FYI, Marlee Maitlin will be joining Fred Thompson's campaign as of June 1. 2007. She as well as Mr. Thompson has been On L&O, SVU as a guest star several times. I'm sure he has alot of the L&O team on his side. That's great news, IMO. wink.gif

The ancient and the new come together.

Ancient Egyptian City Spotted From Space
By Heather Whipps

"(June 6) - Satellites hovering above Egypt have zoomed in on a 1,600-year-old metropolis, archaeologists say.

Images captured from space pinpoint telltale signs of previous habitation in the swatch of land 200 miles south of Cairo, which digging recently confirmed as an ancient settlement dating from about 400 A.D.

The find is part of a larger project aiming to map as much of ancient Egypt's archaeological sites, or "tells," as possible before they are destroyed or covered by modern development

"It is the biggest site discovered so far," said project leader Sarah Parcak of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. "Based on the coins and pottery we found, it appears to be a massive regional center that traded with Greece, Turkey and Libya..."

The urgency of the project is very real. If this had been available, for example, before the wholesale destruction wrought by the building of the Aswan Dam, imagine the wealth of finds that could have been part of the rescue. sad01.gif This is a great development, thank you very much for posting it, Peachy! sleep.gif

There is just something very, very wrong about still playing hockey in June. I'm swatting mosquitoes and they're skating.

No disagreements from me, Linda! Or from most of us up here, on that issue. I am sorry every year when they don't address this in the owners meetings honestly....the schedule is too long to accomodate teams which were added in an expansion that never should have happened. dry.gif Think how the players feel, they're swatting mosquitoes and skating! tongue.gif

Trying different natural products to see if any work!

Two words: Guinea fowl.

They eat ticks and are excellent "watch dogs" to boot. Plus they look really nice, but are loud, loud, loud.

Have ordered but haven't received yet some liver flavored pills from fleaaway.com that are supossed to work for ticks, mosquitos, and fleas. Will let everyone know if they work. They are all natural.

Ah my friend NS, always better when I speak to you! tongue.gif Honestly, how am I? Since I was witness to the annual choke that is the Senators, I am delighted and happy today! This might not cast me amongst those with the milk of human kindness, however, I am always honest. sleep.gif
I am also thinking about Linda's gunea fowl observation. We had geese back home, and they were not only great catching whatever they could, they were an astonishing early warning system. My uncle had brought them from his RAF base, where they were even too violent for guard duty! (Yes, they used geese to guard military bases in the UK. If you've ever accidentally gone near a Canada Goose on a nest, you know why.) If Tony Soprano had some geese, and that red squirrel in his crew, Phil wouldn't stand a chance! Boy, this is admirably OT! wink.gif
