Hi DonnaLucy! Yes, I'm fine, thankyou. I missed you guys. smile.gif
I've also been wondering where V-K Fan is for a long time now. Has anyone heard anything? Does anyone talk to her outside of the board?
Vincent-Kathryn Fan, if you're reading this, we miss you and hope you are ok.
Hope we didn't do anything to make you go away. unsure.gif

What's up with all the MIAs lately? Do we need to get Anthony LaPaglia over here or what?

Good to see you, vurt! Hope you stick around (you have a calming influence on naydi). blink.gif

Yeah, hiya vurt kiddo! Cvl was working up to getting out her personal snowplow to dig you out. And V-K fan? Ou es tu, anyway?

I'm so behind in my reading on this effing board that I/m dashing between threads. Bloody NBC, give us subsections or whatever they're called! Are the budgets so tight the Peacock can't afford the bandwidth ? Getting posts organised in this place must be like the proverbial herding of cats for Rowe. For myself, I'm finding buried treasure in the most unlikely spots. Should be unburied. God knows where I'm going to find my forthcoming music appreciation course by Naydi. What to do, what to do... Call on Frances Goren to 'librarianise' the joint, maybe.

Darlin' - whenever you find buried treasure, please shoot me a PM so I can unearth it and put it in its rightful place. I've been behind myself these days. smile.gif

Mari: The picture you paint is just horrible. I do hope some changes come sooner rather than later; though, as you've shared, it won't be anytime literally "soon". It's a shame to be in fear of the random horrible crime AND then have the addtional fear of having justice officials make a complete mockery of your suffering, thereafter, if anything should actually happen! Nothing stresses me more, actually, than being trapped under a feeling of a complete lack of security - that recognition of the fact that I am and could continue for some time to be living in a state of certain uncertainty about a particulary major issue. **shiver**

Well Naydi, lest you fear, the odds of any Canadian being victimized is astronomically low. To me, as you deduce, the true betrayal is lack of justice. First hand I've watched judges rule, "I want to send a strong message." Then hand down a three year sentence; (for beating a girl within an inch of her life with a hammer) that was what this nitwit considered a strong message? (Out in two, time credited pending trial, he walked up to the vic on the street and said "Boo". That's how she found out he was out.) Do you think that violated his parole? Yep. Did he get re-arrested? Yep. Did he go back in to the big house? Nope. He hadn't reoffended in two years. Honestly, that was what the JP said. Kind of hard to reoffend in the pen. I know, this happens in America too, and the UK, and Australia. Wrong no matter where it is. I suppose I bought into all that stuff they tell you as a child about right and wrong, good and bad, and standing up for victims.... sad.gif
I do happen to believe that so long as people stand up, it can make a difference, even if it takes a long time. I know that sounds silly, and I'm known as being a pragmatist, if not a cynic; but I do think if you keep at it sooner or later something good sticks. wink.gif It pays to keep your eyes open, and your wits about you, in any case, at all times. Not to be paraniod, but reasonably aware.
Mari

BTW, I have gone to post on the L&O board, I've watched the mothership since the first ep (yeah, I'm suddenly thinking now I can't lie about my age). I don't watch SVU often, so I haven't really been over there much, they are pretty vocal too, but I deduce that it is we CIers who are super passionate about our favourite show, and seem to be able to talk about it endlessly, with deep insight. This kind of fan loyalty and interest is rare, and unlike phenom shows where it burns brightly then flames out, NBC has a chance to look at this dispassionately and see what loyal viewers we are. This is all to the good. Have to ad that healthy fanship is what I'm extolling here. (In joke in light of some stuff...)

Just finished reading one book I borrowed from a friend. It was really inspiring. It helps me forget all the stress and troubles that upset me. As if, nothing ever happened. I love the book so much I can’t wait to visit the store to get a copy of my own. That was worth reading for. It was a wonderful way to spend on a nice Saturday afternoon. smile.gif

I saw it. I really liked that movie. I like how everything came together at the end. It was cool. I made my friend watch it last year. She hates anything but comedies yet she actually really liked that movie. Erbe was great in it and Kevin Bacon...well I don't like him but i did like him in this movie.

Hi Keiko12,
That sounds like a good book! I love reading, I read a new book every two or three days. What was the title and author? This might be an idea, here on OT or on a thread, since we have L&O CI (and or SVU/L&O) in common, we might like sharing books we enjoyed with each other? Like a CI Fan Book Club? smile.gif

Hi alliehalliwell, and Keiko12 again! I love 'Stir of Echoes'! That's the movie that my friend loves so much when he saw KE was on CI he began watching to see her again, and now adores CI. I have the special ed. DVD and I watch it at least every month. It was supernatural, and in a case of bad timing, came out in theatres like a week after 'The Sixth Sense' and got lost in the shuffle. It was also a straight up murder mystery too, I thought it was really cool how Kevin's character began to empathise with the murder victim through ghostly events, and then felt determined to get justice for her. I loved Kate's performance, she was funny, exasperated/worried, then she had to change her mind when she believed what was happening, and ends up saving the day! Agree with Roger Ebert who felt it was unjustly overlooked. biggrin.gif

This is an edit of my original post commenting on something that Naydi discovered at the reel (thanks Nay!).

There was a "faked" story today about VDO having an accident in New Zealand. It's not true, in fact the website that originated the story has no one's name in the story at all. People are encouraged (!) to put their own name or friends name in to the URL which will insert their name into any number of wacky stories. It's not stored anywhere, it was not a fake press release that was distributed anywhere. Someone thought it would be funny (Oh, yeah. Hahaha. Real funny.) to put VDO's name into one of the stories and then sent the link to a fan...who panicked and sent it to the reel. After some investigation, the story doesn't exist. The story is fictious, anyone's name can be inserted into it, it is not saved on their server, nor is it distributed anywhere. It's totally a prank and is unrelated to Vincent's name specifically.

The reel has taken the link down so as not to give publicity to this weirdo website. Why anyone would want to "scare" their family and friends with this kind of gag is preposterous, but hey, what do I know? I'm not hip, I guess. In any case, I've deleted all our previous messages about it and we can get on with our lives.

Man - too much crap in the news this week. I KNOW WHAT WE NEED!!! "BROTHER'S KEEPER"!!!
