I was watching a rerun of an episode where the guest and Conan talked about how freezing it is in Toronto in the winter... Well in Toronto it gets about -15 C at night... Try coming to Finland. Here it's twice that and during the day... The coldest days the temperature gets as low as -35 C...

I can't believe you Finnish people have never heard of Toronto. It is the largest city in Canada and one of the larger cities in the Western Hemisphere. I'm from Michigan (America, but not far from Toronto), and I think it is cold in Toronto. I've even been to Toronto several times. It is cold anywhere the temperature gets near 0 degrees Fahrenheit. That's another thing. Conan was talking about Fahrenheit, you Finns are talking about Celsius. If you can't compare the two scales, you better look it up. Also, you can't compare exact lattitudes in America and Europe and expect the climates to be exactly the same. Yes, they are about the same, but the same lattitude in North America is generally colder than in Europe. It is probably colder in most of Finland than it is in Toronto, but neither place is cold compared to Antartica.

Michigan huh? try Houghton/Hancock area of the upper peninsula. You wanna talk about cold? Sure, thunder bay Ontario is colder, but that's what breeds awesome hockey players. (and is just north over that lake eh.)
Toronto was a very nice place to visit. Very clean subways and streets. I enjoyed my visit 15 years ago.
Toronto is no colder than Detroit. (on any given day) Same lake effect snow.

It really is a different weather on different parts of the country. Like now almost tropical -8 in Turku and -30 or more in the east and north.

I think the Toronto degrees were Fahrenheit degrees. -15 degrees would be -26 degrees of Celsius.
About the same as here now. Welcome to Finland, Conan.

Of course we know and we have heard about Toronto. I think everyone are civilized enough to understand, where or what is Toronto. If aren't.. well.. then I prefer some world tour.
But the fact is, Toronto really isn't as cold as Finland. And what comes to your comment about our intelligence, I think most of Finnish people here are teenagers. Understand them, though.

I thought it was in USA instead of Canada before the Conan show told it is in Canada.
But hey, I did know where Canada is ! And I knew they are polite, well-mannered people (though the Conan show revealed different traits.)
Also I knew the Canadians are quite talkative compared to the Finns yet considered quiet by the americans !
(Finns in kindergarten are as talkative as others but then comes school and in school
http://keskustelu.suomi24.fi/show.fcgi?cat...000000013795258the more talkative ones learn to be quiet or are thrown to special schools and drugged to be quiet.)
I also knew they like ice-hockey and that other game on ice the name of which I do not remember now.
Finland is in reality too cold for even the Finns: about 20 to 25 percent (more than a million people) cannot really go out (some do and die) during cold weather (half the year) because of asthma/allergies/respiratory problems etc. but to complain that it is too cold is not all right in Finland - hey, I even know the Canadians have solved that problem with huge shopping malls but Finns have been too slow to follow the example.

Helsinki - 10th most expensive city in the world. (In other european towns the people have much better earnings.) Shows how corrupt Finland is. Helsinki should have less than average prices as the earnings in Finland are under the european average and even the taxes are higher than average.

Are you guys kidding? I have a dual citizenship and I usually go back and forth from thunder bay and Rochester. New York is almost every bit as cold as ontario. There are just crazy stereo types about canada. Really its almost the same country. Toronto has the nicest cleanest subway you will see. It doesnt get really cold until you go towards Quebec and montreal. Now Thunder Bay gets cold Edmonton gets cold, Calgary gets cold sometimes. Those of you who have no idea what thunder bay is its in western ontario. Rochester can be just as cold as thunder bay at times. crazy americans and the stereotypes.

The Miss Finland contest is totally corrupt in itself. You only need to watch it once to see how the one who cannot talk and looks inferior wins every time. Use google to find out the looks of this years' contestants, see which won.
Who pays most wins. Same with song-contests, lots of sports (americans do that too, but for nationalistic reasons: snowboarding is a sport where the american judges always vote for their own, so if the contest is in america, always the americans "win") etc.

Similar snow storms new york just had can happen in may in finland. (Not common though) - there is snow from end of october to end of april in most of the country (as in ground covered by it)
