The book was phenominal.
It adds a great fictional theme to historic events that actually occurred. It also portrays the struggles of the upright, moral, and robust knighthood of those select few that dedicated their lives to the secrecy of the utmost security for the sake of the world. Many in the world do not know of The Order of the Temple Knights and their sad fate caused at the hands of Philip "the fair" (king of France) and The Pope on that long ago "Friday the 13th". This should have been a movie instead of a short mini-series. I do hope those who watch it learn a lot from it, and learn the history behind it, as most will discover that not all of the Templar Knights were exterminated. Their legacy continues to this day. To the author, Mr. Raymond Khoury, you have written an awesome book. A_Werbenec |

Same conspiracy theory plot like the Da Vinci Code and even though claiming as fiction, it is starting another controversy that Jesus is a man. There is no proof that Pope Leo X said that " It has served us well this myth of Christ". A good selling strategy for the book! The Templar cross on the uniform is wrong!!!
As always, the misinformation campaign against the Knights Templar beginning in 1304 continues. |

This was a great book by a good author. I'm in the middle of reading his second book, The Sanctuary. Too bad people like the previous poster have to chime in with their two cents.
Can't wait to see the show!!!

Can somebody tell NBC how to pronounce the name of their own movie. Its not Templer. Its Templar like the word car. You would think some genius over there might care enough to make sure they are pronounce the word properly. If they cant do that how good can this movie possibly be.

This was a wonderful book on the heels of the Da Vinci Code and all of the other Cat/Mouse books and films about the Templar Knights and the impact of historical religious fact versus fiction. The book was a wonderful treat of escapism to what could be possible. Based on the trailers and the footage that I have seen and read, I'm thrilled that a full budget production is being granted to a TV Movie. It appears that this will be blockbuster quality, made for the Big Screen, but shared in your livingroom. Should be phenomenal. (Now, I hope it lives up to all of the hype, their's and mine!) LOL

Whoever wrote the synopsis on the web site needs to know that the word "hone" was used incorrectly, as in the following: "...Tess watches in silent terror as the leader of the horsemen hones in on one particular piece..."
The correct term is HOME. Definition of hone: 1. to sharpen an object: The bone had been honed to a point. 2. to make something perfect or completely suitable for its purpose: His physique was honed to perfection. Her debating skills were honed in the students' union. Definition of home: 1. to aim for: The missile homed in on the ship. 2. to find and give a lot of attention to something or someone: The report homed in on the weaknesses in the management structure. I hate to seem pedantic, but I see this mistake happening regularly nowadays on TV news programs and occasionally even in print, and it irritates me. If one is sloppy in their use of the English language, to what else are they not paying attention? Evidently proofreading has become a forgotten skill. As for the mini series, I'll probably pass. I've never been happy with any of the Halmis' other projects, why should this one be any better? |

I didn't even finish the book it was so bad. The Last Templar is just another anti-Catholic smear. When I got to the point where the author was stating that Jesus was just another good guy, not really divine, I walked across the pool deck and dropped the book in the trash (which is what this book represents).
Want to read an awesome book which would make a phenomenal movie? Try "The Religion" by Tim Willocks which explores the Siege of Malta in 1565. It's well researched and well-written and doesn't hane an underlying anti-Christianity bent like Khoury, or Dan Brown or a few other Templar-serial authors. |

Apparently, what we have here is another typical anti-Jesus / anti-Christian fictional attack piece by the anti-Christian main-stream liberal media.
They can write and film these fictional hit-pieces all they want, it makes no difference. The truth of Jesus Christ comes from one source, the HOLY BIBLE. The anti-Christian crowd has been trying to tear down the Bible for millennia. They have failed. Why? The Bible is God's book, and He will protect it. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." [John 1:14 - KJV] "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." [John 3:16-18 - KJV] P.S. I double-dog dare NBC to make a movie slamming Islam in the same way. They wouldn't dare would they? NBC is a joke, as are all the rest of the little anti-christs out there. |

