We had a busy day, running errands. Had to buy a new refrigerator today, since our old one died. Not exactly fun, but had to be done. After errands, just kicked back and enjoyed time with my husband. It's been a lovely, relaxing day.

My day was a good day, too; although pretty busy. We had our annual spring garage sale all day yesterday and this morning. My mother moved from an apartment to an assisted living facility in January and our basement has been filled with her stuff. Don't know how one person can have so much stuff in a small apartment! The weather has been beautiful and we did real well.
After the garage sale was over, hubby and I went to our oldest granddaughter's graduation party. Good time to see family and friends. After watching the Cleveland Indians lose to Atlanta I have just been lounging and doing nothing. Nice relaxing way to end the day. |

OK by me! Thanks! Hey EB! I sent in my photos, tony and I picked out the ones for each page of the book. The publisher e-mailed me and said we did a great job with the illustrations, so now it has been sent to the main ilustrator and then to the publisher and then, back to me to ok it or make changes if needed or if I want. So complicated, but by the grace of God, it will all be worth it. I'll know alot more the 2'nd book!! Just wanted to let ya know whrer the book stands. Thanks EB, for being interested and excited for me! Your a sweet lady! Kathy -------------------- ![]() |

Mom's little iguana Mel died last night. So we had to bury her this morning. She was never totally healthy. Will miss her, but better gone than in pain. Other than that the day was slow, no fire calls. Also for a change no thunderstorms. Supossed to get more humid and in the 90's Sunday-Wednesday at least.

I know reptiles can be tough to keep because of their specialized diets and they don't always respond well to veterinary care. I'm sure your mom did everything she could for Mel. She's in my thoughts. A friend's "little iguana" has grown into a four foot long B-movie dinosaur in such a short time and still has the quirky personality s/he had when s/he was a wee baby. Still not sure if Spike's a boy or a girl though. -------------------- Real men come with real problems,

Still not sure if Spike's a boy or a girl though. Mom's first iguana Harley was given to her when she(Harley) was about 3 years old, and she was already over three feet! She lived till over 10 years, which in captivity is rare. She died at over 4 and half feet, and over 20 lbs. She went to the bathroom over the shower drain, because in the wild they go in water. Mom would keep paper in the shower and then just throw it away. She had to roam of the apartment, she would even crawl into Mom's bed to snuggle with her!! No kidding, they are very affectiate creatures. We would walk Harley on a leash, if for no other reason than to watch people's faces!! Mel was only approx. 2 feet when she died. She was never big enough to roam the house, but she would sit on our shoulders, and had a leash to go with us outside. -------------------- You're chewing on the inside of your cheek like a furious little chipmunk.-Goren |

So I'm assuming from your post that you are publishing a book? How exciting! Is this your first one? Is it childrens or suspense or, what kind of book? I'm interested in hearing about it. Lauren |

Let us know when it is due for publication. Are you self published or are you using a publisher? Either way, I know it is usually a complicated and time consuming process, but seeing the fruits of your labor in book form is a very satisfying one. What a great gift to your grandson too! ps: KR, please alert me via pm when you post something for me on this thread; I don't always get a chance to check everything on this thread (sorry I missed your post yesterday and earlier today). |

Hey KR! Ok EB! Yeah, it's slowly but surely working out now! They said it might be 5 to 6 months before it's ready to go, after all the corrections, and all kinds of stuff! Man, I did not know what I got myself into, but it'll be worth it in the end, I pray! Thanks, Kathy Congratulations on the progress of your children's book; it sounds great! As I said Angel, I am so sorry for your and your Mom's loss. It sounds to me that although little Mel had a struggle, she was loved, sadly, not something all souls know, and I am glad you shared that gift. Pain is the price for love, I've always believed it to be worth the great cost. I am so sorry. Mari -------------------- --Resistance is futile. I forgot to (oops) feel bad about telling two of my seniors that they were not going to graduate with their fellow members of the Class of 2007 if they didn't pass my class. Warned each one about their low grades, the homework that wasn't getting done, the lousy test scores and missed projects until I was blue in the face. When their guidance counselors called them into the office and told them they weren't graduating, that's when the bargaining began.
How about if I do some extra credit? (How about you do the original credit?!) How about I redo my final project? (Sounds like a plan.) Can I retake that test I cheated on and got a zero for? (No.) I don't bargain. I have enough experience to know that they can do it when the chips are down, win one for the gipper, fill in athletically themed metaphores until you're happy. No bargaining. But I did tell each one the minimum grade he needed on his final exam if he wanted to have a snowball's chance in Hades of passing. Both showed up early to class. Both had TONS of questions that were actually pertinent to their grasp of the subject. Both passed with a comfortable margin of points. Both told me I scared the poop (yeah, they didn't use THAT word) outta them. I think they learned a lesson they won't forget for at least their first semester in college. -------------------- Real men come with real problems,

My garden is mad crazy with stuff blooming right now. I almost have the effect I'm always hoping to have, one of those three season gardens with some kind of flower at all times. I also know I'm not nearly as good at planning that kind of stuff as I would hope to be at this point in my gardening life, but, I'm coping.
I'm 5'9", not a tiny woman in any way. I constantly get asked to retrieve things from the high shelves at the grocery store by more "normal" sized women (their words, not mine) when they can't reach. The point being, I've got lilies nearly as tall as me, and I ain't short. A couple of years ago a friend from work had her hubby redesign their patio and that meant digging up tiger lilies and she asked if I wanted some. The yard was still in the early stages of what do I want so I took a bunch and split them between the front and back of the yard around this ancient cherry tree and they were anemic the first year, but they were still getting their legs under themselves, so, you know... Last year they were thicker, more flower stalks, more flowers and they were just about four feet tall, and I commented to my friend about how tall they were. She never had that height in her garden, but then they got full sun there. They are fully five and a half feet tall. Higher than my sister's head. No joking. Huge flower clusters at the top too. I feel like I'm living in the rain forest with the stuff growing right now. The daisies are either already flowering or maybe a week away. My Oriental lilies are happily percolating away at the back of the yard, also over four feet in height and some with more than a dozen flowers at their tops. Coreopsis is opened and the hydrangeas are just out of this world covered in gorgeous shades of blue and purple. I cut the butterfly bushes down to about eight inches on the suggestion of a radio call-in gardening show guru. Did that at the end of March and figured, they're plants. They'll either grow back or they won't and if they don't, whaddaya do? They are each well over six feet tall and have hundreds of baby bracts on them. When those boogers open that yard will be thick with butterflies. They'll be taking numbers to get at those flowers like the yard's a butterfly delicatessen and it's half priced hoagie day! Now if only the rain would be more regular so I wouldn't have to watch the stuff wilting from day to day between storms. I hate watering! -------------------- Real men come with real problems,
fantasy men come with back story. |
