Woooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo! That's my girl! Yup, yup, that smart one over there in the scrubs! Way to go, naydi...I know how much this means to you. Congrats!

Now, go forth and practice!

Let me dedicate my life today
to the care of those
who come my way.

Let me touch each one
with healing hands
and the gentle art
for which I stand.

And when tonight
when the day is done.
Oh, let me rest in peace
if I have helped just one...

Rowe,
Sorry, for the topic, i really had no idea it would get that reaction. I figured since some people had been say they were obsesive about somethings, i was just thinking that it... nvm it doesnt matter, just sorry. I wasnt trying to be disrespectful at all. I guess i should have thought about that. sorry for my mistake.

Well, I'm going to step out of the PC line here, and ask: WHAT was offensive? Provocative, yes. (Is there nothing NOT sacred? ) The poll vs the posts were informative too. Who is really OCD - as Naydi explained it- and who is, like most of us, only passingly preoccupied with a subject? And for those for whom OCD is a very real impediment - I salute you all - how in the world was this thread hurtful?

I took the time to look up OCD. Now I know a h*ll of a lot more than I did 48 hours ago. Is this a bad thing? Cannot we address difficult afflictions with good humour? Aren't asking and laughing and acquiring information essential to coping and understanding, on both sides of the fence?

I had the feeling that some members of this board found the topic theraputic. People bothered to vote. Look at the tally. No one was door-knocked on this. Speak or don't speak. The choice is so grindingly simple.

It seems to me that the question was posed not only in good faith, but in response to intimations made by several people here. Good for you. Thanks for raising the issue.

Maybe I was too flip in my non-OCD own post, and that may have sent hackles rising. Too bad. It seems to me that psychological and physical illnesses are only reinforced by pious respect and tiptoe treatment. Sunlight and laughter are scientifically sound applications for many disorders. Let the treatment begin here. It sure can't hurt.

Okay, so shoot me.

I agree with you, bwalter. There was nothing offensive posted that I could see. Isn't there a wildly popular TV series with a character with mild OCD called MONK?

I'm sure Rowe did receive some pm's about it. And I certainly don't want to come off insensitive. I don't have this condition, so I can't relate to how a person would feel about it being brought up. What I DO know is that CIlover2 meant no harm.

If a person wanted to, they could have a problem with anything.

Not to change the subject but...Does any one know why VDO
hasn't been on Inside the Actors Studio? Wondering if
he has declined or if James Lipton has not yet asked.
I realize he is a private person but hes been on other
interview type shows.

I would so love to see him inteviewed by James Lipton
and answer those ending questions. I checked through
all the seasons of this Bravo series but no VDO.

Any ideas???? Please!!!

I just read with interest moderator rowe's topic (now locked) on privacy issues.

While I completely agree that this NBC-operated forum is strictly a place to discuss the show, its fictional characters and the work of the professional actors -- I only wanted to add that there should never be guilt or shame associated with being called a "fan."

Definition from Wikipedia:
The difference between a fan and a fanatic is that while both have an overwhelming liking or interest in a given subject, behaviour of a fanatic will be viewed as violating prevailing social norms, while that of a fan will not violate those norms (although is usually considered unusual). (Thorne&Bruner 2006).

I think all of us will agree that this is a safe and normal way to share our mutual liking or interest -- within the kind moderator's boundaries and without violating anyone's privacy, of course.

Also, if anyone's interested, there is a most EXCELLENT book by Michael Joseph Gross called Starstruck: When a Fan Gets Close to Fame about the topic of fandom, what attracts (ALL of) us to certain celebrities throughout our lives and how some people, unfortunately, can't perceive fantasy from reality. Those sickos are most certainly not fans at all.

i gotta IMac too, dont think thats the problam, but other than that, i am no help. sorry.

ok, so i had this brilliant idea yesterday. I think that a majority of the CI fans are somewhat OCD. i think this because a lot of people have said that they are OCD on this board.Sso i want to make a poll thing and see how many people on this board (who are most likely people who love CI) are OCD. So, can someone tell me how to do that please?? thank you!

hmmmm Do I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder? I don't think I do. I mean I like to be organized but I can't say that I do. Isn't that what Monk has? lol!

