Get Rid Of The English Judge!

Ok these reality shows have gone too far. Each of them feel like they have to have an english judge for some odd reason. Thank you Simon. The engish judge on this show is so out of touch with American talent, it is obvious he does not belong. Look at his voting compared to the other two judges. The english dude is too quick to judge. He is just horrible. I guess this is a first for us Americans to have a reality show in wich we dont need the "english dude".
RedHotFarmGal
I agree....see my post....let us see what everyone has to give us before giving them the boot off the stage. They can still give them the boot after they perform for us a little.
nnooch
I disagree. I think Brandy & David need to go. In order to make this show work you need credible judges. The talent they have put through is a joke.
Horatio
I would much rather see Brandi and her whole "Im a Diva" attitude disappear than anyone, including the worst of the auditions. I cannot stand celebrities with that disgusting "Diva" Ego garbage, and she personifies it. She needs to get over herself, and is more annoying than the other judges because she even treats THEM like theyre lucky to be in her presence. Divas need to get the big "X" before these celebs let it get to their head that they are some kind of royalty amongst us mere mortals....and that is exactly how Brandi acts.

Like I said in my post about her, I realize from seeing her on Oprah she has a whole set of issues, but even there she was acting like she was some kind of 'Princess.' Puh-lease.

I think it's all wrong from the git-go, trying to be a lot of things its not. This limey nobody Cowell-wannabe (He's an English reporter - England is almost nothing but fishrag tabloids! In America, he'd be gutter-scum compared to the 4th Estate!) ruins the entire program - there's little doubt about that. I just hope that idiot reads any of this - not just to hear me, but to hear the words of everybody that represents the community possible when we leave him and his and make our own country, just so that he won't be 'cor blimey aghast' when the ratings tank.

But I dislike Brandy as well - Pushing Hasselhoff's well-meaning button was funny once, and cute twice, but seven times? That's just purely assinine behavior. And she should know better - She was once (and never again) a judge on the former variety show "Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge," formerly sans "Challenge", cash prize, and judges.

As I recall Vladimir Milosevich was on that show--as well as the short lived Fox show "30 Seconds to Fame"--billed as Vladmir. What I'm getting at is I'm something of a performance-and-variety buff, and it kills me inside and out that this one has been defecated on by the presence of the judges and the incompetence of all involved in production.
America's got talent, it just also has ********.
MicheleFloyd
The English guy was fine. I think he had the best eye for talent in the room. Brandy was fine. David Hasselhoff was ok but a little like a court jester, I thought.
Steveoo
I despise the english guy, I mean at least wait too see exactly what the contestants are going to do! I am saying this, and I'm british! The guys a dick! Stuck up jerk.
Thadius856
It really makes you wonder who came up with the rule that all American Idol ripoffs must have an English guy. WHO EXACTLY is he anyway? Jeeze.
boochie
Hell no! The english guy is the best judge out of the three.
Jamy13
Rude, obnoxious, arrogant!! If he has to be on the show - then let him buzz when he wants but to push the other judges buttons is childish and RUDE - especially after only 3 seconds! If he is a Simon wannabee, he has certainly failed. Not entertaining at all and may cause me to grab my remote!!

On the positive side - the show was very entertaining. Regis - you done good!!

just my opinion ... but piers does not get american culture. he should be replaced.

I watched America's got Talent last night and enjoyed the performances except when they were interupted (before even given a chance) by Piers Morgan. I found him to be rude, arrogant and a pompous jackass. He should be XXXXX'd off and the sooner the better. He has no clue about American humor and what gives him the right to hit other judge's buttons? It was painful to watch and I won't watch it again unless he either is gone or acts more reasonable.

Why is it that the brits are always the bad guys?
Not that I disagree, I'm just curious...

It goes way way back, we are always the cunning evil ones in films, planning to take over the world. This is obviously due to our superior intelligence, and our ability to pronounce words correctly! And so, bringing it up to date, we are naturally the ones to make honest non-bulls*** judgements on acts on reality shows!

MWAUHAHAHAHA! Where did i put those blueprints to my secret lair?!!

Mat (England!)

Something for sure. I was so amazed that the English judge would ring the other judges' gong-bells for them, and that he does not have any respect for talent that he cannot appreciate. For example, the grande gentleman who came onto the stage to play a musical saw was a class act, represented a genre of real and folk talent (esp. U.S.), and knew why he came onto the show - to make the statement which he did.

Secondly, this show has been partially crafted for the purpose of entertaining mean-spirited elements of the viewing audience. How about that.

I would like to re-affirm the aspect of lacking ability to appreciate certain genres of Americana on the part of the British judge. Because he totally squelches and dishonors such presentations with which he is not familiar - this indicates clearly that his judgements are what-I-like-based instead of talent-based. How about that.

Therefore, for certain of the performers to have been treated rudely by the two male judges, esp. by the British judge, does categorize the program as being a rogue sensation and a socially vicious entertainment.

Therefore, I was particularly offended at the dishonor so blatently and callously manifested against certain of the performers - and who were very skilled within their particular category of talent.

