I would like to see that happen, and we all know he sure isnt going to be able to have his own tv show evidently. He has tried numerous times. sad01.gif

I really hope they don't go to LA. LA is so tan and icky. If they had to go to a city in California I wish they could go to San Franciso that is a cool town. New York is such a good place for that show. You know that the audiences in LA would totally not be as good as in other more interesting cities. Chicago would be cool, I think. Now that this has popped into my mind I can not get it out of my head if Conan did the Show from New Orleans. He could even have a crazy float in the Mardi Gras Parade. He is Catholic, it might be a perfect match, or the biggest mistake of his life. ehe.

I know this doesn't exactly fit this thread, but putting it elsewhere risks publicizing an earlier misunderstanding...

Ben Silverman, the new head of Entertainment at NBC, came out with the message, again, that Conan will indeed replace Jay in 2009. And, just as I had predicted earlier, they say they're looking for something for Jay in primetime, Mr. Leno being an important asset to the network. Perhaps Jay will pull a Steve Allen.

Hi SonOfJoel,

Thanks for posting the article about Conan O' Brien, --that he will definitely be taking over the Tonight Show in 2009. That cleared up a lot of strange speculations. -Also your comment about Jay, well, here again, you're right as usual. biggrin.gif Thankssssssssss for the updates.

Hi Sssarui!!!!! biggrin.gif Hey, I don't think Conan has a choice where he goes to do the Tonight Show. --Expect him to continue the Tonight Show tradition, that Johnny Carson started since 1972, by hosting it in LA.
I bet you would love LA, there are places there that are so beautiful with so much Hollywood history to see- which is a must see for me. wub.gif

I forget about all the Hollywood history and every thing there. What ever the case I know that Conan will make the show his own and add his own flavor to every thing.

From "After 'Tonight,' will Jay stay at NBC?: Execs want Leno to remain at network - Variety - July 20, 2007

"...NBC is in talks with O'Brien and his staff on a move from Studio 6A at 30 Rock to Los Angeles. NBC latenight and primetime EVP Rick Ludwin believes O'Brien and much of his staff will ultimately make the move, though there has been some resistance. Johnny Carson brought the show to L.A. 35 years ago and Ludwin says the original reasons for the move are still relevant: a bigger studio and proximity to stars. A final decision on the move is expected early next year..."

They talked about this in Hot Topics on "The View" today. It was kind of annoying because they were just saying that Conan was getting the $40 million pay-off, without stating that is was a rumor. Then they compared it to Walter Chronkite (however you spell it) and Dan Rather. Like suggesting that Leno has many more years in him to do the Tonight Show. But the opposing argument was that they should get the younger guy (Conan). I just can't stand all of this speculation. I'm not gonna believe anything until NBC officially announces it.

Did you see the pole, it is unanimous 100% that Conan should stay in New York. NBC stop shooting yourself in the foot on this!

I couldn't agree with this more. wink.gif

Could the friendly neighborhood mods kindly pin my new cool poll? Pretty please smile.gif?

[or.... unite the poll and this thread as one?]

laugh.gif Really? They talked about this on "The View"? Well, I suppose that's what Conan gets for teasing them since the moment they went on air.
"Hey, blonde one. You suck!" Perhaps Conan can finally realize his dream of a Joy Behar - Conan O'Brien feud???

LOL I know!! Joy was the main one talking about it, too. She said "wow, he must have a good agent" and then the Elisabeth said "Go Conan!" I was just excited to hear them talk about him, even if some of the stuff they were saying is just rumors.

Did they mention his hotness? wink.gif
Meredith Viera was always good for that, she always mentioned how she couldn't sleep before going on his show because she could feel the sexual tension. laugh.gif And now she works in the same building. If I were her, even though they're both married, I'd think up ways to "accidentally" run into him while at work. Not to do anything, just to look. Just to appreciate what a fine specimen of man he is. What's that saying? "Just because you're on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu!"

Anyway, Conan should stay in NY, etc, etc.

LOL! unfortunately they never mentioned his hotness. They did actually get on the subject because they were talking about hair. Then Joy goes "speaking of hair..." and gets into the whole Tonight Show/Conan thing. hehe wub.gif

"Ludwin says there are those who want Tonight Show to move back to New York, where it began, and thus O'Brien's move to California 'hasn't been completely nailed down.' Moving the Tonight Show back to New York would set the stage for a vicious in-town booking war between NBC and CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman for guests. Ludwin says NBC has to announce its plans by next May’s upfront presentation in New York."

D'oh. I just tried to merge your poll into this thread, and all the votes were deleted. sad01.gif I know there were 7 votes for NYC and 1 for LA. But everybody is going to have to vote again, sorry. (You can call me Lurlene. laugh.gif)
