i dont know if its really her. Most likely not because her profile thing only has info everyone has acess to.

I dont really know how to work myspace, but i think it would really fun to do one for Robert Goren and Alex Eames. maybe someone can do that. and then show it to me!

Guess we'll never know ... But I'd understand if either of them were going to have one that it would be set to "Private".

I was thinking bout writing to Kathryn, maybe I should ask "You don't happen to have a myspace account do you?" She'll think i'm a complete loony but haha ah well.

Ok... here is the MySpace account of Mr. VDO. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endID=119638304 It says he only strictly accepts family and friends. But I believe this isn't him. tongue.gif

I wouldn't imagine he'd have the time for myspace, I would think he'd use the internet for research and email. For family and close friends, there's always the phone.

Kathryn and Vincent don't have myspace pages do they? Coz I found a myspace page for Kathryn that is supposedly *the real deal* As well as one for Vincent which is set to private lol.

I know it is 99.9% doubtfull but i just had to ask.

I'm thinking it's not them. Not sure about Kathyrn, but I don't think VDO would bother. Afterall, if he wants to use the computer to update family or friends he'd just shoot them an email. smile.gif VDO strikes me as more of a phone guy.

And welcome to the board, Taty! It's great to have another LOCI fan join our ranks. Please introduce yourself to us in the Welcome thread, and we look forward to getting to know you!

is there some way to find out when NBC will hold more dvd signings? A newsletter or something?

Hey twiztid, great question. As vurtgirl mentioned, we started a poll on whether we would like NBC to do it for the season 4 & 5 releases. By now, it's probably on page 2 of the board. But we don't know yet when the those seasons are being released on DVD. Rest assured someone around here will see it and post it in time. tongue.gif I think it will probably be posted on the main NBC Media Village site when they decide, so keep your eyes peeled. We'll definitely be talking about it before it happens!

I, honestly, don't think it's them. I think the set to private thing was done, cause 1, maybe the person that is a huge fan of VDO was getting too many messages from people thinking it was the real deal, or 2, he/she is trying to make it look more real. I think if any 'star' would go onto a public website, like Myspace, to create an account, they would definitely get that it would be part of publicity for them, and they would go to the creaters of MySpace and have them set a confirmation that it really is them, so they can go ahead with conversing with the public, and writing about themselves and things they want to let the public know. If a particular 'star' just really liked Myspace and wanted to only get to play on it with friends and family, then I can tell you I am certain they wouldn't use their real name, and it would be set to private, for sure.
Anyway, this is all in my humble opinion. I do have a Myspace account, which I rarely visit, and I know that I have seen the creators, or managers of the site, constantely delete accounts that are set up under their music section as a band, when it's not really the band, and acknowledge a real band, when it is. So that's what leads me to believe they would do the same for a 'star' that would want to be known on Myspace.
Ok, that's it from me.
Thanks,

Oh, TatyGirl, you got us all curious now! These profiles are probably fake, as I don't think they have time to play on the internet, but I guess I'll try to add them to my friends list and see what happens. laugh.gif

There was this "Jackie Chan" on a Friendster. His background looked so good it almost made me think it was him. I added him and he accepted me. I looked at his profile exactly like Mr. Jackie Chan's status but when I asked something about his upcoming movie with Mr. Jet Li, he NEVER answered. Then someone sent me a message that it was a Jackie Chan obsessed fan who was using that account. I still have him on my list, though. Sometimes, a girl can use male celebrity's. biggrin.gif

It is true what Silvia said. No celebrity ever find a time to make an account such as Friendster or MySpace.

Actually, there are quite a few that do use Myspace, at least, as another way to communicate with fans, and as publicity. Although, they are most likely managed by someone hired by the celeb. I have actually seen on various celeb official sites, links to their myspace account and such. Mostly it's bands that I've seen so far, but I'm sure that actors use it as well. It's become so popular, that it's a good place for celebs to be seen and heard and give a lil to their fans. I agree most of them don't, but there are some. That's why I say that if it's real, you will know it. There won't be any guessing. The managers of Myspace would say it, and there would be info linked to their official page (and info on their official page) and such. I believe Metallica (or one of the band members) is one such band that has an official Myspace account. I'm a huge fan of theirs, so I get their newsletter sent to my email, and I go onto their site quite often, so I think that's where I saw it, but I may be wrong. Ok, blah, blah, blah, I've gone on enough. I think you guys get what I'm trying to say.

You're more likely to find musicians on myspace than actors, I think. Musicians have a bit more time on their hands than actors who have a lot on their plate do. After touring, there are normally a few months that they have plenty time to **** around on the net, inbetween writing songs and recording.