Just because someone is obsessed about something doesn't mean they have OCD. Though I personally did not find it offensive, I can see where others would. I actually saw on Dr. Phill, yes I watch Dr. Phill dry.gif , that a woman was so obsessed with germs that she washed her entire body with bleach every day! OUCH!!! OCD can be pretty bad and though it is curable, it is considered a menatal dissorder; at least that is what my Psycology professor had said.

I'v been an RN for #*## years- I graduated just as the earth was cooling LOL. Congradulations!! I remember the wait to know about boards-it took weeks to get the results then. Now you guys know a lot faster. Saves on anxiety medications. What kind of nursing do you plan to do?
Always happy to hear about a new member of the group.
Nila

Why did I not know you were a nurse??? Or did I but you've been really quiet about it? On Friday morning, I ended up walking the building from one end to the other, up the fire steps on either side, up to the fourth floor, then back down here to the basement. It's a good thing that Peggy, the one woman in the office who did, quit smoking last year because I would have ended up starting again!! After the h'll I went through to quit the last time (joined an MGH study in order to do it - thankfully, I avoided getting the dreaded placebo...) that's saying a lot!!!

Once I get my min. 1 year of med/surg under my belt, I'll be heading to an ICU. From there the plan ends - for now... wink.gif

You raise interesting points here, b.... I, though I didn't complain, did privately offer my thanks for respecting the wishes of those who did by deleting the thread; as I was taken a-back by the subject, myself. My brief offering of information on REAL OCD was actually an expression of my frustration with the trivialization of the disease, while trying not to be the heavy _for once! wink.gif My being startled by the very idea began, actually, when suggestion of creating the thread came up here in the Off-Topic.

It is a very fine line to tread - The line between informing and over-simplifying. It's just like what occured toward the end of the Albatross thread. There, an attempt to inform ended up trivializing - here, an attempt, inadvertant as it was, to trivialize ended up informing. Maybe it would have been good to see what type of response would have been received following the disclosure of further information. If knowing that real OCD is nothing to be toyed with, perhaps the tone would have changed a bit toward people respecting the true suffering endured by those with the disease and everyone around them. On the other hand, if a "Yeah, Whatever, naydi" response was received and the condition continued to be treated as a joke with no realization on the part of those participating that "Demonstrating Care and Responsibility For Your Actions Toward Others" is a right and honorable thing to do - then a deletion of the thread would have, most certainly, needed to have been made. In fairness, though, it had to have been a very hard call to make; especially having seen the string of responses made before that point...

Do I read an incredible underestimation of your work? Because if so, please go stand in the corner! Nurses are the groundwork for any health care organization and you canNOT be missed. You are responsible for the direct care that patients get and it doesn`t get much more respectable than that. And where I work right now, nurses are the ones that implent the little things we think up (together with and with info from the nurses) and who observe the patients 24/7. It doesn`t matter if it`s in a general hospital or a psychiatric hospital or a old peoples home or whatever. Understood? You can come out of the corner again then.

Then again you can simply mean you`re out of a job right now or mean something else in which case I so completely misunderstood I will go stand in the corner myself. biggrin.gif

Got freakin flu we think. uggggggggggggg

so If i seem irritatted and cranky forgive mee.

Never in my life have I had the flu... s'Part of, well, is the reason why I had to practically have my arm twisted in order to get a flu shot this year "for the good of the public".(<--EDITED; would have been nice if I'd orignally said what 'one' was, huh?!! gaaaah...) Nevermind the fact that not one of the geniuses trying to lay on the guilt trip could tell me just What in the H'll the Difference for the public is between my body being able to fight off flu strains on its own all these years and my body being able to fight off flu strains on its own after being briefly introduced to last year's? Either way - the incubation period in which there are no symptoms will still be there; therefore, if anyone's going to catch the flu from me during the incubation period while I'm without symptoms while my body successfully fights the bug off - they've no less chance of catching it if my body's fighting during the same period after having a shot!! So whyyyyyy are you trying to force me to mess with my body's tried and true a**-kicker of an immune system?

Ah well..... getting it shut them all the h'll up, at least...

I found this cast call tidbit the other day. The casting call went out 12/27/2006, so the episode shoot has already happened. I don't recall seeing these twins in any episode so far, do any of you??

Here's the casting call blurb:

"Law & Order Criminal Intent" is looking for African-American twins that are between 6 months and one year for featured extra work on the next episode of LOCI. We prefer boys or at least girls who can pass for boys with the right wardrobe. It will be shooting in the beginning of January.....
