We had geese back home, and they were not only great catching whatever they could, they were an astonishing early warning system. My uncle had brought them from his RAF base, where they were even too violent for guard duty! (Yes, the used geese to guard military bases in the UK. If you've ever accidentally gone near a Canada Goose on a nest, you know why.) If Tony Soprano had some geese, and that red squirrel in his crew, Phil wouldn't stand a chance! Boy, this is admirably OT! Mari My college had a huge goose problem. I'm talking really big geese as well as lots of them. They would happily come up to feed from the hand of unsuspecting idiots (by idiots, I mean freshman) who would believe them to be "friendly". They would then follow you around, honking loudly if you stopped feeding them. Hordes of them would wait patiently outside of the buildings you ran into to get away from them. They could cover all of the doors should you attempt to sneak out another way because they communicated telepathically, *got another one cornered in Brook Hall*. Remember the seagulls (Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine) after the crab in "Finding Nemo"? Mindless zombie geese. ![]() And they crapped everywhere, so it's vitally important you not slip and fall during a game of XTREME FRIZBEE. -------------------- Real men come with real problems,
fantasy men come with back story. |

Ah my friend NS, always better when I speak to you! I am also thinking about Linda's gunea fowl observation. We had geese back home, and they were not only great catching whatever they could, they were an astonishing early warning system. My uncle had brought them from his RAF base, where they were even too violent for guard duty! (Yes, they used geese to guard military bases in the UK. Boy, this is admirably OT! Mari Honey u always crack me up . LOve that . I got one better never feed a bunch of starlings .lol the one winter we did boy did we regret it turned into the birds .lol all of them lined up on the fence and all over the patio one walked up to the patio door and tapped on it . and for days they were so thick in flight they'd block the sun out . I think one of them was a tony soprano in birds .lmao after that we stopped feeding them talk about an alfred hitchcock movie . -------------------- NS

Paris was sent back to jail today!" with a laughing icon, but I changed my mind to be "sensitive" to those who might think that she should be get preferential, special treatment over the rest of society. |

Uh,huh! I gotcha! Love the dripping sarcasm too! EB, why in the world could you be 'sensitive', over such a fake! If it were either of us, we would be thrown under the jail, and special treatment would not exist!! Sorry, What goes around, comes around!! I learned that from my mother. Sorry, What goes around, comes around!! I learned that from my mother. KR, I agree! Like you said, we would've been thrown UNDER the jail! Yep; that would've solved their "overcrowding" problem! Nope, no special treatment for us either. But, what I can't understand is, since she was in solitary confinement how did the "overcrowding" issue affect her? I don't think it did; to me, that's an excuse to justify releasing her very early. |

Our campus had a huge goose (geese?) problem too. It didn't help that we had a pond and a river on campus. Geese would be everywhere. We'd all ignore them. One girl from rez was minding her own business and a goose came out of nowhere, ran after her and bit her ankle. She was screaming and couldn't shake it off for nearly 5 minutes. Everyone was afraid of the goose 'cause they didn't want to be attacked either. -------------------- A wise man never plays leapfrog with a unicorn.

NJ has a dense concentration of wide green areas surrounding all those corporate centers that popped up along the Route 1 corridor and other main traffic lines. These places are goose magnets. Huge money to be made by companies that shoo away the geese. One outfit is the Geese Police. They use border collies and other herding dogs to try and herd the birds. The dogs run around having fun, the geese get annoyed and leave. -------------------- Real men come with real problems,

What gets my goat are pretty normal illnesses that are found among the prison/jail population. Not to mention HIV/AIDS; TB, etc. So, why should she get out for hers, unless we let everyone out for their illnesses? Sounds like momma is part of the problem...throw her under the jail too!! -------------------- ![]() |
