I also saw Melissa Marcus on a quick shot in the audition holding room and was wondering why they didn't put her on the show. I hope that she will be on soon. She is incredible and hopefully will go far in the contest. Good Luck Melissa

Right - I hope that she gets past the unprofessionalism on the part of the mock judges.

I am glad for the professionalism of the American Idol judges.

I am truly surprised at the unprofessionalism of the judges of "America's Got Talent".

More than anything, I hope that they do not cruelly insult this young lady. Even persons who are not so talented do not deserve a mean-spirited treatment.

Hello, just really wondering 'WHY" this show did not show any "Baton Twirlers", they showed them warming up, I think I recall at least 2 different Twirlers, "WHY" can they not get the recgonization that they Deserve?, They showed enough of other talents, why not show them all and give Twirling the Publicity that it deserves, after all these Twirlers have trained extremely hard to be where they are today, through hard work and dedication and of course for the LOVE OF BATON! This is a SPORT that Twirlers pay for to learn, practice, perfect and COMPETE, in many levels of Competition, I wish they really would have gave them the break they deserve!!, This is not just a back yard talent, it is REAL TALENT, I sure do hope things change, but in the end Congrats to the Twirlers that made it that far, you desserve a hand! way to go to keep the SPORT alive!

I do love baton and think it would have been great on the show, but it would have to be something extra fancy. They are looking for a talent that could be a vegas style show remember. People wouldn't sit and watch the same person twirl a baton for more than a few minutes without wanting more. Even if youv'e got the best three minute routine out there, you have to know you could entertain the audience and captivate them for much longer to make it on this show.

The baton twirler is not Melissa Marcus. Its Rebbeca Lantz from Corona California. She is really good she went to worlds last year. She didn't make it through to the finals. There were two twirlers and they put through an older man that was there last year.

They didn't show them because:
1. It's a waste of time
2. Nobody cares except twirlers and their parents (and they don't count)
3. It's a waste of time-Why spend hours twirling a stupid stick when you could be doing something better (i.e. watching tv, eating a chili cheese dog, staring at the sun)?

I think it is strange they went into the "archives" and pulled up a thread with posts from last season.

Some people are so proud of that one time they think they were clever they just can't let go.

They showed the guy who was on I've Got A Secret, the black guy baton twirler. Also, they showed a little girl drop the baton.

if any of you have ever picked up a baton or really looked at it, you would understand how difficult it really is. The amount of time, energy, and money even to get an advanced twirler to where they are is unbelievable! I don't think anyone has ever seen a real baton twirling competition. The amount of things that go on and the little amount of space that they have to happen in really makes no sense. People think of baton has a hobbie, not a sport. Baton isn't as simple as building an airplane. There are many risks. I am a twirler and I have seen at ten injuries a day at some competitions. At Notre Dame University (the National Championships) a man overdosed on painkillers because of a past baton injury. Paramedics had to come in and they found him unconscious under the bleachers. And yes, for those of you wondering, the girl that was on the previews WAS Rebecca Lantz. I have met her and she is outstanding. The older man was John Mitchell, a world champion. He has gotten me where I stand today, for he is my coach. I really think that the twirlers should have stayed and Boy Shakira and others like him should have left.

This is kinda coming out of the blue, but I will agree with you that it is a sport and can be very hard to do. But this discussion was from last season, so I'm not sure if the people that were involved in this discussion are even on the board now or if the people that are on the board now were involved in this discussion.
