does anybody know the name of the musical guest on one of these past shows, he was an older guy playing an acoustic song. the whole song was about his granny i think. this isnt the kind of music i usually listen to, it's very far from it, but I really liked this song. so does anyone know his name?

I think you mean Loudon Wainwright III. The song's called "Nanny".