The thing that first hit me about Kathryn's profile is that the writting is so ... unprofessional ... and she doesn't even use capital letters. And the reply I got invited me to IM her on myspace (I think it's IM myspace she was refering to lol) I don't think she would do that - or have TIME to do that!
These might be small insignificant things but if makes me realize if she was going to have an myspace page that she would make it as professional as possable, so I agree with you Vurtgirl ...

But i'm still going to ask when I write to her lol! tongue.gif

You know what, those small things you are talking about, do seem quite off, especially because Kathryn or any celeb most likely would hire someone to take care of something like this, being they are strapped for time. There is no way someone they hire would make mistakes like that if they wanted to keep their job, so it definitely seems like a good tell, that, that ain't really her. (I know I would be psyched if I got a gig like that, and I would definitely not blow it with lil mistakes like that.) I just wonder what kind of person sits around creating fake accounts and pretending to be some celeb, and not only creates the account, but goes to the point of talking to people and inviting them to chat with them. I think that right there is a sign that says 'STAY AWAY', if you know what I mean. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
Vurtgirl smile.gif
You know, I also think it's quite disrespectful to do something like that to anyone. I don't care if they're a celeb or not, they are people too, and that's just way off. IMHO. I'm sure that Myspace does delete those accouts. It's been a while, but I remember a comment from Myspace saying just that. It's probably just a matter of time, cause there are so many of them out there. You probably can even report/write/question Myspace about the validity of the account??? May be worth a try if you really are hoping it's her, instead of getting involved with that person before you know. Although it may be fun messing with them too. Make them think you really believe them and act like a crazy fan. laugh.gif laugh.gif Ok, I'll stop now. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Alright gang - everyone who has a myspace go add "Kathryn" and bombard her with annoying *fan* msgs!! *evil laugh* Let's go Vurtgirl!! laugh.gif

I think i'll just ask her when I write to her and leave it at that. After talking to you all i'm practically 100% it's not her so I'm not gonna go to the trouble of reporting it to the people at Myspace.

Hey, I've got an idea, Vincent - Kathryn Fan (a regular member here) met her at the DVD signing, and even got to talk to her and take a pic with her. She wrote all about it in the thread called I met a member of CI, or something like that. So, you can ask V-K Fan to give you a question for Kathryn that only Kathryn would know, or take something she wrote off of the thread, like about her dress, and by her answer, you'll know. (Every once in a while I come up with a good idea) (It's not all air in there) laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
Vurtgirl smile.gif
P.S. As far as reporting to Myspace, I think it would be cool to just email them and ask if they actually have a way for members to know if a particular 'celeb' member is real, or if they monitor in some way. You don't really have to report anyone if you don't want to, but the info would be helpful I'm sure.

Um, vurtgirl darlin', I just hate to rain on parades, but to demonstrate just what a load of netcrap Myspace is as a bona fide celeb host, I've just become Alan Rickman, complete with a pic of Rickman. You young ladies DO know who Alan Rickman is, right? Think the villain in Die Hard, the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood. Big star, many upmarket websites, more than VDO, even.

Anyhow: It took me all of 90 seconds to complete the MySpace form, upload the celeb pic from a Vanity Fair cover story on Rickman, and get back here to report. C'mon, you guys - VDO and KE do NOT play on MySpace. A little reality, puleese. It's for kids. It's fun, I'm sure, but see well nooooooo, not for film stars who have their own websites, official or unoffical, who are not looking for friends on the net, who are mostly looking to hide out from people on the net, and whose real friends include Johnny Depp and Dick Wolf. Think private jets and limosines, and Monte Carlo and Krug champagne and bodyguards and bespoke John Lobb loafers. Do not think MySpace. sigh.gif Why do I feel so mean saying all this? Anyhow, if you ever decide to worship Alan Rickman, I'll put a word in 'his' ear to let you into his fabulous circle of fabulous friends on his fabulous new MySpace site. (Jeez, how do I ever pull that thing down?)

Well I've sent a msg to myspace asking if they have a way of verifying if a celebrity who has a profile is the real deal.

I agree with you NoDayButToday22 - her blog didn't make any sense - that was one of the things that "tipped" me off as to thinking it is not her.

But like i said, i was just being curious. I really never thought this topic would get so much attention haha.

Oh, no, I'm not a fool, that's exactly what I said as well, bwalter, funny girl, or boy should I say. laugh.gif Most of them are false, but, there are actually a few, and I think they are mostly bands, that do have actual, real, myspace accounts. Like I said, they are usually referenced on the official web page of the celeb/band, and most likely run by the people they hire to manage things like this.
Anyway, there's no harm in asking the people at Myspace how to tell what's official and what's not.
I'd find their answer kinda interesting actually.
Vurtgirl smile.gif
(Personally, I don't really like Myspace. I created an account there a while ago, but I rarely ever go on it after I saw what it's all about. Not really my type of thing, that's all.)

bwalter: So are you gonna keep that account now, and play Alan Rickman? I'd visit Myspace for that. laugh.gif
