Donna,
Can't edit, so I had to quote myself! I tried again to PM you, but it disappeared again. I will try again tomorrow!

Susan

I'll try PM'ing you to see if you can receive them. As you can see, I had to re-register all over again under a different user name & account. I'm a newbie now!

Yes, our trip was great. It was a strange feeling seeing the area that VDO spends so much time in & about. And the Chelsea Diner was great - the best coffee I've had in ages.

I thought so much of you & the others who went to the DVD signing in December when I visited the NBC Store. I am so THERE when he signs Season 4, 5 or 6. (Please Vincent....do it again sad01.gif )

Any Harry Potter fans here? My son and I are heading off to our local High Street at midnight to snag our copy of deathly Hallows. Any LOCI fans doing the same?

In a way...
The bookstore/cafe I work at is doing a special. We are reopening @ midnight and throwing a Harry Potter party. Games, costumes ect. Last year we were there until about 3am.
There is a huge thing going on in Portland (ME) They are decorating a street to look like Diagon Alley.
Its going to be really amazing!

Like a lazy Muggle, AstonMartin and Elfharpist, I ordered mine from Amazon.ca the first day we could pre-order, so I am going to be waiting at the front door until the mailman arrives! tongue.gif
I did the same thing with the previous two books, and I know that if the pattern repeats itself I will read right through. Actually, I have to. My Mum is going to be parked on the end of the chesterfield, tapping her fingers, waiting for me to finish and hand it over to her! biggrin.gif She didn't think she would be interested, but she read the first one, and then became addicted herself.
I have three copies coming, I have to mail two right away to my godson and his best friend who are away at camp as well. That has to be done before I start reading! rolleyes.gif

Wow, that does sound enviably amazing!!! I don't know of anything like that here, tho I guess a lot of people will be all dressed up in London. I entered the draw to go to the Natural History Museum to see JKR read the opening chapers. Alas, my name wasn't drawn. (But maybe that's just as well, since they've had some flooding in the city.

Mari - how could you bear to wait for the postman?? I would probably run out in the street and attack the poor man as he cycles round the corner!!
And KRodgers?? You're NEVER too old for Harry Potter. My friend who is a grandmother and who works for the Ministry of defence in London says the main topic of conversation at work today (bearing in mind there's a war on) was HP!! 3 1/2 hrs to go rolleyes.gif

Oh AstonMartin, I am trying desperately to be patient...and I'm a Scot, you know that isn't what comes naturally to us! wink.gif My poor mailman said yesterday that he is dreading it, he saw the advance notice for his route from Amazon, and he is worried about making it! I will be ready with a cup of tea for him! biggrin.gif My Mum worked for the MOD! She'll be pleased that the crowd hasn't changed!
My best friend, who is in the army, in the war, ordered his as well, and discovered the other day that he isn't alone....there are thousands of them heading over there! laugh.gif

I would've pre-ordered as i did with the last two books but we're off on vacation tomorrow and have a really early start planned. I've been trying to persuade hubby to call into a local supermarket on the way so i can pick it up and have something to read during the journey (we're driving) but so far, he's not going for it. I'll buy it when i'm there instead.

My two nieces are on vacation with their parents in Florida and will have two copies delivered to them courtesy of one of their doting aunts. Diane will also have a third copy delivered to her own house where she will, undoubtedly, finish reading it by Sunday at the absolute latest, probably before that.

I think JKR will bring him back in a couple of years. She's no fool. No one derails that large a gravy train!

Ok this is where all of you will have to restrain yourselves from reaching thru your screens and smacking me silly........I never got into Harry Potter. I have nothing against the books, just never really been into that type of novel. I love sci-fi, supernatural, etc., but wizards and such, not so much.

I did see a humorus interview with the actor that portrays Harry on the Tonight Show. Jay asked him if he spent a lot of dough for his birthday party. He actor looked at Jay quizically, and said something like why would I do that with cupcakes? Jay have to explain that 'dough' is an American expression that means money.

Tell me do ya guys still love me? LOL! unsure.gif

Me neither about Harry Potter. My brother actually gave me a copy one year as my Christmas present when it first came out. He was so proud of the wonderful gift he had graced me with. I tried reading it. I really did. Got bored to tears and stopped apparently "just as it gets really, really good," as five exasperated siblings informed me.

Rule of thumb when I read a book, if I'm not "into" it by page 40...

Rule of genetics, I'm also the only one of the six of us who cannot roll my tongue.

That ain't me!

LOL-I have really enjoyed the Harry Potter books! I didn't read it for a long while when it first came out, but my sister and brother really liked it so I started and to my surprise, I enjoyed it. The Lord of the Rings is my favorite book of all time and at first, I felt like HP was a rip-off of that.
I don't have the same feeling about HP that I do LOTR. I can't get into the world the same way I guess, but they are fun to read!

You mean like Madison Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Broadway, Delancy Street, Flatbush Ave, Jamaica Ave?

Like that? Streets in New York have certain connotations. For example, Fifth Avenue means $$$, Jamaica Ave (Queens) means low income, crime. Delancey Street is ethnic .

Do you play the harp Elfharpist?
My two girls just started learning the small celtic harp, not the large concert one. There is a harp revival going on in gaelic speaking countries at the moment, and the Irish Harp Centre near us has an all harp orchestra with all sizes of harp and all ages learning. Beautiful sound,eh?
