I LOVED the part in The Client (I believe that was the name of the episode with Tim Meadows at Chilis), anyway, when Michael bridged from talking jokes and drunk to what they could offer county and then Jan was about to chime in when he very masculinely, professionaly, sexy, controllingly gestured for her not to say anything - that one move was amazing. I wanted to kiss him right there and then!! His move and gesture came across so natural and such but I'm sure he had to rehearse it to get it right and stuff in front of a mirror, but boy, he nailed it!

And no, I'm not into controlling guys or anything, but there was just something about the way he gestured/motioned telling Jan that he was in control, it's working, etc. - hubba-bubba!! That was hot!!!

Am I alone here? Did anyone else notice it or get impressed by it? He is so hot!
dmurphy
I think for a second Michael forgot his insecurities and let his instincts take over. He understood Christian and they were on the same wavelength, which was why he was so sure of himself. I agree it was hot and Jan must have thought so too smile.gif

That was the first time I thought he was qualified to be regional manager. Now THAT is how a person in charge should act and take control of a situation. Gosh, maybe he should get drunk more often. Me like! Me like!
humby
yeah michael impressed me in the client; he may come off as a dork but the man obviously knows what he's doing. He gives me a boner.
Officionada
Yeah, that is the one real flash of work brilliance we've seen from him. I still think it's funny that he felt like he needed a joke (and that he called Pam to read to him from his joke book was so hysterically over the top), when in the end, all it really took was to be himself. So now we know what Jan first saw in him. Sweet.
ilovepam
Keep in mind Jan was SMASHED!!!

He does have one other good moment in opening of the pilot when he closes the library sale for Jim. Of course, he calles the lady a gentelman but he closed a sale that Jim couldn't. So he has two moments when he acts like a manager. Kind of sad really but I think that's two more than David Brent so he's doing good! smile.gif

Well I have a different scene, different episode that Michael made me melt. It was the last scene in the Halloween episode. He's sitting there in his condo feeling left out once again for having to fire Devin, he just looks so completely vunerable, the doorbell rings..Was it perhaps a friend? No, but the fact that little kids in Halloween costumes lifted his spirits made me want him to find love...He definately has a human side but its funnier when he doesn't.
jamalot
Yes, I love how Michael is refreshingly un-self-conscious at the end of Halloween. Also, just prior to that scene, we see him humbly picking up the bits of torn gift certificate, and scraping pumpkin off his windshield. I also love the scene with him and Toby's daughter. He does best when he's not trying so hard to impress people...thereby making him the worst person ever to have a camera focused on him all day.
steph15
I think the Booze cruise scene with him and Jim is my favorite "Michael melting" moment. We see that he is really sweet and understanding underneath his child like personality. I want to cry just to think of him telling Jim to never ever give up. He's so sweet!
humby
we need more michael acting professionally moments. I would really like to see at least one scene where he does something that a sober jan can't.
JimHalpertIsLife
ehh michael acts proffesional sometimes.

but only when he's drunk so..
Diapers
Michael drank a lot of courage that night. He was feeling extra awesome.

David Brent has a couple as well. The most memorable would be the second last scene in the Christmas Special where he finally tells Finch (the Todd *F.* Packer prototype) to F/O

Another time I just thought of is in Take your Daughter to Work Day. He retreats to his office and for the first time seems to be doing work in order to get out of doing something he doesn't want to do (instead of the other way around). The way he and Toby's daughter take to each other is just so darn sweet.
TheOfficeTemp
On "The Client", Michael told the staff to sit tight until he got back from his meeting with the client. Just realized that DWIGHT was the ONLY one to sit tight until he got back. LOL He stayed in the office until Michael came back in!! LOL

And come to think of it, he was in Michael's office, in his underwear, looking out watching Jan get out of the cab, and Angela was walking into the building. Dwight wasn't rushing around getting his clothes on. So....

...did Angela walk in on him in his undewear?

I can't believe that Dwight had the presence of mind to take off his clothes and sleep on the sofa under that nasa blanket (is that what its called) inside the office.

But, he was a good little soldier.

He was told to sit tight until Michael returned and he did just that.
vbarkley
Good observation about Angela walking in on Dwight in his underwear - maybe they had a quickie on Michael's desk????
Officionada
Haha! Maybe the NASA blanket came from the office First Aid kit. Angela chastises Dwight, since she is, after all, the Safety Officer. He likes that. She grins that grin and then they kiss. The NASA blanket gets thrown over the camera (block out squished spider images!).

