I couldn't bring myself to read past "Stole my @ss!" In all fairness, though, they're not really metal... I thought there was a progressive rock category - or did that come after the Grammy's were visciously mocked that year? Just goes to show that even when they actually do give to awards to people who deserve them, the boobs just never seem to know how to get it right. *cough***Color Purple***dry hack***Ghost*e'herm* ...heading to the room now, letting valuable laying around doing jack sh*# time pass me by with all this reading, thinking, and typing! one quick note on the other subject, though, until tomorrow: got stuck in protracted lottery-playing/scratch ticket buying cycles twice during the first non-smoking period; it took only two far-spaced casino visits for me to ban myself from going to another one ever again in life... -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE Ah, giving the finger here is rude, but it`s not really a big deal, especially in a joking way. I didn`t even think about it. Sorry if I offended you, I didn`t mean anything by it. Let`s just interpret it as really handing you my finger You know, ladies, giving someone the finger can be a good thing...it just depends on where you put it when you give it. Why don't we all go on a date together? No mascara needed. You don't even have to shave. And we can all play nice. Or not (naydi, get the chains ready!). Whaddya say, this weekend? Who lives most central? |

Girlfriend, I smell a paper in our future. Just gotta figure out which Journal it belongs in. And which accountant to hire so that most of the grant money ends up in our pockets.

QUOTE Sorry. I have no desire to end up on anyone's list. But it does seem to happen with alarming frequency. QUOTE First of all, how dare you characterize the artists who brought Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and The Black Album into this world as "3-chord adolescent angst metal." Have you ever listened to the lyrics on these albums? Yup. Wrote a lot of that sort of stuff myself, in junior high and early high school. QUOTE Second of all, in 1991 the best rock album released was by Metallica, not Jethro Tull. Had the Grammy people recognized Rock earlier, there would have been plenty of opportunities where Tull would justifiably have won. But NOT in 1991. (In fact, given the way Metallica have gone in the last couple years, Tull would probably justifiably deserve a Grammy over them today, but NOT in '91). '91 is kind of hazy for me, so I can't really argue that. And I've never actually watched the Grammy's so I don't know about the categories. I do know that I've never liked metal; it's one of the few forms of music that I really, absolutely cannot stand to listen to. And I know that I like Tull, and have since I was a kid. Matter of opinion. If you'd like, we can swap lyrics. Maybe we can find some common ground there, at least. Or we can let it drop, before the gawkers start circling for a flame war. But I sincerely did not mean to p!ss you off. I'm sorry. |

Jethro Tull isn't metal! He has no business winning a Grammy for metal! He's rock, hard rock, heavy rock, but not metal. It's not even a matter of which artist is better. Comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. And what makes it even worse is that this was the first year the Grammy's awarded a Metal Grammy, and they specifically asked Metallica to play as the Metal act. Then they hand the award to Jethro Tull, whose particular album that year did not sell as well as The Black Album and had no where near the amount of play time.
I'm sorry but Metallica is my baby, my number one band. And they are behind only Zepplin, Sabbath and the other grandfathers of metal. And that isn't just my opinion, a quick search of the web and you'll see. |

