Anyone want to be a mod? Options

So remember how we don't have any mods and how that can get annoying? And remember over the summer when they asked for mods and none of us volunteered because we're horrible, lazy people? Well, they're asking for mods again. Maybe at least one of us should volunteer now?

You have to be 18 and live in the US. Why, I don't know... Because as a fellow forum *****, SCZ would be perfect for this (that's a compliment. ) Maybe they would make an exception?

I am thinking about volunteering, but I'd need help, so I'm only going to do this if someone else volunteers too. Maybe SOJ? Sev? Paidtowatch? What do you guys think? If I volunteer I am definitely saying I would only do it if someone else was made a mod with me. And I've been a mod at another Conan board, so I can tell the admin that I will help you guys out since you've never been mods before. (I think they want people who've been mods, but they may make exceptions since I don't think many people will be "applying".)

Mods would have these responsibilities: "starting conversation relevant to the show/actors/characters, deleting offensive posts that violate our terms of service/board rules, merging posts/topics with similar subject matter, reporting repeat offenders to [the admin] for account suspension, and being a friendly resource to other users on the boards."

The only reason I really want to do this is to keep out the spam and trolls and merge topics. And I don't really start topics, and I don't think I would as a mod, mainly because I think that's taken care of by enough other people usually.

I'll do it with you, LNG. I don't know much about the mod-level of using the boards, but I could probably figure it out.

I want to be able to stop the trolling and the multiple topic postings. And I want to be able to pin posts (info on getting tickets, etc.)

That would be cool. My only concern is that it says they're looking for people who've been mods elsewhere, but no one else who posts here has (that I'm aware of). I will explain to the admin that I'm not doing it alone, and I will show the others the ropes (after all it's not terribly difficult.) I think it would be cool if a few of us expressed interest in this, because we do all have lives outside of the internet (har har har), and being a mod at a place like this is a lot of work for just 1 or even 2 people. It's definitely a lot to keep up with, so I think the more mods, the better. However I'm not an admin, so sadly I have no control over who becomes a mod.

Ooops... are the majority of my posts in direct violation of the board rules? Forgot about that. Well I could get another user name to moderate with.
If I was a mod here though, would I have to stop typing naughty words (like "f@rt")? And stop posting naughty material? Oh man ... screw this. I love how I'm typing this like the admin can't read it. Darn I'm not going to be picked after all.

Maybe they'd make an exception with you. That rule about living in the US doesn't make sense anyway. It's the internet, which is worldwide, so why does it matter where you live? I think you have the most posts on this board, and you'd be a perfect mod. Keep in mind that the hornymanatee.com rules said you had to be a US resident to submit stuff, which you're not, and your video still made it on the show. No rules are actually carried out in the world of Conan.

The rules dont apply to me because I am special and they know I am awesome!

Yup, being a mod here is officially the worst idea I've ever had.

Does anyone want to tell me where the board rules even are so I can see how badly I'm violating them? I know I saw them once a few months ago, but I honestly cannot find them anymore. How can I follow rules if I don't know what they are? (That's my brilliant excuse for any past violations. )

Yes. haha... His other defense would be that he didn't understand anything that was posted and later deemed inappropriate.

So I have volunteered to be a mod. And I'm guessing it will be the worst decision I've ever made. Everyone else must apply too ... like we agreed .... remember? Moderating a forum board is a simple task. You just need to monitor every single post and most often a board with a sizeable membership appoints several mods and assigns them each their own section to over see. It is really quite an enjoyable time.
