I was going through my old VCR tapes the other day and found two old movies that he had made. One was the original "Hallmark Hall of Fame" production of "The Missles of October" he plays a very young Bobby Kennedy, and is wonderful. The second was "Beyond the Stars". He is older, and it is a story of a man embittered by life's circumstances...also excellent.

Martin Sheen is a magnificent actor and a marvelous human being. After 7 hard years on "The West Wing," he will be attending the National University of Ireland at Galway studying literature and philosophy. This has been widely reported in the press the last few days.
My hope is that he isn't going to retire completely from acting, but that he will be selective of the projects in which he decides to appear.
If you want to seen some excellent acting by the amazing Mr. Sheen, I would suggest his 1988 movie, "Da," as well as "The American President. If you want a big laugh, check out "The Maid," a frilly piece of farce that shows that Martin should have done a lot more comedy.
But we also have three new movies that will be released sometime this year: "Bordertown," "The Departed," and "Bobby," which was directed by his son, Emilio Estevez and has an all star cast and opens Nov. 22nd.

I agree with 100 per cent on what you have said about Martin. He is a great actor who has brought us all so much joy.
He was so good in The American President.
And if I am not mistaken, he also played President John Kennedy which he did a superb job. I think I saw that movie on Lifetime a few years ago.

That movie I was referring to was called "Kennedy" and it was a mini series and also starred Blair Brown as Jackie Kennedy.

I love him as the President on the West Wing. I have to admit that I thought he was equally funny in The American President. Hmm-that seemed like a movie version of the West Wing before the West Wing. That is because if anyone saw this movie with Martin Sheen in there were some other reconizable faces from The West Wing world.

Martin has a great quote when he is asked to run for political office: Don't mistake celebrity for credibility.
Martin is one of the sweetest people ever, but he really doesn't have any interest in running for political office. And I think he does a pretty good job trying to make things better in the world.
And about "The American President": It was written by Aaron Sorkin, and a friend suggested that it would make a good TV series.
If you ever have a chance to say hello to Martin, do. He is very nice to his fans.

Does anyone remember a made for TV movie that Martin Sheen starred in with Linda Blair. He kidnaps her and steals her to a forest wilderness cabin and teaches her how to stop thinking the way everyone expects her to. Does anyone remember the movie and do you know the title? Thanks!

And don't forget he played John Dean from the Watergate Investigation in another made for TV movie. A great job there, too.

The movie where Martin kidnaps Linda Blair is "Sweet Hostage." I bought a copy off of eBay.
But "Blind Ambition," where Martin plays John Dean, is one of the hardest videos to find in the US, because it was never released here. I managed to get a UK DVD finally, but I had a very hard time getting it to play.
Martin told me a story that he took John Dean to see his very first James Dean movie - I think it was "Giant." Martin said the problem with the Nixon Administration is that they didn't see enough James Dean movies.
