I like the way they decorated the house - but why would Jim and his friend be able to afford renting such a big house?

I know the thing you're talking about, but I couldn't indentify what it was either. Yeah you're right about the house, it did look nice, and I'm surprised, being that two guys live there. As for the money thing, I guess Jim is just one heck of a paper salesman, therefore he's bringing in some big bucks, it's possible. Wasn't there a guitar in his room too? I would love to see him play it and I wonder if he really can in real life.

Let me assure you that Scranton, PA is MUCH MUCH cheaper than Oakland! Also between the two of them it probably isn't much rent and depending on the market it could be the case that renting one house costs less than renting two one bedroom apartments.

I went from Boston/Cambridge, MA to upstate NY, not that far from Scranton, and I was FLOORED by just how big of a price difference there is in rents.

That's it. I'm moving to Scranton.

Hey, so that DIY post a week or so ago caught my eye so I thought I'd go buy an Office sign and stick it on my dorm room door. But, I haven't been able to find one. So far I've been to Lowe's (recommended by the DIY poster), Staples, Office Depot (sorry dunder mifflin), home depot and dixieline. Some of them had office signs but none like The Office logo.

Anywhere online I can look? or any other store suggestions? thanks.

You could maybe try like Wal-Mart or Target. Not sure if they would have it if those other places didn't, but it'd be worth the try.

The picture was made by the Office's own props department..so no one makes that picture.

We talked about this forever ago, not sure we ever got an answer though...

Does anybody know what the title of the painting is in the episode where jim has the bbq at his house? It's like a life equation, with a sunshine and hamburger and gun??? i would put up a picture but i dont know where to even begin to look.

If I remember correctly, the prop guys made that poster. I think I remember John the Prop Guy in one of his early blogs talking about putting it together. I'll see if I can find the link. Too bad we can't order it, I liked it too.

I've scene the poster he has above his bed at tons of places. It's a cheap vintage wine poster or something. I don't know about the other poster, though. And I regret to inform you that there will be no Office on this Thursday.

I was just watching "Email Surveillance" and Jim has an awesome bedroom. I'd love to get a quilt cover like that, but can't seem to find any with similar colours. Also, does anyone know where you can get that picture he has above the bed where all the symbols add up to equal Life?

I actually have the bed set that he has. I had it first, though, he is a copycat I got it from Bed, Bath and Beyond over a year ago, but I don't think they make it anymore. Not sure about the artwork, though.

The props department made that picture. There's a thread about it somewhere, may be in the archives by now. Don't be surprised if you're merged.

Yes, she did mention where she got it, I believe she borrowed it from a friend and then ended up buying her own. I'll see if I can find the link. It's a gold dove, and I believe it ran around 200-300$.

In season 2, the email surveillence episode, when pam is at jim's place and they are in his bedroom, above his desk there was a poster/picture. is there anyway anyone has a picture of that or knows where i could get it?

In the 2nd Season, episode "Email Surveillance ", when Jim is showing Pam around his bedroom and they start to sit down, there's a poster/banner hanging on the wall that says something along the lines of---- Sun divided by the quantity of ...... times the cubed root of Money=LIFE?------I was wondering if this is available to buy and what the full contents of the "saying" were.

actually, the glasses were $4 at a drugstore and the rest of the ensemble was around $7 and that's a total of... **calculates on watch** eleven dollars.

There was a time when the millitary issued glasses like Dwight's. Military specs used to be thick rimmed dark plastic frames, affectionately called BCG's. (Birth Control Glasses) Then they got hip and changed to the wire rimmed ones like Dwight's. This I know for a fact, having looked at my husband wearing them for 26 years, until he got laser eye surgery.

Has anyone bought one of these necklaces? I was thinking of buying one but wanted to see if anyone else had one and liked it.

i am currently putting together a dwight halloween costume ensemble. luckily (?) i used to years ago wear the same frames, and the preseription is still workable so i'm in pretty good shape.



also i went to party city to find a dwight-esque wig. the "mullet" wig which i am wearing is actually very close, as long as you have the ability to trim off the built-in sideburns and, of course. the back part.

the biggest challenge so far was the appropriate dwight short-sleeve shirt. i looked at goodwill, where if found a great tie and pair of brown wool slacks. but the shirt selection was very meager, especially short-sleeved dress shirts.

i next tried t.j. maxx, and still there was nothing in the mustard range for short-sleeved dress shirts.

finally i looked in marshalls, and found in the casual section a short-sleeve button-down shirt that is a bit more custard yellow than mustard yellow. however, my wife found the perfect brown and tan striped tie, so together it looks totally dwight.

the next thing for me to master is the dwight sideburns

Niiiice. You must post pics afterwards. And as for the sideburns, if you cannot duplicate them, use an eyebrow pencil.

Here is a picture of the poster for this thread. It's pretty good, close enough to agree with the comments above. If it is true the prop dept. made it, 1) props to them (pun intended) for generating this much discussion 2) well thought out and great attention to detail 3) it means there is no reason we can't make our own when we want to and that means 4) I can make a UK version with sterling as money not dollars.

My thoughts on the cube root of money, could be a reference to the idea that money is the root of all evil ? Are we sure the symbol next to the gun is wine or beer ?

There is no time allocated to work ? Maybe it's desires not thoughts ? Don't know how the gun fits in ? Could the gun be work since working in that office is enough to make you go postal ??

My other thought is that people say Jim's thoughts are divided by the items in the equation but that's the wrong way round... for this thoughts to be divided by those items, they (sex, love etc...) would be the denominator and the thought cloud would be the numerator ?

The story goes, Jenna originally saw the dove necklace on a friend and admired it so much, her friend let her borrow it. Then Jenna bought her own. So I assume it's a personal possession she also wears on the show. I noticed since then she's also worn a unicorn and a butterfly.