Another example was the very mean-spirited treatment against the trainer of the parrot. Even her trade and expertise were decried by the unknowledeable "judge" as being nothing.

Another example of street-urchin treatment against a very entertaining and honorable guest-personality was the very dishonorable insult leveled by D. Hasselhoff against the clothing of the acrobatist (white; very sustainable and in-synch part of the artist's expression). It was definable as a scamp insult against an artist, and it was committed within the setting of judging a performance. I was indeed apalled that this "professional slander" was performed to the artist's face and also before the world. I am certainly no fan of such a despicable and ungodly-proud personality.

All in all, then, the judgement calls and behaviors of the two male judges have been unprofessional because of their "this-is-what-I-like-personally" comments. What they like personally has little to do with a professional judgement or commentary upon a performance: especially if a performance is (1.) allowed for only a matter of seconds AND (2.) if a performance has a universal element of repudable and genre-based soundness.

But things are as they are. Not for long, all ye American or otherwise blokes.

The female judge is more sociably stable and reliable in her speeches than are her fellow-judges.

It is true that, nowadays, millions of dollars can be made through a vicious and dishonorable format, such as "Survivor", which plays upon political back-stabbing. Such is the general category of tis show, "America's Got Talent": especially because of the two male judges. Neither one of them have a broad enough range of human experience in appreciation to do justice to their jobs as judges of talent.

I do not care for the show because of the personalities and professionalism of the two male judges and will therefore be glad to see this show cancelled. I hope it disappears soon. Perhaps it will not.

Perhaps society and life as we know it now will also soon disappear. How about that. It is sad.

But I'd be willing to make a cheap one-sawbuck bet that neither of these two rogue judges are on the intake about anything. How about that.
SimonandPiers
i think he's the best judge-anyone agree?
Daramane
No.
Horatio
Not really. Im not a fan of any of them, but at least I can see why David and Brandy are judges. Brandy has sold millions of albums in the US & UK, and David has sold millions of albums throughout Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc). But peirs(sp?) is just some tabloid article writer, and meant as a Simon clone.
wgm
No.
SimonURNot
and you are no Simon. The girl was AMAZING and she is only 11 years old. How dare you criticize her clothes, hair and shoes?! Her mother probably picked them out, not her, and you robbed her of her moment with your reckless comments. She was crushed at what should have been the proudest moment of her life and you may have done permanent damage to her developing sense of self. Shame on you. Simon is a jerk, but he could give genuine praise when it was called for. You are trying too hard to be Simon, and being mean just for means sake is not what people love about him or how you are going to get people to watch your show. If NBC was smart they would get away from this American-Idol-rip-off show they are trying to do and take it in an original direction.
Oregon4me
Piers Morgan did say yes to her going on. He was only giving advise on what might help. He seemed to think she had a very good chance. While I enjoy Simon Cowell more then this guy, I like both of their honest responses.
teela1342
What the child was wearing was totally age appropriate. Not to cutsie or frumpy or strange. Spot on. He should have said "Good job" and let it go. Instead he decided to generally one shot the child's entire appearance without any specific critique. I promise she heard this louder than she did the praise.

The guy was just wrong.
SimonURNot
I'm cool with honesty, but did you see her little face? He could have said that she needed a make over in 100 different ways, but she's only 11 and I don't think it was necessary or appropriate for him to throw that at her like that. (Did you see her look down at her shoes when he said she needed to change them? My heart broke for her!)
Oregon4me
I like him. I think he brings an honest side to the rating of the acts.
Oregon4me
I'm not trying to be cold toward the girl but she wants to make a career of it. I found in watching American Idol that the people who listened to what Simon Cowell had to say were the ones who advanced further in the show. If she wants to go on with a career in the business this is a good time for her to toughen up. It will make it better for her.
SimonURNot
As you can tell, I *H*A*T*E* him...he is trying too hard to be like Simon, with the sharp criticism...but he is missing it entirely and just being MEAN. I can't believe what he said to that 11 YEAR OLD GIRL. Did anyone else notice that, at what should have been the proudest moment of her short life she was totally CRUSHED! She heard his comments about her appearance louder and clearer than the applause, standing ovation and gushing compliments of the other two. He has to go.
GSAgirl
yeah woo hoo shes 11 but yelling into a microphone is not a talent no matter what age! everyone but mutes can do that!
teela1342
Toughen up???? SHE IS 11!!!!!

Simon usually gave specific advice. Piers just insulted this little girl's hair, clothes, and shoes without any info on what to change them into. One is a critique, the other is just being crappy to a child because it is your turn to be "the mean British judge".
Oregon4me
Yes, she is a little girl. She is a little girl who wants to go into the music industry. BTW, I have heard Simon tell people they needed to change their looks.
SimonURNot
Amen, Teela;)
teela1342
We aren't debating talent. Crap voice or not, he was still pointlessly cruel about her look. HE liked her voice. We are talking about the way he spoke to her. Hell, I am 32 and I don't want people talking shite about my shoes. Especially on national T.V.
SimonURNot
no one on american idol was 11!! And as someone already said, simon was specific. And as I said, he could have told her that she needed to change her look in 100 different ways- this was just crappy and mean. And even if she wants to go into this industry, she didn't need to learn all at once and on national tv that people in the industry (and in general really) are just plain evil.
Oregon4me
I realise what we are talking about but I felt he mentioned her looks because she looked like a little girl singing like a grownup. I thought she was brilliant but dressed like that suggested Daddys little girl was going on stage and not a girl with a wonderful talent she would like to use.

