NBC Monday Nights:
A broad topic to be sure. With the new fall schedule for 2007-2008, Journeyman (aka, Quantum Leap 2007) will be forever part of NBC Mondays. I am starting this thread to talk about NBC Monday nights past, present, & future. When a new show such as Journeyman joins the lineup, it will be air alongside our current favorites (Deal or No Deal, Heroes), while at the same time replacing several old friends. Based on 2007 so far, Journeyman is being asked to fill the shoes of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Black Donnelly's, Thank God You're Here, The Real Wedding Crashers & Dateline. I will probably sample Journeyman for the following reasons. It follows two shows I already watch on Mondays (DOND, Heroes). While S60 filled that slot, I got into a habit of watching NBC's monday at 10 PM. While I will forever mourn the loss of that great show, I am not adverse to being entertained at that hour by an equally compelling show. In all honesty, I am curious to see this show, with a premise so obviously stolen from Quantum Leap, an ORIGINAL show that I enjoyed in its day. I don't want to overwhlem the boards with an overly long opening post on this topic, so I will withhold for another day my memories of watching ALF and other NBC shows on Monday. -------------------- Enjoying Kevin McKidd's & Zach Braff's photo at the top of the NBC Primetime Vault, or why I watch NBC 90 minutes less per week......

I couldn't agree more to the fact that this show does sound like a little bit like Quantum Leap to me. I used to like that show a lot and I even remember the characters in it. I think that the characters in this show, JourneyMan, is about a guy who can travel through time with himself without a machine or somethig to aid him in foing such a thing. I wonder if there's ever going to be a girl or another person who has his ability and may even be related to him or something.
That idea is that I wonder what this show is going to encounter in the Fall season, anyhow, I think that the season of Fall might for most NBC shows will proably be pretty good and interesting. -------------------- I hate... so much about the things you choose to be.

What a pitty. I saw the commercials for this show, and thought.. hey, that show looks interesting, plus I watched Rome, and I like that actor, I might give this show a try.. Then I remembered about how NBC CANCELS EVERTYING (i.e. The Black Donnelly's) NBC Sucks.. I won't give any new shows on NBC a chance. As soon as Heroes is done, I'm done. I'll ask Comcast to remove NBC from my channel lineup, cause I don't even want to bother skipping over it. would rather it not be on there at all.

The Black Donnelly's was alright, but it wasn't great. It was going nowhere at all. This looks alot better, plus it has Kevin McKidd! If you think NBC is bad, look to HBO. They ripped out my heart when they cancelled Rome ... only the best series of all time! |

Yeah this show is basically Quantum Leap except with out Al or Ziggy. And I think that will be it's downfall. Sorry if I offended anyone just expressing my opinion.

^^^Hey, don't forget without Sam Beckett!
With the new fall schedule for 2007-2008, Journeyman (aka, Quantum Leap 2007) will be forever part of NBC Mondays. Ok, first of all, with all due respect, don't even compare any show to the genius that was Quantum Leap. And I do not see the Bellisario name associated with it. In it's defense, both the writer and the director for the Pilot were previously associated with West Wing and Sports Night. But you just can't compete with Quantum Leap. NBC is not the only network that cancels quality stuff. They all do, they all suck. NBC has a few redeeming qualities, like The Office. And you can't just remove NBC from your Comcast lineup, unless you own it. Trust me, I've complained and complained about how I want to be able to pick and choose my channels, and only pay for the ones I use. I really dislike Comcast. -------------------- ![]() Thanks for the inspiration, Lerrin! |

Are you excited about Journeyman being on NBC's Fall 2007 lineup? What do you think so far? Take a look at the interviews and other videos, and post your thoughts.
At the top of the screen, click on 'SHOWS', then 'JOURNEYMAN', then 'VIDEOS' -------------------- ![]() Thanks for the inspiration, Lerrin! |

I have read elsewhere that NBC has already changed Monday's this fall. I guess the new head honcho wanted to have some say in the lineup.
So Journeyman is now joined on Monday's with Chuck at 8 PM. The oringal line-up was a slam dunk for me to watch, with returning favorites DOND & Heroes leading into Journeyman. I think I will still watch Journeyman in order to figure out whether or not it really is ripping off QL. Not so sure about Chuck. Monday DOND was appointment viewing last season. As much as DOND was shifted to fill various holes in NBC's 06-07 lineup (Wednesday & Thursday at 9, Sunday & Friday at 8) the Monday show was always on, and always new. While I will follow DOND to whatever night(s) it ends up on, I am not sure that I will stick with NBC Mondays at 8PM. -------------------- Enjoying Kevin McKidd's & Zach Braff's photo at the top of the NBC Primetime Vault, or why I watch NBC 90 minutes less per week......

What do I think? I think you ought to leak the **** thing!!
It's the one thing I want to see on TV and practically everything else has been leaked onto the net to generate buzz -- except this! Witness my lust for it: Hey, NBC! Leak Journeyman, Dammit! Laugh at your peril. This post has been edited by mikecane: Aug 7 2007, 04:34 PM |

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought "Quantum Leap" when I saw the previews for this show (sorry VB). But I do agree with VB, all in all you can't really compare the two (especially without Sam
I'd also give NBC a chance with this before writing it off and claiming that it will be canceled. It hasn't even aired yet. And they did give one other show a big chance, and it is continuing to pay off very well for them. |

Looks like it could be an interesting show. Hope they do it well because timetraveling can be very confusing.

I loved the actor, Kevin McKidd in HBO's Rome so I am very eager to watch him in Journeyman.

Just watched this on Comcast On Demand and found it simply smashing. Was worried as the show went on but the end pieced it all together and gave me shivers. This show has promise.

Quantum Leap
Back To the Future Premonition Sliders However much of the sci fi'nss will be short handed, and more family values, romatic roles will play a vital role of the struggle of Van Dasser I believe. Anyone know of any oher time traveling shows worth mentioning to possibly compare this new sitcome to? Thank You Trey Box Sitcom Reviews Corp |

I don't really think you can compare the shows. That's like saying, "Oh, it's a sitcom about a family, so it must be like Everybody Loves Raymond." I say we just wait and let the show take on a personality of its own before we try to make any comparisons or analysis.

Depending on how you look at the show, you can ask yourself a couple of questions.
The whole mixture of "Quantum Leap" " Lightning" " Back to the Future" " Sliders" Is that inevitable feeling that you've seen it beore. Hopefully the romance take on the series will save it from the doom of pure science fiction, yet while maintaining originality. Even the new sitcom " Heroes" bases much of its how on Hiro's ability to bend the time space continuum. What do you, the viewers think about the blender of effect of television shows, and will this show prove to be original, or just another sitcom ready to absorb like a Japanese Gun Ho sponge off of others ideas. Time will tell, unless Hiro bends time and erases this message. Thank You, Trey Box Sitcom Reviews Corp |

^^As someone pointed out earlier in another thread. Heroes is NOT a sit-com.
Also, anyone responding in this thread, please be aware that any specifics about the pilot will be considered spoilers until after the episode airs on broadcast tv. Let's keep those to the pinned episode thread above. |
