Right now it is 45°F with heavy rains, heavy winds and thunderstorms. The big winds split the neighbors tree earlier today, and the tree was about 40' high and pretty thick trunk.

I once again respectful request a regional Weather thread so I don't have to hear complaints about the heat in the West when the East is cold, rainy and windy.

For the past three days, it has been at least 30 degrees celcius. I believe that's the equivilent of 86 degrees fahrenheit. It's way *too* hot to do anything so all I feel like doing is lying down by a body of water while sipping on a slurpee. I wonder just how long this warm weather will last on the Canadian west coast.

Ninety-degree + weather is the same thing as Hell to me. Literally. You can have it, and everything that goes with it. Have you ever had that claustrophobic feeling, where there's no escape, and you're counting the minutes until you can get out, or escape? That's what it feels like to me. I've also seen my share of people pass out, get heat stroke, and like liz, get no sleep. My favorite experience in the heat was being 8 months pregnant, and trapped in a non-air-conditioned auditorium for graduation almost exactly 6 years ago. I had to leave or I thought I would faint. I hate heat. I guess I'm a little crazed on the subject.

MB, you're in the Bay Area, aren't you? The weather there used to mystify me... May would be insanely hot, and then the weather always seemed to get a lot chillier during the true summer months (the coldest I've ever been in my life was one time when I was out there in June, and we did a trip over to Alcatraz. I swear, I was almost hypothermic).

No, it's great now. Temps are back in the high 70's. It's perfect! Yeah, we usually get 2 or 3 periods, maybe a week at a time, between May and Aug. when we'll be in the 90's and 100's. Then comes September . . . . .all bets are off in September . . . HOT. I love living here. I can't complain about anything weather wise, (despite my bi-otching when it's hot). At least I know it WILL go away. Becca out in the Central Valley and muffy out in Sacramento can get stuck with temps like that for long stretches. And bmac and Bailey down in So. Cal. . . . whew.

You and Samuel Clemens must have had similar experiences. Did he really say, "the coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco?" There are literally about 4 dozen "microclimates" in the Bay Area. San Francisco is usually at least 10-20 degrees colder than here, (we're 20 miles south), and for every mile you go further south, temps go up a degree. Cross the bay, (10 miles?), and temps are again 10 to 20 degrees higher than here. It's crazy.

Guys just ignore me, like I said, I can't complain. And I shouldn't.

Oh, see, I hate the cold. When I was in SF in Sept '98 for two days I was miserable and could not wait to get out of there. I would rather be sweating then shivering. I have a high tolerance for heat and the cold just makes me cranky.

fire weather usually means(at least here in PA) that you are in extra dry conditions and that lighting fires, camp fires, burning garbage etc could start a fire

It rained last night. Outta no where we had rain. The morning wheather said there is snow above 6500ft. The mountains near my house are just barely white.

Wow. It is such a relief! HOT WEATHER!

Yesterday, it was 70, but it was windy, and the sun was hiding, so you had to have a sweater on.
Not today.
Today, at 9, my mom walks in and she's wearing a short sleeved shirt and shorts. It was that hot out.
Now its 71, and unlike everyother day in May, we don't need sweaters! Its just a pure sunny, beautiful hott day.

That's pretty much the same weather we have here today. I hope it is the same tomorrow for everyone's Memorial Day activities.

So the museum I work at is having a HUGE fundraiser next Sat. outside and now they are saying there will be isolated thunderstorms that day! EEK! We need sunshine!!

The elementary school is having Carnival Day today like they always do. The weather is in the 60's, so pretty good but there is a cool wind blowing. I told the girls be glad its not in the 80's like it was last year.
