Aha, NOW I understand what the post about bombs and decoys was all about. I was afraid to ask, in case the whole matter had been explained a million pages back. I can just imagine the finger-pointing - middle, perhaps, but definitely index - over at Turner and the marketing agency. Forget the fingers, come watch the heads roll! (And it sounded like such a fabulous, groovy idea, ya know, around the burl-walnut conference table, after a dozen shots or so of Aquavit). I had to laugh that, in the American newspaper photograph, the offending finger has been cropped out! Oh, you Puritans are so adorable.

Just a matter of people stepping up into a position not offered to them out of their own sense of feeling incomplete. Now, I could see this happening if I was one of those woman who can't make up their mind on what to eat for lunch, let alone what she wants to do with her life, but No - I'm quite obviously the opposite. So, whyyyy, then, anyone would take it upon themselves to try to start directing traffic is beyond me. The last one -a nurse who used to call me at 2 in the morning over some stupid sh't she did to someone for which she was now wanted to play the victim (31 having to spend her energy yelling at an adolescent 46 yr old!! "see, you're a good balance...." gee - lucky me)- went as far as trying to push me out of pursuing nursing just because she managed to carve a career she hated out of it. Kept trying to push me out of it for months, LOUDLY; going even as far as 'Do you know how much they're offering to pay teachers in Connecticut?!?!'. People trying to rectify their lives through you after having gained your confidence under the guise of friendship. GAH!!! Take care of your own dead weight, Please - Thank you! -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, Jordanriver, this thread doesn't bear close inspection. Or distant inspection, for that matter. We should rename it The Bog

Naydi, you could consider showbiz, actually!!!! I just read yesterday in some article where the film and TV studios employ a large staff of RNs - always looking for them. You might rub shoulders with the stars (or, in your case, they would rub shoulders with a star RN) "Heavy sigh" I wish our salaries started at 6 figures here. $22.00 an hour to start. Yeck I do have a girlfriend who works prn on movie sets down here (they do alot of filming here in the Sunshine State) She said it is 2 hours of excitement followed by unrelenting boredom for several weeks. You put band-aids on boo-boo and call 911 occasionaly. She did have a grip that had an MI once. She took vitals and called 911. NBC is surely not promoting CI the way it needs to if it wants it to succeed. I think it has given up with House and The Unit facing it. Maybe they could move it somewhere out of the line of fire. Folks may not want back to back L&O on the same night. Wednesday at 10 (Medium is not doing all that well) or back to Sundays now that football is over might be a better spot for it. Gotta agree the writing needs to improve if the show is to have any chance. -------------------- from Nero Wolfe "I cannot put sense into a fools brain. I have tried."

The EMTs who responded when your friend called 911 probably make about half that - and had to actually run the code. |

It is the starting salary for staff nurses in the local community hospital. The nurse on the set could run the code (we all can in ICU) but needs to work under the hospital/physician umbrella which she does not have on a movie set, thereby necessitating the call to 911. Otherwise I think they call it practicing medicine without a license. -------------------- from Nero Wolfe "I cannot put sense into a fools brain. I have tried."

EMS laws vary from state to state as far as how much we can do while not under active medical control, and it's pretty free where I live - encouraged, even. |
