I dont know if it is just me or it is a clever writer's ploy but Meredith, (the alcholic divorcee with a historectemy) is actually the office character that has the sweetest and most genuine heart. She is the one who took Michael's gift in the Christmas episode, and in the injury, she volunteers her car. I don't know if anyone else agrees though.

I like Meredith and I hope they include her more in the next season. I love that she's like the drunk floozy lol.

Drunk at the xmas party dancing with the Pacster, then flashing Michael.

Then there's the time she's with Captain Jack and comes back to the party with a life preserver over her naked chest.

And I also noticed during the fire, she's talking to the firemen (in the background).

Yes Meredith (not drinking) is very nice and positive...

In booze cruise, i love it when michael announces it is a booze cruise and meredith says "ALLLLRIGHT!!" That was hilarious!

also in health care, when she says "uterus is different from vagina. i still have a vagina" i felt so bad for her!

I love Meredith & her alcoholic-ness! She is one of the funniest secondary characters. I also agree with ilovetheoffice, when Michael tells everyone that it's a booze cruise & she gets excited is so funny!

And Meredith swearing off drinking....during the week.

Don't forget how hysterical she was in Boys & Girls:

Hi I'm Merdith and I'm an Alco....good at supplier relations.

In five years, I'd like to be five years sober....four and half.

Any meredith fan HAS to watch the "got booze video"

This is the beauty of The Office. The "background" characters are so rich for future development! We've only seen hints of their personalities - their "at work" personas as well as snippets of their personal lives.

After watching the first 6 episodes of the BBC version, I was surprised to notice that even though there are a number of characters working in the background, you don't really get to know many of them by name and there's little or no interaction with the main characters.

So the NBC writers have UNLIMITED opportunities to gradually tell us more about Stanley, Meredith, Phyllis, Toby, Oscar and the others. They're all funny and unique in their own way, and totally enrich the show overall. Great examples of Meredith listed above!!

The beauty of it is how just a line or two here and there can tell you so much about a character! Like Creed saying "I like to steal things" or Kevin admitting "I'm in a band" (and then we see his tape when Pam is looking for a wedding band).

Right, I think every character in The Office is perfect.... I can't pick a least favorite.... one of my favorite lines from Oscar is

Michael: Hey there, showin your colors

Oscar: <looks>

Michael: Don't you wish you could wear that everyday

Oscar: What are you implying?

Behind her alcoholic and repressed sluttyness, Meredith is a genuinely good person. I am in agreement with you. The woman has just been through a lot (not to mention getting run over by Michael and getting a bag over her head containing a bat inside...) Pretty crazy
