My only question: "aaaand what is your point in all this, again?"

If the statement shared is the truth (which I'm really not interested in discussing either way, actually) - write it on the Wiki page, make your statement about it, lock the page and be done with it. If you don't want attention drawn to the man's personal life, thennnn don't go to fan pages raising the issue; thereby, drawing attention to the man's personal life. Sometimes, people just baffle me, man.....

(and no, i am in no way directing any of my comment to our dear pink and fuzzy... wink.gif )

EDIT: oop! Reason #1 why quoting is good - People can "beat you" in snagging the posting location that you thought you'd be landing in. Please note that my comment was written to follow NY1001's...!

edited by pfuzzy - took out the two (barely disguised) bits of naughty words.

I agree with you on this. Were VDO and Carin in bed at night unable to sleep because they were so worrried about the misinformation on the Wik page? I'm sure they both have better things to do!

QUOTE (NY10001 @ Jan 7 2007, 11:47 AM) *
Hello, everybody!

I'm here to talk about this supposed reconciliation.

Hi there NY10001, and welcome to the NBC boards. We're happy to have you. Please have a look around, we have a lot of informative and fun posts. Feel free to introduce your self in our "Welcome to the L&O:CI Message Boards" thread and review the board rules and etiquette when you have a chance.

We have a post from the editor at Wikipedia regarding this information, which I responded to. Please have a look. All I can reiterate is that, as the board moderator, I requested the ability to contact the spokesperson myself before I allowed the post. I was, in fact, granted that courtesy and am satisfied of the person's identity. I don't think it's "secrecy" - it seemed to be the preference for all parties concerned to simply correct erroneous information and just not make a big production out of it. It seemed it was originally intended only for Wikipedia, but knowing that data can be edited by random users, the spokesperson agreed to have it placed in two other locations. Most importantly, the information is not derrogatory or inflamatory in any way. We would not allow that on the board as it does not comply with the NBC terms of service.

Certainly, if the information is true, it's very nice indeed. If it's not, we will take the post down when we see information to the contrary provided by VDO himself.

Anyway, thanks for joining us. I hope you plan to stay and share your thoughts on LOCI with us. smile.gif

Happy New Year to you too, sweets, and Happy New Year to everyone!
I wonder has anyone made any New Year's Resolutions? Do tell. smile.gif
Mine is, of course, to fight like **** to get my back, back, and to quit smoking. (Though I don't smoke too much, it's still too much, if you know what I mean.) Plus I have more, but those are the main ones.
Vurtgirl smile.gif

Hi vurtgirl! I didn't make any resolutions, unfortunately, though I know I need to quit smoking too and drop about 20 pounds. My husband wants me to resolve to spend less time online. YEAH RIGHT! That's like saying "stop watching LOCI!" laugh.gif

Keeping my fingers crossed for your back, sweetie.

Oh, thanks alot sweetie. At least I'm not alone on the smoking train.
These are thoughts I have on quiting smoking.
One of the hardest parts of quitting smoking, is fear of the knowledge that you gain weight when you quit. As you were saying you want to lose some weight, it's automatically going to make it that much tougher. That part is especially harder for all ladies to deal with. I, for one, just thought and planned/plotted it all out. Exactly why people gain weight, and how to quit without gaining any or a great amout of weight. For me it's especially bad because I went from being a very active person, to being dead weight on a couch or bed when I hurt my back, and it's taken it's toll on my health and weight. So I really can't afford to gain any more, just cause of my health alone, not even speaking of looks anymore. unsure.gif . Also, I realized that it's several things like anxiety, and the need to do something with my hands, mouth, and mind. It has to be a conscious effort to notice, and act on your needs, and fill them with something good. Firstly, I'm going to get a bunch of celery and baby carrots. That will help, for sure, to fill in that spot of handling something and nibbling (using my mouth) when feeling that need. Secondly, I'm going to change my routine. That's another huge need that is left empty when you quit. It needs to be filled with something healthy and good. Not only food, but hobbies, or take the money we spend on smokes and put it in a jar, or spend it on something healthy every day instead. So basically, what I'm saying is that some psychology and thought, and planning needs to be put in place, and then some really tough, strong will needs to be there as well. For me, I use the knowledge of cancer, and so many other horrible health risks and truths, to harden my resolve and strengthen my will to do it. Also, I'm going to do it cold turkey. I already know that I will quit. I have gone through so many horrible things, that this, is going to be a piece of cake compared to everything else. That's the train of thought you have to try to have as well. If you think you're going to fail before you even try, then you're already closer to failing before you even started. Also, if I/you/anybody does fail the first time around, I'm not going to give up, no way. I'm just going to try it all again, right away. It's not good to just say, well I tried, but I failed and go back to smoking. Try again, and keep trying until it works. Evaluate what it was that caused myself to fail and change the process to fill those needs so that I can succeed. If it's the cold turkey that's not working, then I'll plan out a slow myself off plan, which is much better than just smoking at will, as before, cause just by cutting down and down, is healthier than what was before. Also, another huge obstacle, is if you have a partner (husband, boyfriend, close friend, or whatever) that is a smoker as well. It makes it all that more difficult. My boyfriend is also a smoker, and he's going to quit with me. It's going to make it alot tougher, but when we do make it to the other side, we will be all that stronger for it.
Anyway, I wrote this in hopes that some, even if it's just one piece of my thoughts, helps you or anyone else who wants to quit. That alone is worth me opening up myself here with this.
Well, I won't blab anymore... laugh.gif ..
Take care sweetie, ~Good luck, though, I know you can do that, or anything else you set your mind to.

