what was he doing when he was trying to compensate for the lack of surprise in the end of the health care episode? I was laughing my [censored] off because he did this kind of stupid clap and dumb face but it was just too weird.

He wasn't clapping, he was doing an 'air drumroll' to stall while obviously trying to think REAL hard about how to get out of the situation... Then he draws a blank and everyone starts leaving...
As much as the show makes him out to be an improv idiot, Steve Carell is actually a veteran improv comedian (Second City), plus he's a natural.

I think we take for granted how hard improv really is. I think all the characters do a very good job at it. I was certain that he was going to surprise them in the end and if I recall correctly I think he did by buying them ice cream sandwhiches but when Stanley commented on it Michael knew he couldn't get away with it. Nice try Michael. Maybe next time!

If you watch the deleted scenes on the season 1 DVD for that episode, after everyone has left he blurts out "we're going bowling". Too bad he thought of it after they left. You know, that could be a funny episode if they had a bowling outing!
VietNamSounds_1
Apr 17 2006, 09:09 AM
Well, they talked about a bowling outing... In the Booze Cruise episode, Oscar talks about the theme of last years outing which was "Bowl over the competition". Guess where they went?

I know he was drumrolling but what about right after that, what the hell was he doing right after the drumroll. He kind of clapped his hands and sayd allrriiigghhtttyyyaachht!! then pointed to someone.

Ah, I see what you are talking about... But I don't think it can be explained... he's just stalling for time...

During "Health Care" Michael talks to a guy at the Lackawanna Mine about taking the 'troops' on the 'big ride' (Industrial Coal Elevator). Is that Creed's voice????

It's almost sad how small this board must have been in the beginning. Only 6 posts on the episode?? It's crazy how much its grown!

Are you sure there is not bigger one somewhere else? If not it's pretty crazy LOL

I love this episode so much! One time I wrote my friend a note that had the whole convo of Jim, Pam, and Dwight in the conference room. It was so ridiculously.

I think it is Creed! Everytime I watch this episode I try to convince myself it's someone else, but it sounds so much like him. I wish they would have answered this on the DVD.

So many classic lines in this one, and so much character development and
Office lore from the early days.
*"Throw myself in front of a train" speech.
*Health care in the wild . . .
*office/workspace controversy
*Never been sick, perfect immune system . . .
*Spontaneous Dental Hydroplosion, Killernanorobot Infection, CountChoculitis, etc.
*First episode we really get a good look at what Jam's all about, (following Pam napping on Jim's shoulder in Diversity Day).
*I love the deleted scene when Jim asks if Jacka$$ is one word or two.

I also love the other glimpse we get of Jam: Jim stands in front of Pam when Dwight gets angry about the fake diseases. Like he's protecting her.

Awwww.

Jim: If I advance any higher in this company, then this would be my career. And uh … well, if this were my career, I’d have to throw myself in front of a train.
Michael: I gotta go, I’m getting a call.
Pam: No you’re not.
Michael: Oh, god, here we go again, gotta go, I have to take this…
Pam: Still no one calling.
Dwight: Through concentration, I can raise and lower my cholesterol at will.
Pam: Why would you want to raise your cholesterol?
Dwight: So I can lower it.

What is written on the pink post-it on Michael's desk when he is asking Jim to pick the healthcare plan because he's "so busy?" I keep rewinding it but my t.v. is not very good and I can't read it.

Just watched this today...so cute! My favorite:
Dwight: Count Choculitis. Why, Jim? Is it because you know I love that cereal?

One of my favorite episodes:
Jim: Well if you've never been sick, then you don't have any antibodies.
Dwight: I don't need them. Superior genes. I'm a Schrute. And superior brain power.