Maybe we've got something here. laugh.gif

I just bought this ep on iTunes... how did I not see it until now?!?!? Turns out it was the only episode I had never seen! Awesome!

Anyway, it was hilarious. I love how Michael showed he can be so professional and know exactly how to land a huge contract (and know what Tim Meadows likes) and then turn around and get himself into a relationship mess with Jan.

The Jam date is cool, but the drama at the end was even cooler. I know I've said crap like what Jim has said to girls I've liked but couldn't have.

Great episode, and I regret not seeing it until ten minutes ago!

I was rewatching this episode the other night with a friend (who I have successfully made a flan by the way! She's only through The Injury but I'll get her caught up eventually!) Anways, I noticed something I never saw before in this episode. When Michael and Jan come out of Michael's office to leave for the meeting you see a shot where you can see the side of Jim's desk. Taped to the side is a piece of yellow legal paper that looks like it has a drawing on it. I was wondering if anyone has noticed this before and if anyone knows what's on the paper? Do we see this any other time? The only thing I could come up with is maybe Pam drew a picture of Jim since Jim drew a picture of Pam that we've seen taped to her desk. Any thoughts or theories on this??

OK, in this episode Dwight spends the night in the office. When he's awakened in the morning by the camera crew's arriving, he immediately runs to Michael's office and looks out the window.

My question is this: why did he stay overnight in the office? Was he worried because Michael hadn't yet returned from the sales call?

Or was he so upset over how he was depicted in Michael's script that he wanted to confront him as soon as humanly possible?
CreedRocks
There was a thread about this a long time ago. He stays because Michael tells the entire office before he leaves to stay until he returns. He says it's an order: follow it blindly! Of course Dwight is the only one who takes that literally.

Ahhh. Thank you, that makes total sense. By the way, did I a manual search for this thread, and ended up starting my own.

Thank you to whomever moved it to the correct place. biggrin.gif

Wow, only 34 responses? I can't even imagine how many responses there would have been if The Office had the same amount of fans back when this episode orginally aired as it has today. There's JAM and their "date," of course Michael and Jan over at Chile's, Dwight in his skivvies, "Dwigt," Agent Michael Scarn, so many funny moments!!!

this was one of my favorites as well, mainly for Jan & Michael interaction laugh.gif

Jan: [to waitress] Excuse me, could I have a vodka tonic, please?

=========

Michael: Thought that was you. Hi. Michael Scott. This is Jan Levinson-Gould.
Jan: Just Jan Levinson.
Michael: No Gould?
Jan: No. [To Christian] Thank you very much for meeting with us. Have you been waiting long?
Christian: No, not long.
Michael: Uh, Jan, what happened?
Jan: Michael.
Michael: Is Gould dead? What uh-
Jan: Michael, we got divorced, ok? [to Christian] I'm so sorry. Excuse me.
Michael: Wow, you're kidding me! Do you wanna talk about?
Jan: Michael. [to hostess] Uh, could we have a table for three, please?
Michael: When did this happen?
Jan: We're in a meeting.
Michael: Ok.
Hostess: This way, please.
Jan: Christian.
Michael: Alright, after you.
Christian: Thank you.
Michael: [mouths "Wow" to the camera]

What I LOVE about this episode is Michael's competence. At first glimpse you think it just shows up at the end (or at least, that is what I thought when I first watched it), but in all actuality, it was there from the beginning of the ep. He changes the venue of the meeting because he is well aware that he can get this deal if he plays it down. I love Micahel in this ep. All of it, he's great.

Oh, yeah, there is some awesome Jim and Pam in this one too.

Yeah, I totally agree. I remember feeling "Hey, I would buy my paper from this guy". And I also found Michael oddly attractive in this episode. Just for a split second, when he got all serious and started closing the deal. You could tell that he really cared about what he was doing and what he was saying. I loved that.

Wow, I'm very surprised that this thread hasn't been resurrected this week after the JAM-on-the-roof reprise.

I re-watched yesterday and I admit that I almost got a little teary when JAM was on the roof. Jim was so excited! And then the crash with "swaying isn't dancing" : still sad, but now that we know where it goes...not quite as terrible! It's been so great to watch that come full circle.

And I also have to say that I LOVE the very ending of this episode where Jim and Michael are at their desks and they sort of just look at each other and shake their heads. Jim and Michael have one of the most interesting relationships on the show IMO, and I love seeing them totally relating to each others girl problems in that one little moment. Totally brilliant.

I don't know a number, but my favorite by far would be the "The Secret" crotch-hug. laugh.gif
