This is my first post, so hello to everyone.
Since I saw the finale, a few songs i've heard make me think of Jim/Pam's relationship right now. One that really stands out is "Down" by Blink-182. This is from Jim's point of view.
Listen to it if you get a chance, easy to find on radioblogclub.com.
Anyone else have songs that bring up feelings about them (or anyone else on the show)?

Hmm well when I think of JAM i get a big REO Speedwagon vibe going (And for the record I am not THAT old, late 20s to be exact) Something like "Can't Fight this Feeling Anymore" granted it also makes the perfect couples-skate song too but I digress.

Yeah, I like the Partridge Family:
I Think I Love You
I Woke Up In Love This Morning
I'll Meet You Halfway
The River Is Wide
Together We're Better
And of course, the Grassroots:
Midnight Confessions
Let's Live For Today
Sooner Or Later
Things I Should Have Said To Her
I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore - great song!

THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR
And I never thought I'd feel this way
And as far as I'm concerned
I'm glad I got the chance to say
That I do believe I love you
And if I should ever go away
Well then close your eyes and try
To feel the way we do today
And then if you can remember
Keep smilin'
Keep shinin'
Knowing you can always count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for
Well you came and opened me
And now there's so much more I see
A so by the way I thank you
And then for the times when we're apart
Well then close your eyes and know
These words are coming from my heart
And then if you can remember

I think "Accidentally In Love" by the Counting Crows fits them well. Another good one would be "As Long As You're Mine" from the musical, "Wicked".

OH my gosh just this morning I heard a song that reminded me of them! It's called "Only of You" by Green Day. The first few lines are like:
"I wish I could tell you, but the words would come out wrong....Oh if you only knew....the way I've felt for so long...."

every love song has been reminding me of them.
today it was Get Lifter by John Legend
I got something new for you
When it hits you you wont know what to do (like it did)
I know you getting tired of the same old thing (roy)
But I'm gonna break the rules and change the game (lay one on you-- I dont care you're engaged)
You'll be screaming my name (if you dont stop me from kissing you)

theres a song called 'closer' by an awesome blues artist named Keb' Mo that pretty much tells the story of the finale with strange accuracy-
"we've been friends, close companions, theres nothing to concede. So im letting go my little secret to tell you how i feel..."

I'm a bit more cynical. The song I keep hearing in my head during the two scenes is the Joe Jackson classic, "Different for Girls".
A few snippets of lyrics;
"Wanted to be sure you're feeling right
Wanted to be sure we want the same thing..."
"She said, I can't believe it
You can't, possibly mean it..."
"Don't we, all want the same thing
Don't we
Well, who said anything about love?"
"Don't you know that it's different for girls
Who said anything about love?"

Not that these are songs about JAM, but they were important in episodes with them in it:
-"Sing" by Travis is the song in The Client that Jim has on his iPod when he and Pam are walking out of the building together and he puts in one earpiece and then she asks for the other. They just stand there together, listening, and "sway" (as Jim calls it the next day). You don't hear the words to the song but I recognized the music right away!
-"Tiny Dancer" by Elton John is playing at the end of The Dundies right after Pam ALMOST asks Jim an important question and then he puts her in the car with Angela and wistfully stares after her.
When I hear either of these songs, I can just play the whole scenes out in my head! Sigh!

"Baby when I met you there was peace unknown
I set out to get you with a fine tooth comb
I was soft inside
There was something going on
You do something to me that I can't explain
Hold me closer and I feel no pain
Every beat of my heart
We got something going on
Tender love is blind
It requires a dedication
All this love we feel needs no conversation
We can ride it together , ah ha
Making love with each other , ah ha
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me
To another world
And we rely on each other , ah ha
From one lover to another , ah ha"
Um, what? I had my karaoke machine turned up kind of loud. Can you repeat the question?

If thats Dwight and Angela gross! I mean we can hear them talk about it but to see it...umm...
oh ya this is off subject...sorry!
I was watching the other day, i think it was the secret, and saw two VERY FUNNY scenes with them (Dwangela)...one where Dwight says Oscar being gone for sprink cleaning is unacceptable and Angela agrees and they both give each other these smirks...and then kevin say 'Hey...what are you gusy doing?' haha!
Again somewhere (dont know which episode) Dwight asks Kevin if he is still on Rogain, and Kevin says Im not on Rogain...Dwight goes on to ask Angela if she's on any medication(pills) and she says no...and Dwight with this shocked face (trying to hide his concern) says something like 'Are you sure or Your not?' haha all over again...