...so my pre-lounging peace pipe passing post didn't do jack to help avoid this? Please don't be mad about this! (if you even actually are - I'm reading more defensive passion than I am real anger...) I do fear seeing a circle gathering to chant 'Fight!' 'Fight!' 'Fight!' though, and some less well-intentioned thread lurker just poised to decide to come in now, all of a sudden having something to say, just for the sake of jumping into the Kool-Aid without even knowing what the flavor is. (yeeeah, you know you've missed that phrase - don't act like you haven't) Sing with me now and heal... ...i can't remember anything...can't tell if this is true or dream...deep down inside i feel a scream...this terrible silence stops me....now that the war is through with me...i'm waking up i can now see...that there's nothing left of me...nothing is real but pain now.... You know, ladies, giving someone the finger can be a good thing... ...just the one finger? hummmm, maybe I do need to slow down a bit... maybe, buy just 1/2 a case of supplies for the revolution, huh? there is still nothing like the smell of freshly mimeographed assignment papers.... it was all that communal huffing that made school so much more tolerable and downright inticing a chore in the 70's and early 80's -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Who lives most central? I think you win being in the home of da Bears... Or, actually, maybe I do, if we take Seraph's whole needing to cross the Atlantic Ocean into account. All I know is that, with my clinical schedule this weekend, I just won't have the time to collect fitting specimens... If I only knew yesterday, I wouldn't have completed my work with such expediency. I'm such a terrible late hour host! Ooo - Cvl, could you maybe borrow one of the busses for the weekend to bring one of yours with you??? I'm sure the company wouldn't mind... I've no doubt that you have delightful taste. Airport security is far too high for Seraph to risk. I have heard stories, though, of her being remarkably efficient at gathering upon arrival at new locales... -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Mmm, I s'pose I could just hijack one of the rigs. You don't mind if there's still a patient in the back, do you? I'll make sure it's not a cardiac patient, for both our sakes. Come to think of it, someone from a nursing home, with a DNR? Not too many questions being asked then. Need to know what Seraph likes, though (I know you're not all that picky). |

Just an irrational metabolic negativity. I will say that one of the guys from Sabbath used to play with Tull, for all that's worth. And I agree that Metallica is probably a **** of a lot more popular than Tull, even in their prime. And I agree with naydi, who says we should make peace before some idiot steps in and things get ugly. Agree to disagree? |

......(I know you're not all that picky). ..yes, Seraph, a shopping list would be good... all I really ask is that it not include any former makeup artist goths sporting new highly unadvisable bright yellow buzz cuts... Need to know what Seraph likes, though (I know you're not all that picky). Seraph likes to stay out of this one and is, quite frankly, really happy about that little thing called 'ocean'. I`m faking a fear of flying just for arguments` sake. And I know about phobias You guys don`t even need me Ooooooh I should stay out of this thread, I`m not funny, just tired. To little sleep and to many social things, so I`m drained. I have a book on my computer somewhere with some nice suggestions on how to make sure people around you don`t notice you. Something for you two perhaps? -------------------- If I could look beyond your face And photograph your hidden place Would I find you smiling in the picture? Serious Request |

Aaaw, hon... I keep completely forgetting about the English as a second (?or third?) language thing! Playthings for the alter-ego story arc was the intended unspoken object of the sentence. Looking back, I see that another of my bad typos turned my attempt at saying locals (as in indigenent specimens for the weekend's activities) into locales (as in places), which makes no kind of d'mn sense at all no matter what tongue it's translated into!

Seraph likes to stay out of this one and is, quite frankly, really happy about that little thing called 'ocean'. Aw, Seraph, we didn't mean to scare you. We really are very nice people. Just come out of the corner and step into our parlor...that's it...we have some candy, little girl... QUOTE You guys don`t even need me But, we do need you! Everybody knows three is a magic and powerful number...and besides, we need a straight man... QUOTE And you lost me again, Naydi! You are really putting my English skills to the test. Don't worry, hon. I'm not only a native speaker, I have a d@mn degree in the stuff, and she still loses me sometimes. It's not a matter of language skills - it's the ideas behind the words. Naydi's sentences are being spawned by a seriously warped and demented mind, and it takes an equally disturbed individual to keep up. QUOTE Ooooooh I should stay out of this thread, I`m not funny, Sure you are! We're not laughing at you, we're laughing with you. Promise! |

Second language, learned it pretty early by myself (tv and internet), before we got it in school. It`s okay, but geez, you are putting my skills to the test And then you make it harder for me with those typos hahahaha. No, but the same goes for me, but I obviously pick up locals instead of locales. It`s a word we use in Dutch so I`ve made smarter remarks here. I think. Or at least somewheree else. Anywhere. Honestly. But eh, you two have fun this weekend. I expect the pictures in my mailbox as soon as you get back. Will you guys walk the chihuahua? Edited because "pretty okay" in that particular sentence made me sound like a bored 16-year old chewing gum with her mouth open. -------------------- If I could look beyond your face And photograph your hidden place Would I find you smiling in the picture?
