Full Version: Bad Decision: Jake Gyllenhaal
NBC > NBC Extras > NBC Vault > Late Night Vault > Late Night with Conan O'Brien

I cannot believe what you did on your show last night. You announce he has two movies coming out: Jarhead and Brokeback Mountain. You interview him and show a clip from the war-oriented Jarhead. Then you end the interview by announcing the opening dates of both movies...never once discussing the love-oriented Brokeback Mountain.

Is this a Conan decision?
Is this an NBC decision?
Is this the actor hiding from playing a gay role?
Is this political pressure?

Whatever it is...it is disgusting and you played a role in it.
As a result I will not be watching Conan.
And I am likely not going to see this highly anticipated Brokeback Mountain.

Does anyone in Hollywood have [censored]? Does anyone have pride in what they do despite political pressures?

The reason they do that "thisisit" is because they never show clips from two movies. They only show the clip from the one with bigger buzz that is coming out first. Regardless of the gay themes. My God do you know how many gay actors have been on the show? And promoted projects? It has nothing to do with censorship or politics. don't get so worked up, jeez

Did you ever entertain the idea that he may have just run out of time?

Okay... Don't you think you're overreacting a bit? Firstly, famewise, Jarhead is a great deal more well known than Brokeback Mountain, and I think more people are interested in them talking about that. Secondly, how long are these interviews? Ten minutes max, maybe? If you start on one subject and start talking about that, with Conan's random antics and comments in between, there really isn't always enough time to get to everything. Heck, sometimes they don't talk about the actor's show/movie at all (*Cough*JamesSpader*cough*) And with the clips- they rarely ever show more than one. No one does. When Jennifer Garner goes on the Tonight Show when one of her movies is coming out, they might mention her show Alias, but they're going to talk about her movie, and they won't show any clips of Alias. OMG!!11!one!! THEY'RE CENSORING CIA STORIES!!
Seriously. It's not a conspiracy. But if you don't want to watch Conan, it's up to you. I'm sure the loss of 1/2,500,000 of his viewers will wound him deeply.
