Well, Conan, I hope you're happy now -- my wife, who just HAPPENS to be from Finland, is now too embarassed to go to work tomorrow, knowing the abuse she's going to face. Man...
Seriously, though, great show!! I have to say, boondoggle or not, you did well. We're both 'homesick' for Helsinki now (I lived there for 11 years before winding up back here). She's been crying non-stop since the show started (well, to be honest, I'm not sure if it's from homesickness or maybe she just can't stop laughing; she's also making these strange gurgling sounds that could be choking or giggling...or swearing in Finnish. I'll let you know when I know).
But I think you need to make another trip in the summer (sun sets around 1:00 a.m. and rises at about 1:23 a.m). There's so much more to see! There's actually some GREEN there (in fact, you won't believe how green it can be there!), the water even melts (but sadly, some people still try to walk their dogs on the harbor in the evenings, often with very sad results), and the people's mood is so different! (you can even find some of them late at night laying around the city under benches, bushes, etc.).
I'd also mention the zillions of beautiful blondes in mini-skirts that wander around the city during the warm weather, but since you're married and I'm married, I think it would be best if we don't get into that here (and yes, I know that Finland's population is only around 5 million, but believe me, in the summer the pretty girls come out in droves in Helisnki -- sort of like the mosquitoes in Lapland.)
Anyway, well done...Hope to see your next installment.
Hyva Suomi!! Hyva Conan!!
