Rowe on the OT: VDO's film career thread said she never heard of Ten Thousand Villages, so I thought I would describe them a little more. It is a program run under the MCC(Mennonite Central Committee). They use artisans from around the globe. These people receive a fair trade price for their goods, safe working conditions, and other programs designed to build up there communities. If they inquire about Christianity they will share it with them, but it is not a requirment to recieve help and purchasing for their goods. Their stores(there are several of them) they have goods from every country. Clothing, jewerly, pottery, household items, and persian rugs to say the least.

MCC helps after natural(and man made diseasters) to rebuild the community, and help with supplies that are needed.

I'm trying to get some home improvement estimates for a roof, gutters, windows... So I get advice from family and friends. Names and phone numbers of people to call to get an idea of how much I can expect to try for with a loan or line of credit.

I'm talking to the answering machine of the first guy on the list and get to the point where I need to leave a contact number for daytime and evenings.

Brain fart! Can't remember my telephone number. Has that ever happened to you?! I never call myself. And when I do I'm never home to answer the phone! What a day I'm having!

I can understand...just three months ago i spent twenty minutes writing invitations for my daughter's birthday party to 20+ of her classmates, which included including my cell number. You'd think after 20+ invites, that i'd actually remember my cell phone number wouldn't you?....nope, not a chance. My home number not a problem, cell phone, not a chance.

Been there, done that, lost the phone. Still haven't managed to put a label on the new one.

God gave me many gifts and height and short term memory wasn't one of them!!! I'm only 5'4 which makes many things in this life a wee bit more challenging!!! LOL!!

I have a horrible short term memory in particular. I can be leaving work, and say to myself, remember to pick up a paper. In less than the two minutes it takes to go to the gas station, I forgot. If I'm talking and someone interjects something, I'll forget what I was even talking about! However when it comes to obscure facts and tid bits of info, that no one really cares about, that I remember!! Little facts I read in a book, magazine, see on TV whatever, that I can almost quote word for word. Memorizign scripts, poems, whatever all is good. This info is nothing I can use at work, or really help anyone, just enough to keep me in the dork community short bus!!

I'm exactly like that too! I have a memory like a sieve! and my husband swears its since i've had my kids. It's gotten to the point that i have to make a list of what i have to do each day or i will forget something. Usually its because i have a lot of other stuff on my mind.

My poor sister-in-law's job allowed her to be a work-at-home mom through both kids. She can sing every Dora the Explorer song, knows all the kiddie programming by sound and theme song and has two very well behaved, well adjusted kids. And she can count to 20 in Spanish, French and every other conceivable language with the kids. She cannot concentrate on anything for longer than the two minutes because that's how long each of these wonderful, educationally stimulating shows runs any one topic for. She's regressed to that point.

She's starving for adult contact. Won't you please help her?!

Boy, can I relate to this subject!! lol I'll get up and go to another room and then ask myself, "Now why did I come in here??????" I also have several pieces of small note paper that I prepare the night before of things I need to do the next day. Cause if I don't see it in black and white, it doesn't get done!!!! I have so many pieces of paper with info on them, it is unreal. I got sick of making out lists every night so I laminated my paper so I can use it every day. I definitely have CRS syndrome!! lol

Now the going into a room and forgetting what i came in for i inherited from my mom, because she is the same. I do all the note writing stuff too, especially if we need groceries because i will not remember on my own. Usually i go into a room for something, get distracted by something else and forget what i went in for. It's so frustrating LOL!!

Oh the knowing the theme tunes to every kid's tv show happened to me too, especially with Dora, The Wiggles and others...right now my six year old is addicted to Spongebob Squarepants and it is doing my head in....heeeelppp!!!!
