As long as there is a writers strike, why not solicit a few jokes from the Internet community? To keep from getting overwhelmed with entries, regular people also could vote for the best.

Conan can't write for his show during the strike, and no one should write for his show during the strike, because it's strike breaking/scab writing. "The Strike Rules, among other provisions, prohibit Guild members from performing any writing services during a strike for any and all struck companies. This prohibition includes all writing by any Guild member that would be performed on-air by that member (including monologues, characters, and featured appearances) if any portion of that written material is customarily written by striking writers" (source). The more solidarity there is with writers, the quicker the strike can be over.

I dunno. I kinda agree. Writers are great, but I've seen my share of bombs on Late Night. Why not give the amateurs a chance? Maybe the next big talent is out there, waiting to be discovered. I work with a union shop, and after the last strike, some scabs were the best workers (yes, better than some of the strikers) and got hired on.

Not that I don't side with the writers. Heck, I've been growing a strike beard for 35 years. Not that I could show it on TV. Unless we were talking pay per view. But come on, the internet is the reason for a lot of things these days, how about getting a tiny bit of material for the shows? Not like Conan isn't going to be doing his own writing...

That sucks! I wrote a pretty good skit and posted it on the IMDB boards.
