Hi raymel1,

This is a question that has not been answered yet. Knowing what I know about The Tonight Show, I think that the show will move to Burbank. I, like Conan, grew up hating NYC and everything that it stands for, with its cultural elitism etc., but I guess there is a chance that NBC will find Conan a place in that city to do the show. But the access to celebrity guests in NY is not as high as in California, the promised land. So I guess we'll have to wait and see, though I really do think that NBC will dispatch Conan to the west coast in 2009.

L.A. doesn't have an 'image' like NYC, in fact, it has NO 'image', when people think of the West Coast, they think Hollywood. Hollywood celebrities are dimwitted dimbulbs who talk about how they tripped and broke a fingernail and had to wear a bandaid and EVERYBODY wanted to know what happened -- the kind of prattle you can hear in any ladies' hair salon, all day long.

If Conan's going to CA, he better learn Spanish -- it's in the air!

It may just be me, as I have never been to either NY or LA, but it seems to me, that Conan get's his "flavor" from being in New York. Granted, there are more Hollywood Stars in Burbank, but we all know where BROADWAY is.
I don't know that Conan's show would have the kind of Following of people, if it were done in LA.

Either place is suitable in my opinion, but I really don't see the Growth for Conan's Audience if he is indeed moved.
If it were music, Conan would easily be Billy Joel's, New York State of Mind, or even Italian Restaurant....while Jay Would be more of Randy Newman, I Love L.A. or It's Money that matters....

I guess I will probably be disapointed, at least at 1st, if Conan moves to L.A. the show just wont "feel right" to me, but then again, it's going to be a totally new show.....instead of Late Night with Conan O'brien....it will become The Tonight Show with Conan O'brien. Something there just doesnt feel right...Whatever happens, Ill be watching to see Conan O'brien whatever the show is called. unsure.gif

I dont think the "access" to celebrity guests really makes a difference. Conan has a TON of cool guests on right now anyways. I think I will be a little disappointed if he moves to LA, because it is... different. It just doesnt seem as exciting and full of life as NYC. I've been to both cities and I 100% prefer NYC. Even though that doesnt really translate to which would be a better place for talk shows, I think that Conan just BELONGS in New York. Plus it would be a good change for the Tonight Show. Its so boring now with Leno, so when Conan takes over I would expect it to be dramatically different. Funnier, for one thing, and hopefully in a new location.

For what its worth, I hope Conan stays right where he is, doing just what he has been doing with exactly the same people, Max and all. All I want is him on a bit earlier so I can catch him even when I have to get up earlier.

I don't see how what Letterman is doing or what the image of LA or NYC has to do with anything. NBC should know that when you have a good thing you don't change it.

That may be putting too much faith in the #4 network and their ability to make a good decision, but I could be wrong.

Yes, Bob, this is a point I can't get these fan girls (oh, I'm sorry, "grrls") to see, but nobody listens to me on the Conan board anyway. As far as I'm concerned, Letterman's new contract keeping him in NYC until 2010 is the nail in the coffin for Conan in New York. I remember that Letterman was asked by CBS to consider a studio in their production center in LA, but the money spent on the Sullivan theater was overwhelmingly in favor of his show remaining in NYC. As I recall, Bob, you in particular had an objection to Letterman doing his show from a proscenium stage instead of a broadcast studio.

SOJ - I'm sorry that you feel the fan girls aren't listening to you. When it comes to the NYC vs. LA dilemma, I think alot of people are in denial and are reluctant about Conan/the show moving from NY. In reality, all signs are pointing towards Conan going to LA. We even know Conan has been house-hunting in LA, and he asks alot of people (on the show) what it's like to raise kids in LA, so those 2 things are probably the best proof of all.

Oh, we're listening to you, SOJ. I know that Conan will end up in LA and it breaks my heart. So, as long as I can continue to say "Oh, well it hasn't been announced, so I don't know for sure!" I'll do so. I know there's no chance NBC will keep him out in NY because his successor will be there. I won't ever get to see the show in person but there are plenty of tourists willing to pack that Tonight Show audience every night. So don't think that us fan girls aren't listening to you. We're like an ostrich - see something you don't like and stick your head underground and hope it goes away. (And I don't mean you are what we don't like, I mean the Conan in LA thing)

SOJ Im so sorry, I do listen, I just really, really dont want it to be true. I want to keep that hope alive that maybe, just maybe he might stay in New York. We all know he's going to LA, I know noone said anything definite yet but we all know its coming. But part of me is still keeping that little hope alive until they actually say 100% Conan is moving to LA. So until then I cannot accept or listen to anyone, it crushes the hope!

I don't want Conan to move. He belongs to be in NY. I just can't see him in LA. And he's far enough now so he doesn't have to move any further. NY is a much more interesting place.

Well, for the doubters, here's a glimmer of an answer. Not that I trust everything (or much of anything) that Page Six says, but Conan is house-hunting in L.A. Link here:

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06112007/gossi...id_pagesix_.htm

I've said all along this would happen, but I thought I'd let everyone know so we can get the wave of complaints out of the way and start thinking about what the future of Conan's TV career will be.

And let the NY lovers' complaints begin:

Hmmm..... maybe he's doing that like just in case?? I mean, he just bought a new penthouse in NYC.

And if you're a rich celeb like Conan, I think it's reasonable to have a home on both coasts unsure.gif (where else could he put all his money in anyway??)

....right everyone?? RIGHT??

It was confirmed that he was in LA sometime during the dark week of May 26th, if this fan story by "doctorkananga" is correct: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005277/board/nest/70693921?p=2

But I don't believe anything about the Tonight Show until it is confirmed by a real source, like Conan or NBC. I think he's just looking for a house in LA, not necessarily to live for the Tonight Show, but just to have when he visits over there, since most celebrities have a place in both NY and LA. It has not been confirmed that he will do the Tonight Show in LA, so I'm not making any assumptions.

There's no for sure on anything surrounding "The Tonight Show" yet, but I would doubt Andy's return as Conan's sidekick

It would be awesome but like Severina says it is doubtful. Andy wanted to move on and do his own thing, so going back to being Conans sidekick would be returning to his old state of mind.
