Did anyone else notice on the Episode Summary page for the episode about the alliance that it says that Dwight asks John to form an alliance? John would be the actor's real name and it should be Jim instead!

Yep, I noticed that too. I know others have noticed as well because I have seen mention of it on another message board as well.

I didn't even notice. But I wish they would have hidden some eggs or something. Has anyone found any?
VietNamSounds_1
Apr 30 2006, 01:30 PM
Well, I don't have an egg, but in S02E04 - The Fire, Dwight says that Michael didn't go to business school or college and Michael does not refute it. Then in S02E09 - E-mail Surveillance, Michael mentions how much he loved Cup o' Noodles in College....

Just thought of another. In the pilot episode, Dwight tells Ryan how he bought and fixed up a 280z and it's now worth 3k. But we see in multiple episodes that he does not drive a 280z but a Trans Am....
ocrilat
May 2 2006, 11:24 AM
He probably sold it(the 280Z)...thats how he knew it was now worth $3000, and how he could have afforded the Trans Am. Just a thought.
VietNamSounds_1
May 2 2006, 01:28 PM
Sure, there is nothing wrong with the reasoning other than the fact that there is nothing in the show to support it.
Occam's razor says it's most likely an error/oversight.

You are, of course, probably correct. However, I play this game with my wife about Doctor Who...I try to find plausible excuses, er, I mean explanations, for screw-ups on the show. Its fun.

As far as I know Toby only has one daughter and the picture on his desk shows a little girl with black hair. When he brought her into work in 'Take your daughter to work Day' she had the exact same haircut, but she was blonde.
Are there any other bloopers or mistakes people have noticed?
VietNamSounds_1
May 7 2006, 06:31 PM
Well there's another post about this (sort of)... here's 2 I've noticed:
1. In 'The Fire' Dwight says to Ryan that Michael did not go to business school or college and Micheal does not deny it. But later in 'E-mail Surveillance' Michael remarks about how much cup o' noodles he ate in college and talks about the parties.
2. In the pilot episode (re-worked BBC script) Dwight tells Ryan that he has a 280z that he fixed up and is not work 3 grand. In later episodes (The Injury, The Secret) we see Dwight driving a Trans Am.

well michael could be lying as he usually does to garner much needed friendship. Did dwight have two cars? Ive actually never seen the 250z on the show....
VietNamSounds_1
May 8 2006, 07:53 AM
Sure, he COULD be lying, but there is no reason to believe that. More likely it's a mistake/oversight.
No, you wouldn't see a 250z, there is no such car. You don't see a 280z either, hence the mistake. He talks about a 280z to Ryan and how he's fixed it up, but in 2 other episodes we see him driving a Trans Am...

Mine isn't a big one - more of a continuity issue.
I think it is in Email Surveillance when Dwight is leaving the Office as he walks past Michael he is putting on his jacket and camera pans with him and then cuts to a front view of him walking.
In the pan of him walking by his collar is up on his jacket and then in the front view it is down. It is to quick and continuous for him to have put it down during the cut.
It always drives me nuts when I see it!

On the Fire Drill episode, when the fire trucks arrive to the office complex, you can see a palm tree in the background! I'm pretty sure Pennsylvania doesn't have palm trees.

In "Michael's Birthday," Michael says to Pam, "next time you're in the shower you should check yourself... Those things are like ticking time BAGS." It may have been a joke, but it seems like a freudian slip on Steve's part. I dunno.

One thing I noticed was that in The Client episode Michael was saying how much he loved Scranton and loved growing up there and would never move. Then, when he went to the meeting in New York he said he would love to live in New York someday.

Ive spotted a boom mic on a few occasions, such as in the pilot when Roy first walks in towards the end of the epidode, the camera pans up and u have a short glimpse of the boom mic. I dunno if thats intentional or not cause they may use boom mics for doco's, im not sure.
Officionada
May 9 2006, 06:18 AM
I didn't notice the mic. Hmm...that's borderline. I can see how they might let that go on purpose. It kind of suggests that the film crew bungles just as much as the office mates they are recording.

In the Conflict Resolution episode, near the end, when they are taking the group photos, Michael says its hard to take a good picture of 15 people. but there are only 14.
Also, not much of a blooper, but in the episode where they put Dwigt's desk in the washroom, when Dwigt enters the washroom, you can see the camera man in the mirror in the washroom. this is the only time ive seen the camera man i think.

What about in Casino Night when Michael goes "all in" at the poker table and Toby surprisingly calls him? They each only have two cards and Michael walks away as if he lost, but in reality there would be 5 more cards dealt face up and Michael could actually have won.
I think all the stuff with the boom and occasional camera on screen is intentional, partially to remind us that this is supposed to be a documentary.
Veronica_Lodge
May 15 2006, 12:05 PM
there is a lot of reason to believe that, michael is always lying and exaggerating. i think it is very easy to believe that michael would make up some college experience he never experienced to sound cool!
and if dwight is fixing up a car, its not much of a stretch to believe that he is still fixing it up and its not drivable.

