You're more likely to find musicians on myspace than actors, I think. Musicians have a bit more time on their hands than actors who have a lot on their plate do. After touring, there are normally a few months that they have plenty time to **** around on the net, inbetween writing songs and recording.

I might be the first to quote myself on the board (*cough*), but I just wanted to point out that I didn't swear. I just said the four letter word that pertains to the expulsion of gas from the posterior. unsure.gif

Phew! I don't feel so bad now Keiko12 tongue.gif Thinking bout asking VDO to play golf with you? biggrin.gif I wonder if the person who created that fake KE page has any idea the conversations / debates they've caused lol.

Taty, sweetheart, don't feel at all silly for posting this topic. It was a good question. As someone suggested, I will eventually move this into off-topic. Why? The people that created those accounts are getting exactly what they wanted - lots of attention. dry.gif

Anyway, we are really happy you joined us and jumped right into contributing! smile.gif

Good point, Rowe. People who spend hours of their lives trying to fool fans by making fake profiles, fake blogs, writing fake mail, etc, are probably attention grabbers who might have some psychological issues going on! laugh.gif

Na, you're definitely not the first to quote yourself, and I find it nice that you cared enough to clarify. I find it sooo funny how many words, that are not at all swearing, are blinked out by this site. I was going to go to OT and post a post, with a bunch of words to see which ones are blinked out and which aren't, like d'rn, or d'mn or something like that you know. Actually now that I think about it, I wonder if they have a list. They are definitely way more uptight about words than they should be. Ok, that's my two cents, or two thousand cents. laugh.gif

yeah, when I was talking about VoG, I had to edit so that it read "xxx-rated" instead of the name of the industry, because that was blocked out. And of course, it's 4 letters, so people might have thought I was using an f-word, when it was a p-word that isn't even a swear word! rolleyes.gif

(and I'm a bit of a wordsmith, so if I have to circumlocute, I do it so it ends up sounding terribly pompous!)

That's ok, I always have dictionary.com handy, so I'll look up anything I don't understand. Like circumlocute, although dictionary.com says that word doesn't exist. They do have circumlocutory, circumlocutorily, circumlocution, and circumlocutional though. Ok, now I'm getting dizzy and developing a headache. I'll tell you though, there are quite a few regulars that are also wordsmiths, so you guys will have some fun together. I really love to read proper English, and wordsmithing, if that's a word. That's why I always have the dictionary handy. One of these days I'll get good enough to call myself a wordsmith as well SerenityPaintedDeath, smile.gif then we can have fun doing wordsmith battles. laugh.gif

Yeah, I'm really surprised about the words that are automatically bleeped. But I think it's only because NBC wants the boards to be "safe" for kids of all ages to surf. You'll notice, I typically don't mind if our posters try to get around some of the expletives (like writing "d'mn," etc.). My feeling is that it's all in the context of the post. Only when someone's throwing around bad words in an argument with another poster, do I get my moderator panties in a bunch! laugh.gif

Going really off-topic here, but I guess it's okay 'cause the thread is gonna be moved to the "off-topic". I always have www.onelook.com open, it's a great dictionary search tool. I don't think "circumlocute" is a verb, but the noun "circumlocution" means ramble.

True, but then again, suicide isn't a verb you can use on its own without "commit" either, and they conjugate it often on CI! biggrin.gif

I doubt anyone would use harsh words here though...I mean...it's a sweet bunch, don't you think?

(and wordsmith is made-up! hahahaha. Fun word though)

Oh, yeah, you can pretty much make anything into a verb! It's just a matter of time for dictionaries to have definitions for them. Talk yo you later, guys, gotta "google" some stuff now wink.gif

Yeah, I find it useful for comic effect, but I wouldn't use my bungled verbs or made-up words for anything serious.

Try having lice in your 30's. sad.gif A kid in my son's class brought it to school with him (he came from a very nice, clean family, BTW) and infected most of the kids & their respective families. UGH mad.gif talk about embarrassing - buying the nits kit at the pharmacy late at night, hoping no one I knew would see me. cool.gif

Not trying to sound pompous myself <cough> <whips out Linguistics degree>, but "wordsmith" is no more made up than any other word, and the usage you gave was perfectly acceptable and appropriate. Likewise, "circumlocute" is a word, both in itself and as the correct reduction of "circumlocution" (both meaning "to talk around").

And may I say you have a lovely vocabulary, my dear! wink.gif

I was out with friends tonight. We saw the movie "Children of Men"...amazing by the way...love Clive Owen (though parts are gory like a war movie). Anyways, in one part they mentioned New York. The first thing that came to mind was Criminal Intent.

...yeah...I need help. tongue.gif

Just had to tell you all...I work at a theatre (live theatre, not movie...very improv-based shows) and our new show has a character in it who's an eccentric old lady with 8 cats. My friend Kelley plays her and upon my suggestion, she's decided to name one of the cats "Detective Bobby Goren"....it's hilarious. She only refers to this cat as "Detective Bobby Goren" in full...never just "Bobby" or "Goren". I find it so funny. Just thought I'd let you all know. smile.gif
