Anyway, I feel really bad for you for having to give up your kitty. I can't even imagine the heartache I will feel when my babies pass. I've had my dog and two cats for over ten years now, and I love them like children. Anyway, I got to go, but I will be back in an hour or so, so I'll see ya then if you're still on. Oh, and I definitely know how you feel about taking a break from the boards at times. I love my CI board...lol..my, but sometime a breather is needed, especially when we haven't had a new ep in sooo long. One more week, can't wait baby!!!!! Ok, so how many people out there are in a horrible deep freeze? My God! I went out just to my car, and into a place, then back to my car and home, and I was frozen like a popsicle! My car did not even heat up the entire time. I can't believe just how cold it is out there. It must be close to 0degrees F, or less.
I'm in Chicago, so anyone else anywhere else feeling the freeze like we are here? Cvl, I know you're feeling it. Plus you're out and about during work aren't you. How have you been handling this horrible, freezing weather? Vurtgirl -------------------- |

Okay this has nothing to do with anything but...
I had this bizarre dream last night and it was about a serial killer on the lose. It was really freaky and gory...anyways VDO was in it. Unfortunately he did a cameo and not a major role. I was (in my dream) walking by the tv. it was on, and VDO was on it. He was dressed as Goren, in the squadroom and all, but was talking to the tv/audience. What was he saying? He was talking about cellphone plans...i think it was a commercial for Telus. Yeah...it was weird. Just had to share that with all of you. -------------------- A wise man never plays leapfrog with a unicorn.

For any news hounds out there...I found this article tidbit interesting. Think of what we all could have done with this money -- like spending it on CI for example! What a media blitz we could have created with this mula! PeachyBC Article from:http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/nbc%20universal%20treasurer%20arrested_1020268 NBC UNIVERSAL TREASURER ARRESTED Former NBC Universal treasurer Victor Jung was arrested on wire-fraud charges in New York Thursday following a federal indictment alleging that he had transferred more than $800,000 from the company's accounts to a bogus company that he had set up. The wire transfers had allegedly been made from NBC U into the dummy corporation that he called NBC U Media Productions. Today's (Friday) Los Angeles Times noted that the name is close to that of an actual NBC Universal subsidiary, NBC Media Productions (without the "U"). According to the indictment, Jung had used some of the money for lavish trips with friends to the Caribbean, spending $387,189 alone on private jets. NBC issued a statement saying that when it discovered the theft, it fired Jung and informed authorities. 26/01/2007 Wow! That is unbelievable. Thanks for that. Wouldn't it be cool if Law and Order worked that into a storyline. |

We don't have the sand/salt or plows to move this stuff! AAAAARGH!!! On the upside, I have my CI DVDs to watch, and the movie 'Imposter' to watch tomorrow should I be snowed in. Okay, quit laughing, yes, 2 inches of snow can snow me in! Trust me, I know! Hey, you're a lil west and south of Chicago, so you can't blame me, it's all your fault...lol.. Like it makes any difference huh? Wow, that sounds really low for you guys. Isn't that a lil unusual for you? I mean, for Chicago, it's normal. We've actually had a warm winter so far, and no where near as much snow as usual, but no matter how many winters I've endured here, which happens to be most of my life, I can't get use to the cold. It actually seems as though it gets worse and worse for me to deal with every year. I know, I'm a wuss, but what can I say, I hate it. It's funny though, when I lived in Florida, I use to miss the snow during the holidays. It just didn't feel right moving xmas trees in 90 degree weather. Not for me anyway. That's actually when I understood how people that have never lived in cold/snow weather, actually want to experience it. Oh, here's a wonderful joke I heard a long time ago, it's kinda fitting: Diary of a Snow Shoveler December 8: 6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! December 9: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life. December 12: The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment .My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor. December 14: Snow, lovely snow! 8″ last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so. December 15: 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4×4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all. December 16: Ice storm this morning. Fell on my a's on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like h'll. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel. December 17: Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room. December 20: Electricity's back on, but had another 14″ of the d'mn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. G'dd'mn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying. December 22: Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white sh't fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to p'ss. By the time I got undressed, p'ssed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think the a'shole is lying. December 23: Only 2″ of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she…nuts??? Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's d'mn well lying. December 24: 6″. Snow packed so hard by snowplow, l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a bi'ch who drives that snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was busy watching for the G'dd'mn snowplow. December 25: Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of the !=3D@x@!x!x1 slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's an idiot. If I have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to kill her. December 26: Still snowed in. Why the h'll did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves. December 27: Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze. December 28: Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in. THE BI'CH is driving me crazy!!! December 29: 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cavein. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am? December 30: Roof caved in. The snow plow driver is suing me for a million dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to her mother . 9″ predicted. December 31: Set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling. January 8: I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed? Vurtgirl -------------------- |

I must have been asleep at the wheel. On the subject of money flying out the door at NBC, does anyone have any ballpark idea of what it costs, in total, to produce an episode of L&O (any flavour)? I'm thinking $2.5-3 million and up. That guesstimate may be woefully short of the mark. -------------------- Lady BWalter Smythe-Plantagenet, Venusian sponge diver

Hey vurt! For God's sake, go back inside! What, are you nuts? It was ten degrees out there today!
I was working up by Gary most of today, so I was a little bit chilly. Okay, so my hands are cracked and bleeding, and I haven't felt my feet in weeks, but it's been a mild winter so far, right? And that goes for you too, easter. Winter is no place for the inexperienced. Yo Peachy! Make a note - "servitudinal" gets added to the dictionary! |

I'm glad you two enjoyed that news story! With all of NBC's wailing and moaning about money problems makes ya wonder who else there might be playing creative accountant. B, Good question about the episode costs. I know that the longer a show is on the air the more expensive it supposedly gets, particularly after 5 years. Not sure why that would be...maybe it's salary star demands or all those guest stars! lol I'll do some poking around and see what I can find out. Peachy Yo Peachy! Found an interesting article on episode costs and the industry in general. A few snippets are below.
Full article can be found at: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111795281...yid=14&cs=1 From 2006 Variety article: Variety.com - Cost conundrum "Industry sources estimate the average cost of a first-year drama rose from about $2.4 million per episode in 2004 to $2.8 million this year. You can see it on the screen, whether it be the massive set-within-a-set on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," James Woods headlining "Shark" or "Jericho" staging a nuclear apocalypse." And ...."Another cost factor, per studio execs, is the sheer size of show casts, creating additional expenses ranging from more makeup artists to more dressing room trailers." And...."The pilot for the star-heavy "Studio 60," for instance, was said to cost more than $6 million, while sources say its price per episode hovers around $2.8 million to $3 million." And..."Dick Wolf predicts a shift away from serialized dramas, in part because they will have a hard time commanding the rerun revenue that procedural shows like his "Law & Order" franchise does. "The math just doesn't make any sense," he says." PeachyBC |

Hope my serialized, but still beloved, "Friday Night Lights" makes it to next season as well. It's such a great show, IMO |