There's an old Reba McEntire song called "One Promise Too Late." Hopefully Pam won't have this attitude:
I would have waited forever
if I'd known that you'd be here.
We could have shared our lives together
And held each other close all through the years.
But I met someone before you
and my heart just couldn't wait,
So no matter how much I adore you
I've got to stand behind this promise that I made.
Where were you when I could have loved you?
Where were you when I gave my heart away?
All my life, I've been dreaming of you
You came along one promise too late
You came along one promise too late.
I won't say that I'm sorry that I met you.
I can't have you but I never will forget you.
Where were you when I could have loved you?
Where were you when I gave my heart away?
All my life, darling, I've been dreaming of you.
You came along one promise too late.
You came along one promise too late.

Wow, CubeDweller. Those are heavy lyrics, but they're very good. Excellent choice of song.
This is my first post, so hello to everyone. Many thanks for the great posts I've read so far.
I want to cast my vote for "Sing" by Travis. JAM's "date" was fun to see. Sadly though, I think Jim read too much into it. I found my Pam already, but I can remember the girls I liked and "dated", and boy was I bummed when I discovered how one-sided those relationships were. I would love to see Jim and Pam togehter as much as anyone, but this is good drama! My guess is we'll still be wondering where those two stand even after the first episode this fall.

There's a song on the new Dashboard Confessional record that just screams Jim/Pam. Here's a sample:
"The Secret's in the Telling"
The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
Your name is pounding through my veins
Can't you hear how it is sung?
And I can taste you in my mouth
Before the words escape my lungs
And I'll whisper only once...
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
'Cause you will be somebody's girl
And you will keep each other warm
But tonight I am feeling cold

My only contribution to the JAM fanvideo surplus was set to the Old 97's "Designs on You":
Standing on the corner of 6th and "How To Forget?"
Trying to do right by you all night Annette
You can go ahead and get married
and this will be our secret thing
I won't tell a soul except the people in the nightclub where I sing
I don't want to get you all worked up
Except secretly I do
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you
Standing on the corner of 6th and "Where Do I Go?"
The parade's shut down now the rain (Rainn in my video

) is running the show
Where did all these people come from
And how soon can they leave?
Normally I'd be into it but I need to get some sleep
Though I do wish you'd come over
But I'm warning you if you do
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you
Standing on the corner of 6th and "Where Do I Get?"
Trying to do right by you all night Annette
This would only be an experiment
In things that could have been
You can go ahead and get married
And it'll probably never happen again
I don't mean to make you excited
Except secretly I do
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you

I was listening to a song the other that my friend had on her ipod that reminded me of Jim and Pam! It was "We Belong Together" by Gavin Degraw. It's like:
We belong together
Like the open seas and shores
We've all been spoken for
All this indecision
All this independent strength
Still we've got our hearts on save
We've got our hearts on save
Someday when you're lonley,
Sometime after all this bliss,
Somewhere lost in emptiness,
I hope you find this gift...
I hope you find this gift...
I hope you find this gift.

A totally cheesy song but I think the lyrics fit Jim/Pam.
{Daniel Bedingfield - If Your Not The One}
If you're not the one then why does my soul feel glad today?
If you're not the one then why does my hand fit yours this way?
If you are not mine then why does your heart return my call
If you are not mine would I have the strength to stand at all
I never know what the future brings
But I know you are here with me now
We'll make it through
And I hope you are the one I share my life with
I don't want to run away but I can't take it, I don't understand
If I'm not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am?
Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?
If I don't need you then why am I crying on my bed?
If I don't need you then why does your name resound in my head?
If you're not for me then why does this distance maim my life?
If you're not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife?
I don't know why you're so far away
But I know that this much is true
We'll make it through
And I hope you are the one I share my life with
And I wish that you could be the one I die with
And I pray in you're the one I build my home with
I hope I love you all my life
I don't want to run away but I can't take it, I don't understand
If I'm not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am
Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?
Cause I miss you, body and soul so strong that it takes my breath away
And I breathe you into my heart and pray for the strength to stand today
Cause I love you, whether it's wrong or right
And though I can't be with you tonight
And know my heart is by your side
I don't want to run away but I can't take it, I don't understand
If I'm not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am
Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?
(P.S. is there some reason why we can't do things in bold -- I click the "B" and it doesn't work. Grr!)

