's on this board are having a great Mothers Day...for some reason it's celebrated in March in the UK, though Father's Day is celebrated in June universally.

In Australia. Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May and Father's Day is the first Sunday of September.

In 1984, I celebrated Mother's Day by giving birth to my third child, Michael. He is not too happy dry.gif that he has to share his day with his mum's day. lol. aawww biggrin.gif

So in the UK, Mothers are celebrated earlier in the year. That's cool! smile.gif

So, in Australia, dad's have to wait a little longer for their celebration. Interesting how countries celebrate the same holidays but in different months.

I hope that you enjoyed your Mother's day and that your son enjoyed his birthday! smile.gif

I hit a peacock on my drive to work this morning.

Strike that. Reverse it.

A peacock hit my car on my way to work this morning. Is NBC trying to tell me something?

WHAT is a peacock doing in rural central New Jersey? And what is it doing flying across the road at 6 in the morning? Did it have something important to tell another peacock on the other side of Rt. 524? Was there a sale at the Pork Roll store? (Yeah, we have an entire store for just pork roll.)

I know that birds preen all day to keep their feathers in good condition. I know that THAT bird must have preened recently because of the greasy smudge it left on my windshield. Nothing particularly pretty about that smudge, mind you. No feather pieces. Just a big greezy schmutz.

And can we discuss that non-aerodynamic tail?!

LOL!!!!

Something in your posts must have ticked off TPTB. So typically Peacock in the planning and execution..."We'll send Vinnie to take her out when she's driving to work; he'll be sure to make it look like an accident!...What's that? Her car weighs how much? Hey, who was in charge of research on this one?!"

This is sounding suspiciously like a Monty Python sketch with a one pound bird not being able to carry a two pound coconut. "It's a matter of weight ratios..."

If I was a paranoid person I would think there was a connection with what you've suggested Cvl. unsure.gif Nope! Not paranoid in the least! ph34r.gif I'll just sit over here in the corner. Being really, really small. blink.gif