Before you start saying the bible is god’s word and preaching the truth of Jesus, let’s take a trip back to 325 AD. If my memory serves me right, the Council of Nicea was convened under the roman Emperor Constantine. This counsel served one purpose, to decide what books would be placed into the bible and establish the divinity of Christ.
The purpose of the council was to resolve disagreements arising from within the Church of Alexandria over the nature of Jesus in relationship to the Father; in particular, whether Jesus was of the same substance as God the Father or merely of similar substance. So with this, how about the truth now?? Another result of the council was an agreement on when to celebrate the Resurrection, the most important feast of the ecclesiastical calendar. The council decided in favor of celebrating the resurrection on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox, independently of the Hebrew Calendar. The Council of Nicaea was historically significant because it was the first effort to attain consensus in the church through an assembly representing all of Christendom. Throughout the years, the divinity of Christ has been questioned, and while I agree, some have made money off of this, there has to be a reason. Why has the history of the Templar Knights been all but wiped out? Why did the Christian Church go to great lengths to cover-up its wrong doing’s? I am by no means a religious person, but I am very intrigued by these questions. I do want to know the truth. Bottom line, this is a great book and will be a great movie. Watch this with an open mind and think of how things would be if we knew the truth. |

As a member of the Masonic Community and the Knights Templar, your argument of the Council of Nicea is wrong. It is Dan's Brown statement and those people with secret agenda. You have to do more research to find out that it is not true. The history of the Knights Templar not been wiped out. There is no cover up of Christian church. It is just the imagination of Dan Brown, Khoury and other writers turning fantasy into facts. And that is the danger. I am glad that my late grandfather who was a Mason and Knights Templar told me the truth when I was 8 years old. There is no such thing as holy blood, or marriage of Mary Magdalene and Jesus. These anti-jesus, conspiracy theorists are wrong!!! Yes, it is for entertainment, but the danger is that most people take it as facts!!! This is the reason the world is so chaotic. If you want to know the TRUTH, you have to research on your own. Try to find ancient documents. Nope, it is not in Rosslyn. Rossyln is a hoax. We will expect more crap stories in months to come. Tonight, I will not watch this mini-series. It is a waste of time. |

Ok, So I am certain that I will not be the only fan of the book that reads and replies on this message board. The time is 9:21 pm EST. The movie has been running on NBC for 20 minutes now, and I am absolutely disgusted with NBC. This movie is not just slightly different from the book, but altering the storyline VASTLY. Why is it that TV networks take stories that are perfectly written for a movie to be made, and have to mess with it? That's what makes the difference between a TV movie and a theatre movie. I don't understand why the network staff don't understand this. I loved this book, and I am so disgusted with this 'adaptation' which you can barely even call it that because it's almost a different storyline altogether, that I have seriously considered turning it off. The only reason I am keeping it on is to see if NBC comes back closer to the storyline later in the movie. If not, I'm done.
As a final sign-off, I would like to add that I am actually astonished that Raymond Khoury would sign-off on such a final product. Raymond masterfully wrote this story, and to be reworked in this fashion is not only a sham, but a blatant disrespect to his work. Shame on you NBC. |

My mother thought that this would be like Indiana Jones. The only thing the two have in common is archeology. There's something missing in this miniseries that Indy has, but I can't put my finger on what.
But then again, she likes Crusoe as well, and I was already turned off by the previews of that series. Now if only they'd bring back My Worst Enemy..... |

I can't believe that this show has completely destroyed the book's storyline. I have a list of multiple things that deviate from the book...and the show isn't even a quarter way through!!
And this is only in the first 45 minutes! It's sickening. |

I watched this for about 20 mins and have turned it off. Is it a comedy? The idea that she would go riding after them and "joust" one of them is about as dumb as it gets.
Jousting with a crozier + No high-backed saddle + No lance rest + basic physics = SHE's the one that gets knocked off. Actually more likely that it just gets knocked out of her hands as she gets a sword blade through the clavicle. I guess she has to establish her "kick-butt" credentials to compete with Lara Croft and Sydney Bristow, but it just came out foolish. Some geeks get turned on by this stuff I guess. |