"For You I Will" by Teddy Geiger
Wandering the streets in a world underneath it all
Nothing seems to be
Nothing tastes as sweet as what I can't have
Like you and the way that you're
Twisting your hair 'round your finger
Tonight I'm not afraid to tell you
What I feel about you
Oh, I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
Cannonball into the water
I'm gonna muster up every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will, for you I will
Forgive me if I stutter
From all of the clutter in my head
Cause I could fall asleep in those eyes
Like a waterbed
Do I seem familiar
I've crossed you in hallways a thousand times
No more camouflage I want to be exposed and not be afraid to fall
Oh, I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
Cannonball into the water
I'm gonna muster up every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will, for you I will
You always want what you can't have
But I've got to try
I'll muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will, for you I will
If I could the lights in the mall and create a mood, I would
Shout out your name so it echoes in every room, I would
That's what I'd do, That's what I'd do, That's what I'd do
To get through to you, yeah

You're Beautiful (James Blunt)
My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.
Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Flying high, [ - video/radio edited version]
And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you

I was listening to yahoo radio the other day, and as I heard this song it occurred to me that it totally made me think of Jim and Pam, then when I realized it was Rhett Miller it seemed perfectly clear, he and his band (The Old 97s) have come up several times in reference to Jam. And thanks to these message boards, I've discovered that I am a huge fan of Rhett, and The Old 97s.
It's called Come Around, here are the lyrics:
I'm dressed all in blue
and I'm rememberin you
and the dress you wore,
When you broke my heart
I'm depressed upstairs
and I'm rememberin where
and when and how and why
You have to go so far
Am I gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
Am I gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
Unless you come around
So come around
I'm dressed all in white
and i remember the night
You came onto me
and opened up my heart
I was hollow then, till you filled me in
Now I'm empty again
I should have never let it start
Am I gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
Am I gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
Unless you come around
So come around
No one else can fix me
Although sometimes my heart tricks me
Into thinkin someone else will do
You are the only one, you are the only one
Am I gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
Am I gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be lonely for the rest of my life
Unless you come around, So come around
So come around
So come around
I'm dressed all in blue
and I'm rememberin you
and the dress you wore,
When you broke my heart

Look After You : By the Fray
If I don't say this now I will surely break
As I'm leaving the one I want to take
Forgive the urgency but hurry up and wait
My heart has started to separate
Oh, oh,
Be my baby
Ohhhhh
Oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
There now, steady love, so few come and don't go
Will you won't you, be the one I always know
When I'm losing my control, the city spins around
You're the only one who knows, you slow it down
Oh, oh
Be my baby
Ohhhhhh
Oh, oh
Be my Baby
I'll look after you
And I'll look after you
If ever there was a doubt
My love she leans into me
This most assuredly counts
She says most assuredly
Oh, oh
Be my baby
Ohhhhhh
Oh, oh
be my baby
I'll look after you
It's always have and never hold
You've begun to feel like home
What's mine is yours to leave or take
What's mine is yours to make your own
Oh, oh
Be my baby
Ohhhhh
Oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you

Since we're on the topic of Rhett Miller, I could go on for days about what a perfect voice he is for Jim's predicament. I like the following lines from Victoria Lee as a possible solution to the "Roy problem":
"She lost her lover to an accident at sea.
She pushed him overboard and ended up with me.
(Chorus)
You'd like to think they're your friends, but they're not your friends,
And in the end a friend's the one you'll never know, oh don't you know?
You'd like to think you're groovy, it's your movie, you see through me, but it's true,
And in the end you'll know, Victoria don't go. Victoria, Victoria don't go."

Based on what you have and the themes we discuss here, I would say these are the top must-have Old 97's songs for your collection (listed by Album: Song):
Hitchhike to Rhome: Wish the Worst
Wreck Your Life: Victoria, Bel Air
Fight Songs: Nineteen
Satellite Rides: Rollerskate Skinny, Designs on You
Hit By A Train: Timebomb, 4 Leaf Clover
Of course, I have all the albums, but this will give you a flavor.
