Full Version: My opinion
NBC > Reality > America's Got Talent
Phase
When I saw the previews for this show about 6 hours before it came on I was very excited. I usually miss these talent-type shows and I was very happy to catch this one coming on, and it would be the very first episode no less, ahh a series I get to follow, finally!

However, I was slightly disappointed with the way the judges handled the show, espically the English guy. For one, I think they should be told not to mess with another judge's button. If I were in one of the judging seats and another judge was throwing my vote in for me, I would be severly ticked off.

The English guy. He has to go, he was rude, and way to quick to judge stuff. I really did not enjoy seeing him on this show, and I hope he's either kicked off, or the next season (if there is one) doesn't include him.

Brandi.. I thought she was okay. Some of the times I didn't agree with her judgements, but it's all about opinion I suppose.

David was the one judge I did like. I would like to see him more often if the show does get into a new season.

Overall, the show was alright, it wasen't the best talent show i've seen, but it's a new series, with two rather quirky judges. I really liked some of the acts, and I also think the judges should give a performer atleast 60 seconds before they go kicking someone off stage. Give them a chance!

My two cents.

I watched the show tonight and thought that, apart from some things that need to be polished up, it was pretty fun. The show, for the most part, kept me on the edge of my seat. The idea that anything goes is great...

In response to the people who are mocking the judges and raining doom and gloom on the show... I am a little surprised... thus far, the judges come across as very sincere and real... the British judge is not any more harsh than Simon, in fact he is a much nicer version... Brandy is sweet and professional while David is honest, respectful, and kind to the contestants... After all, why should the judges be mean to the contestants? Everyone is just putting their stuff out there, that's gutsy and humiliating enough (if it doesn't work out), no need to further embarrass them for the sake of audience enjoyment... Frankly I think that these talent shows are deeply in need of respect towards the people putting their neck on the line? (at least to the ones who deserve it, like the harp lady? she was really talented and sang and played beautifully but I think the judges were right when they noted that she wasn?t right for this particular show?)

I do have a couple of criticisms;
1. No one should be allowed to press another judges button!! (of course reasonable exceptions apply)
2. You shouldn?t be able to press the button until at least 10 seconds have passed? if you press the button before that time you are just judging the contestant based on what you think they will do not on what they actually do? Lastly, there are too many commercials, it would be better if at least 4 contestants were allowed to perform in-between each commercial because otherwise the viewer feels as if they are constantly being interrupted? (because the acts are so varied the viewer is constantly having to switch his attentions to a different type of performance and that tends to make the viewer feel like the show is going by a lot faster? currently the trend seemed to be two contestants and then commercial? that makes the viewer feel too scattered, as though they are constantly being interrupted).

Over all, I think the show is great, unique and entertaining... I hope it keeps going and does well... Plus it is great to see David and Brandy do something fairly unscripted?

As for the performer I vote to win thus far; I must vote for the dog performer... you could actually see the love between him and his dogs, and it was obvious that they were loving it... the act was original, fun and had lots of heart!

Seriously? That was one of the worst dog acts I've seen in my life.

The act before him was actually far superior. Wazoo, the Congo African Grey parrot, is in the 2nd most famous parrots performing in the world (beaten only by Einstein at the Knoxville Zoo).

Don't believe me if you don't want, but I've seen her perform many a time. The microphone was not set up for such a performance, as I've heard the bird sond far clearer on other shows. It leads me to believe that the Ahnuld impersonator actually was dead on, just the equipment was way off.

If that act's not worth the prize money, just say so or don't let them enter. But in no way is there a need to insult the poor woman on national TV. There's her livelyhood and what she does for a living... or, used to.

Still don't believe me? Check out Wazoo on Discovery Channel's show named Pet Star, for one. She took first place with ease.

I must say I completely agree with you there... it was really ridiculous for the British judge (sorry don't remember his name)to say what he did, and he made an [censored] of himself with the comment... it actually kind of upsets me still to think back on it... I study psych, and have done some research on how long it takes to train animals to do anything let alone to talk! It was horribly unintelligent of him to say that he could teach the parrot to talk in an hour, in fact it was really really dumb... the woman should be proud of herself though... she stood up to him and is obviously much brighter and knows a lot more information that matters in the real world...

But I still love the dog act... wink.gif

Ok, one more thing I think was insanely in bad taste was the male stripper... it really was totally inappropriate for him to be on a family show that kids were watching right in the audience... did they not screen these contestants or are they just so desperate for a hit that they are willing to do anything... Perhaps I was being too generous in my initial post... from the sounds of the other comments I have read, the show will really need to make some serious changes to stay on the air for the season...

Two things occurred to me...one is that the judges need to behave as professionally as they seem to expect the contestants to behave, and two...they (the judges) can all thank their lucky stars they didn't have to start their careers on a show like AGT!

I thought when they X someone off there would be no discussions... why have it if your not going to do what THEY said the rules were. Also Brandy was obnoxous.

I thought the show was very interesting. I think the judges are great! they tell it how it is and are good about it! David Hasselhoff is a great guy. he is not a has been. he is a wonderful actor and singer! I really like his acting and singing! if you don't like the show or the judges just don't watch it! that is what i think!
boochie
Yes David Hasselhoff is a good actor and probably a good person in general, but he is just TOO IRRITATING on the show.
smartangie8
i think that david is just fine on the show! Just totally fine! He is great! May God Bless! And may he bless all on the show!
boochie
He's not TOTALLY fine. He's okay

Right. Absolutely.

Hey Jessie - Your two cents' worth is actually worth two million dollars to NBC.

How about that. It's true - in black and white!

Actually, your advice is worth lots more than two million dollars. It is truly amazing, yes?