Vurtgirl, I wish you the best of luck! It will definitely help that you're not going it alone. One other thing you have to remember, you're always a smoker!! I stopped many different times for as little as 6 weeks, 2 1/2 years and even 12 years. Now I'm having a horrific time trying to stop.

Hey, vurt - I've pretty much had the attention span of a flea since school ended and the looooong march toward sitting for/passing the boards and FINALLY being completely done with the RN transition began. I've not been quite 'there' to be able to fully give attention to everything you've been going through, but I was able to keep an eyeball still long enough at times to pick up that there's a broken back and insurance bueauracracy (<--sp? can't begin to try to fix it!) f-ng everything up, right about now? Well, here's to hoping for a good end to the sh't-storm you've been enduring in the new year...

Don't know if this is the way to respond to this but since the topic was locked I can't respond there. I have seen this on the reel also and you can't respond there so here's my question. When i go to Wikipedia the site does not say what this note says it is supposed to say. The links form either site do not lead to a page with their spiel about VPD marriage. I have to admit this makes me wonder about the validity of the statement. Is it ms, or my computer? has anyone else had the same trouble? This seems very out in left field, making a big deal about that which is really no big deal or at least none of our business.

Thankyou for your support smile.gif sweets. I know exactly what you mean by you're always a smoker. I have seen it in my mother (and friends, and many others). She stopped once, when she got colon cancer, she went through surgery and chemo, then about a year later, she started again. It's so hard, even the grim reaper can't stop you sometimes. I fear for her so much. The one good thing is that she went from one to two packs a day, to only about two cigs a day now. So for that, I am proud of her.
I think that it's great you keep trying. At least you're not just giving up. You should be proud of yourself for that. Sometimes people just don't give themselves a break. They fail and just give up, but with something as difficult as this, and the fact that you've gone through the effort and failed and are still trying, that's something to be proud of, and with that strength, I know you can do it.
Thanks again gorenfan330,

Naydi,
Thankyou so much for your well wishes on my d**m back laugh.gif . I'm the type of person that's just open about myself, usually. Even though most of it's not exactly things to be proud of. Though I didn't mean for it to get out so I could get sympathy, it really has been so nice to see the kindness in everyone. It really touches me and really makes me see the kind people behind the screen names.
I am glad you finally finished your transition to becoming a Registered Nurse. smile.gif I wish you the best in your journey in this field. My sister is a RN and doing the board thing to become a Nurse Practitioner, or whatever it's called when you give out scripts, so I know what a difficult job it is. I know alot of people say this, but I really believe that it takes a special person to do this job. You will find alot of hardship and stress in this field, but that's one of the reasons only certain people can do it, and hopefully you'll also find it very rewarding.
Thanks again Naydi,

Hi vpdzoo. Topic was locked both here and at the reel so as not to belabor the issue. I just checked the wikipedia page on VDO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_D'Onofrio, and the paragraph about his marriage is there. The other paragraph (the disclaimer about the family spokesperson) looks like it was put on the edit page so that anyone trying to edit it will see it. It probably didn't conform with the template for them to leave it on the main page the public sees. But it's definitely there.

If you have any question about the validity of the statement, please see my post in this thread.

Call me stubborn or stupid or whatever you want but even when i Click on the link you just entered I get this:

D'Onofrio has a daughter, Leila George D'Onofrio, born 1992 [4] in Australia. Leila's mother is actress Greta Scacchi, with whom D'Onofrio made several movies in the late 80s and early 90s (including The Player and Fires Within). He also has a son with Carin van der Donk, Elias, born in 1999. [5]

In late 2004, D'Onofrio experienced a health scare when he collapsed on the set of Law & Order: Criminal Intent on November 10. He collapsed again at home a few days later and was taken back to the hospital for more thorough testing, where he was diagnosed with exhaustion. [6] Subsequently, the series' producers introduced a second team of detectives in 2005, Mike Logan (Chris Noth) and Carolyn Barek (Annabella Sciorra), later replacing Sciorra with Julianne Nicholson playing Detective Megan Wheeler. [7]

so tell me what I'm doing wrong Please :[
