Full Version: What's with the repeats???????????????
NBC > NBC Extras > NBC Vault > Late Night Vault > Late Night with Conan O'Brien
shmenkie
Had enough vacation already Conan? All the rest of us are back at work. You know how disappointed we get with repeats.
ABigRedHat
he's got a 3-day weekend. its always a repeat on mondays.
ABigRedHat
oh sorry, i see wut u mean. well, he did work last week when we were all off.
lenny058
Yes, it can be annoying when there is a week of repeats. But, remember that Conan did work over the new year holiday. What is really getting old to me is the repeats on Monday nights. Will this ever stop?
Chako
Actually he had new shows while all the others were repeats (Even if they were taped a few days early) smile.gif And last week all the other hosts were gone, and he was there. So even though I don't really like repeats, I think he deserves the time off &:^)
ABigRedHat
im also kind of enjoying it...these were all really good shows....and now i know to tape them.
Chako
Oh yeah, it could also have something to do with the fact that he was in Las Vegas with Bill Gates on the 5th smile.gif

I don't mind Conan taking some time off. I don't mind repeats, even when they occur every Monday. But why is it impossible to find out on this website when the new shows will begin airing? I think they are hoping that more people will watch Conan if they don't realize they are watching a repeat until they are already tuned in.

Instead of making things crystal clear for people who want to know whether or not tonight's show will be a repeat, the website's main page reads: "Tonight Conan welcomes Matt Damon, Kevin Pollack, and Randy Newman -- 01/06/05." I beg your pardon, but that didn't happen "tonight", it happened more than a year ago! After looking up episode number 1832 in the badly designed, slowly scrolling episode list, it is possible to ascertain that this occurred on 12/13/03.

I hope someone reads this message board besides clueless, hero-worshipping idiots who count how many times Conan says: "Right, right". Because this website, rather than providing concise and useful information for intelligent fans, uses misleading wording that apparently attempts to gain the viewership of morons who can't count episode numbers. So please, if you have some authority concerning this website, fix it! Provide us with some idea of when the repeats will stop and the new shows will begin. (Right now my guess is next Tuesday.)

excuse me, you have one post, and obviously have not read around very carefully. judgemental much? if you notice, often the most frivolous or repititious posts are made by newcomers. using such a condescending tone to negatively generalize everyone here will certainly not induce anyone of helpful knowledge to impart such for your benefit. have i answered your question? i hope not, im counting the "right, rights"...
eqblues
I completely agree. There has to be some way for the NBC people to let us know this simple facts. Its not too hard to have a future episode listing is it?
Im not saying I agree with the "everyone here is a moron" comment, but I would really like to see this change.
CONAN ROCKS!
ABigRedHat
were i to be in a polite and helpful mood, i might point out that usually the new or current episodes say in caps ALL NEW on the main site. i might also point you towards a very helpful site, http://www.interbridge.com/lineups.html#LN
as i discovered through the much appreciated good-old fashioned "nee-ha" newsletter.

but jeez, im also relatively new to the board and i would be ashamed to show such blatant disrespect for total strangers. oh and yesterday i counted 12 right rights.

no just kidding that wusnt me that started that. just watch what those fingers type next time before you hit continue.
ABigRedHat
hey lets all make one rude post and leave.
beetle
You're calling me rude? You're the one singling me out for your flames! All I did was make some jokes that you would expect the fan of a comic who specializes in self-deprecating humor to appreciate. I never said everyone who posts here is a moron. I am, however, aware that by posting here I am wasting my time and that makes me somewhat of a moron. Are you aware of this fact? Your attempt to insult me for being a newbie here suggests otherwise. And the fact that you took my jokes so personally is more than a little telling.

My main gist was that I hope someone who actually has some control over the website will read my criticism, rather than just a bunch of obsessed fans. I was really hoping that someone with actual power would take it seriously so that Conan's website doesn't contain intentionally misleading language that describes the events of a rerun as if they are going to happen "tonight". Needless to say, my dreams have been crushed.

Just a few minutes after making my initial post, I did find out that the NBC Schedule does indeed confirm that the new shows start tonight (1/11/05). I almost felt bad enough to come back here and apologize. But then I noticed this:

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (ALL NIGHT) 57 - ERIC IDLE/ALAN PRINCE/NEIL INNES oad 4/23/77 Repeat #64 All New

A classic episode from 1977 being described as "All New" isn't misleading to morons: it's just plain moronic.

I would like to thank eqblues for acknowledging my main point, instead of getting all defensive about the fact I made a few jokes at the expense of people who write on these message boards. ABigRedHat, please don't bother to flame me again. It is highly unlikely I will ever return here after the overwhelming response I got to my first post.
beetle
I realized that my posts here are very long, and this is probably responsible for the misconception that I was trying to insult Conan fans. I did make one joke about the guy who wants to count how many times Conan says "Right, right", but I think that's entirely in order. In any case, even if you don't read anything else I say in this post, please read the following statement as I am attempting to be very clear and concise:

If you look at my first post more carefully, I didn't say that anyone who visits this website actually IS a moron. I said that the website's choice of wording TREATS us like morons. Thank you for your time.
ABigRedHat
alright, i did get a little immature, i apologize. but calling us all clueless hero-worshippers isnt really funny even in a self-deprecating sense, especially if it comes from someone very new to the board. anyway, my links do work, provide the lineup for several weeks in advance. mmk im done here.
beetle
No need for an apology. It's sick how much I actully enjoyed participating in this little conversation. Speaking of which, 98 posts since 12/29... shouldn't you cut down a little?
