Full Version: What they did wrong. Producers must read this
NBC > Reality > America's Got Talent

Boy NBC producers sure got it wrong with this show.

1. WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER AMERICAN IDOL! Look if you are only going to put through singers and dancers than you have not improved this type of show.

2. No talent judges. David Hasslehoft is NOT a qualified judge of talent. Brandi MIGHT be able to see past her knowledge base but still, is only qualified to judge some types of singing. The Brit, well I do not know what the heck he is there for. It is an OBVIOUS attempt to create another Simon.

3. The put just about anyone through if it made good TV. Watching that show I was just amazed at what they considered talent and what they did not. Again, they should have talent agents as judges.

4. Inside info from a contestant has stated that most of this is a set up as to who will make better TV.

5. Judges ARE TOO EASY ON KIDS. Sorry, if you want to play with the big boys you have to be honest. Some just are not up to the million dollar level.

6. Judges can not tell talent that they are a one trick pony. HELLO, JUDGES READ THIS- IT IS CALLED AMERICA's GOT TALENT. TALENT- NOT MULIT TALENT. Why do you equate a signer or dancer as MULIT TALENTED? THey are not. They all did the SAME thing in their style.

If you want the show to be a hit you need to be honest that the kids hit wrong notes and not put them through. Really all were a bit too faced. They CLAIM the acts were the same yet when they put someone through who did the same act like the yodel girl, they said she was better than before. No offense, they all were about the same so why favor the kid.

You have to stop only favoring singing and dance groups. WE HAVE ENOUGH IDOL SHOWS. That poor girl, she does not know you are favoring her for the TV not becasue she is worth the top prize. We all know you are just trying to keep some kids and novelty acts in the show to stretch it. You know that if you did not, everyone woudl just say you are weak IDOL.

Well I am a so disappointed in this show.
It is not fair to weed out some of the good variety acts BEFORE I can vote. I might accept that if you had qualified judges but you do not.

Time to retool if you think you have a shot for next year.

Really focus on diversity if you want to be around as long as Idol.

I fully agree with this !!!!

yeah, but I totally agree with the judges tonight. I thought the Millers blew everyone in this competition away and I thought the yodeller and the clogging troupe were fantastic...I would have picked them in exactly that order.

Who are good judges of talent? Americans? People vote for whoever they like... it doesn't mean they are talented. The average Joe knows nothing about what it takes to dance, sing, juggle, etc... so you want them to pick the winner?

In the end, it's all a popularity contest. All That looks hot, so they will get a lot of votes from females. The Millers will get a lot of votes from musicians.

I voted for All That! because they are my friends! And they are awesome!

Actually, I think the diversity is what's causing some of the problems. How do you compare a juggler to a singer to a harpist to a dog act? When you get acts that are so differnt it's hard to determine which is better.

What the show needs is a category system like what Star Search uses. Rate each act based on originality, long term potention, entertainment value and stage presence. The system they are using now is just too simple.

Asa far as the judges go, I think they are all poor choices, but I'm not sure what other 'good' options they have. American Idol has 3 judges that work in the music industry, so it makes sense that they are judges for a singing competition. How many people out there are equally knowledgable on singing, magic, juggling, animal acts, dancing, ventriloquism, etc. to judge all these acts on an even playing field.

I think using talent agents or maybe some experienced Vegas people might be a good idea, but I think NBC was trying to get some star power on the show to ensure it didn't tank. What they don't realize is that before american idol, noone knew who Simon Cowell or Randy Jackson were.

,Matt

P.S.
its MULTI-TALENTED not MULIT-TALENTED. big difference.

Actually, the thing that needs to be improved is the pace of the show. Do the math: 10 acts, 2 minutes each. That's 20 minutes total. Show airs for 120 minutes - commercials, let's be generous and say that there are 40 minutes of commercials. 80 minutes left subtract the 20 minutes of acts. 60 minutes of filler? Talk about reason to change the channel...

Guess you are not American?
I told you guys already who is a good judge of talent- Talent agents. They book many types of acts so they know what will sell and have more experience with the variations.
Brandi can only really be qualified to judge some types of singers. Hassle hoft just needed a job... If you ever heard his albums....Geeze.

Maybe that is the best they had to work with for the budget they had. Maybe if they go for a second season, they will try harder and get better talent to show up.

But in the end you are correct. All talent is popularity. Look, if you can not sell the act, you are not talented enough to win. So it all comes down to being the best showman with your talent.
That is the way it has always been. THere is nothing wrong with that. You have to have more than just the talent to get work or win talent shows. Personality is key to all success.

And yes, if you only give them a limited number to vote for, they will only vote for the superficial.

Now I voted for the vent since I was allowed 10 votes. WHat another idiotic thing. One vote per phone.
Everyone has a phone in there pocket it seems so why give each phone 10 votes? Crazy. It allows them to inflate their numbers.

The danger as we have seen with Idol is that too many people can clan together and vote for their friend and family even if they Suck. Look at Taylor Hicks. Crazy that he won. It is all TV rigged and you should know that. If you do not think dirty pool occurs, you are fooling yourself.

Like I said, have first hand info from a contestant. Simon liked him so they brought the entertainer in. Then they brought him to the front of the long lines you saw in the promo and filmed him there like he was waiting. They even showed him in mnay promos and told him to keep JUNE open. Then they got back to him and said maybe next year. Yet they still used his image in the promos up until the start of the show.
THe entertainer said the people who waited on line, only to have him brought to the front were a bit ticked.

So how ethics has gone down hill with the birth of the reality show. How many times do we now hear about the set up situations and the creative edits that make it look like something it is not.

I fear a simple talent show is has also been subject to this.
Dear Producers., you need to retool, you are getting it wrong.
Call me and I will help you fix it.

sooo david hasselhoff doesnt count? why not? are you saying he doesn't have talent? < if thats true then i really dont think you need much talent to judge the things on this show... if your judging something that has a lot of levels and things like that, then yeah you need knowledge of it... but whats in this show?