In the Christmas Episode, when Dwight puts the teapot up his nose and it makes a moving liquidty sound like it was full of tea, even thought the objects inside(pencil, picture, hot sauce, tape) would make clanging noises.
Idk if I imagined that, but I consider it a blooper.

Im a office nerd and watch an episode on itunes every night. I like this topic.
In hot girl, roy drives a ford ranger and in casino night roy is driving a dodge ram it looks like. he could have got a new car, but on his myspace thing it says he makes less than 30k per year.
I only noticed this because in the basketball episode, pam was talking about helping roys (someone) move because he has a pick up. So curiosity made me notice it when I saw that.

i think that is intentional
because it is like an documentary and they screw up like that on purpose
JimHalpertIsLife
May 15 2006, 08:13 PM
in the fire, when dwight runs in to find the cell phone, you see pam talking to kevin and oscar ( i think it was oscar) in the background, but then it moves over the phyllis, meredith, and PAM in a whole different spot.
also, there have been cut mistakes, like in the hot girl when katie is leaning over and michael offers her coffee, and then as soon as the camera focuses on katie, she is standing really tall. It drives me crazy

May 15 2006, 08:18 PM
Again, those are not 'reasons', they aren't based on anything other than conjecture. Sure, he might be lying, but again there is no reason to believe he is other than 'he lies a lot'...
Same deal with the car... It's not a stretch, there is just no reason to believe it other than it MIGHT not be drivable. Again, the simpler explanation is that these are oversights for lack of any other better evidence...

If you watch the first season dvd commentary (not sure which episode), John mentions that they have palm trees outside the building, and so the crew has to go out and dress the trees to look like oaks whenever they are shooting Michael near his office window. Followed by a funny exchange regarding if they ever go to film in Scranton, they will have to bring in palm trees to dress as oaks.

Very ticky-tacky but in atleast one episode Michael's car had a front licence plate on it, and they dont do that in PA. They did get that ironed out eventually as Roy's truck did not have a front one in the season finale.

exactly...if you listen, michael says he's going "all in" on the first hand. if you know the rules of texas holdem...you get 2 cards to start with...and then they flip the river cards...which you play from. so in essence, michael, being michael, went all in before the river was shown.

Michael's betting in Texas Hold'em was perfectly correct - not a blooper. You can bet any or all of your chips at any stage of the game. Players show their personal 2 cards if an "ALL IN" bet is called.
Each player gets 2 personal cards
> round of betting
deal 3 shared cards (the Flop)
> round of betting
deal 1 shared card (the Turn)
> round of betting
deal 1 final shared card (the River)
> final betting
The only problem with the scene was that Michael left furious before any of the shared cards were dealt. He still had a chance of winning.

I assumed that was the joke. Just like when he announced that he had gotten two girls when in fact he had messed up things royally with Jan and had had merely a pleasant "first date" with Carol...

You may be right.
Michael's lack of knowledge of the game may have been a subtle follow-on joke to his great fall from arrogantly going 'ALL IN' on a bad hand to losing to his arch-enemy Toby. But at the time, I figured that there just wasn't enough time to show the full hand played out.
In a real 'casino night' game, the dealer would have set him straight. But there is no humor in that.

True, but I took it that Michael is so absurdly clueless that the dealer does just what his employees do...let it slide (to your point, not realistic, but funny). After all, if the other characters set Michael straight on all his little slip ups, there wouldn't be time for anything else on the show... "Let's Get it Started - The Black Eyed Crows"!

In "Health Care", Dwight is talking about how he has "superior genes" because he is a Shrute and he doesn't get sick. Then in the Christmas episode, he was planning to use the tea pot to cure his sinus infections.

not to mention in performance review, when he said he came to work even though he had walking pneumonia. maybe by 'sick' he means too sick to come into work - in that case, he never gets 'sick.'

I dont think it was an oversight...in that certain episode Micheal isnt invited to Jim's BBQ and he then goes to eat lunch with them. He talks about how the 'professors' came to the party all the time...trying to drop a hint that Micheal his boss/professor should be invited. Therefor I think that is why Micheal would lie...

Yes, this is a good reason why Michael would lie about professors going to parties. However, this still does not mean he lied about going to college. Seems kind of an odd stretch to go from college to college parties to professors at college parties just to drop this hint. I will say it again, this is speculation and still not evidence that this isn't a mistake.

ok- this isnt really a mistake, because thye probably did it intentionally but-
in Drug testing, when Michael is asking Dwight for his urine, when the camera is flipping backand forth between them, you see a tiny glimpse of the photo taken of the office employees at the end of a future episode, Conflict Resolution
pretty cool!