Sure he does, but he usually says that their shirt is too tight or their hair is too greasy or their pants are too sparkly. Hell, he told Chris to lose the sunglasses. That is specific information on what people can do to improve their apperance. Not usually just "wonderful voice, change everything else". Piers was pointlessly mean. Like he had a quota to fill or something.

Then he should have said that. That might have actually been helpful and not crushing. "Sweetheart, next round try to wear something that shows off your youthful side." She probably could have handled that just fine. Instead, what she hear loud and clear was "you are going to the next round, but you are ugly"
AtchWayOgDay
The comment to that eleven year old WAS too much. I think Morgan was trying to mess with her, but he was just plain rude. He is a Simon clone.
Here's something I wrote earlier:

America's Got Talent?

Give me a break. Brandy Norwood is the only judge with any sense. David Hasselhoff and Piers Morgan think with the wrong head. They voted no against a sailor who was doing a beat box act that I thought was pretty impressive. Far less people can make such sound effects with their mouths than people who can dance with rhythm and take their clothes off. Granted Brandy said no to the sailor too but at least she wasn't the one who told him the show wasn't a chip and dale contest. I don't understand.

I think the beat box act was highly discriminated against; my intelligence is insulted. Somebody told me Morgan is big in Europe, but I've never heard of him before this show. I remember Hasselhoff's career in Baywatch; who is he to judge talent? Who is he to deny a guy for having a great rack and in the next round doing the opposite to a female for the same reason?

I'm never watching this show again. I am thoroughly disgusted.

While I didn't watch the show this week, it sounds like Piers was as specific as you say Simon is. From what I'm reading, he told her to change her shoes, change her dress, change her hair. That's pretty specific.

And as for Simon being specific, I don't call, "That sounds like a drunk at a wedding," or "You can hear that any night at a karaoke club," exactly constructive criticism.

And as much as the posters here say it's the parents' job to make sure their kids are not watching trash TV, I think it's also the parents' job to make sure they don't put them in the situation this girl was in.

Don't blame Piers...he's just doing what the producers (i.e., Simon for everyone who doesn't seem to think Simon knows what's going on) have told him to do. These TV shows are out for the ratings, and 11-year-olds are fair game. Anybody who has watched any of these reality shows should be aware of that by now.

This is not a true talent contest by any stretch of the imagination. The girl's parents are using it to get their daughter on TV for wide coverage in hopes a talent scout will see her. Therefore, they are using the show. Likewise, NBC is using these contestants to try to produce a high-rating show, and they'll do what it takes at whoever's expense. That's show biz....

Piers sickens me. It's deplorable to criticize an 11 year old girl for wearing appropriate dress, shoes and hair for her age. Good job giving a little girl self-esteem issues. I even recall Simon Cowell once telling the auditioner's to dress their age, I don't even think he would stoop to this level.
growlsinger
He's trying to be like Simon, because Simon was a nobody before AI and he figures if he takes the same approach he'll get a show someday. He's a loser if that's what he took away from an 11 yr olds performance (maybe when she wins she will dress to his liking). He was rude and out of line.
teela1342
Bottom line -

Nobody in the universe is going to convince me that it is ever okay for an adult to be ****** to a child. No situation. No "means to an end", "that is hollywood", "she asked for it" crap.

And you didn't watch the show anyway . . . so much for informed opinions.
Moluvssr
I like him....First I think he is GORGEOUS, love the accent and besides....ya gotta have a "Simon" clone...people tune in just to hear the remarks...it is what makes for interesting television....As far as the little girl was concerned...her talent was her voice, not what she wore or what her hair looked like....give her a break...she is only 11 and she was great!

Anyway, I think Piers is fantastic....This is by far an interesting show...Although Piers could have stopped drooling over the Snow White Stripper., I mean she wasn't all that and a bag of potato chips, now was she????
purplepixie
Personally, I am sick of both Piers and Simon. Both of them are annoying idiots! I think they should go back to Britan and never come back. Both Simon and Piers have no talent to speak of and they are both stupid. Both "men" (and I use the term loosely) should stop critizing people! They are both evil!

Piers critized the 11 year old because that is the only age group he is intelligent to do that to! I think that Piers and Simon critize people because deep down they realize that they are both losers with no talent and that they make fun of people to make themselves feel better!
brooks
People he's the only saving factor to this [censored] of a show, if you red my recap you would have seen he was the only real judge up there.. Remember what the definition of a judge is. To judge somebody. He was just giving her costructive pointers for the next time they see her. U guys have to admit she needs a major make-over.
greygal
Shame,Shame on Piers Why can't an eleven year old look her age for a change. After all I thought this show was about talent.
