I see "DVD Easter Eggs" talked about, and I am getting that they are hidden features in DVD's? How you do access them? How do you find them? What exactly are they?
Thanks

I don't think there is any easter eggs on the Season 1 set. Hopefully there will be some for Season 2 dvd.

On the 1st season of the UK The Office there are 2 easter eggs. (An easter egg is an extra feature on a dvd or game that isn't advertised that is hidden on the dvd)
1st egg - allow the main menu to come up on screen. Wait for the menu 'loop' to come to an end. When the menu starts up again, a phone will ring. Press select to get a full length version of 'Free Love Freeway' which was shot for the episode 'Training.'
2nd egg - Go to the special features and go down to 'If you don't know me by now.' Wait until the photocopier starts copying, then press LEFT.

I'll post again after the 2nd season of the US Office DVD comes out and let you know if there are any easter eggs on that set.

I just thought I'd point out that this egg is on the Office Special, not series 1.
But, there is another easter egg on the 2nd disc. Select "slough" in the deleted scenes, wait for the light to fade, and press enter and you'll get the full version of "Who Cares Wins"

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that their aren't any easter eggs on the US season 1.
They are various sites dedicated to easter eggs, and from all the ones I have seen, they make no mention of our "Office"'s first season.

I got to say that season 1 of the office is still one of my fave dvds, and I watch it all the time. But I thought the packaging was really lame. The menus are all cheesy still-frames, not to mention hard to navigate, the episode descriptions are pointless and should have been included as a paper printout packaged with the DVD, and what's the deal with the episode list? The thing I dislike the most are the universal intros to EVERY episode. Just put it at the foot of the DVD and we get it. I also noticed lately that many of the subtitles are just plain wrong (example- in the pilot when Roy honks his horn and Pam leaves, Jim says "Oh, Roy" but the subtitle says "Oh, boy") It seems like the creators and actors put in to the DVD as much as they could, but NBC just had hired some low-rent DVD programmers to design it. Anyone else notice this stuff?

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about the Season 1 packaging and content either. Once I got hooked on the show about a month ago after seeing a few of the Season 2 repeats, right away I needed more, so I headed out to Best Buy.
I didn't realize that there were only 6 episodes in season 1 (since most shows have around 20 eps per season). I was actually in line to pay when I read on the packaging that it contained only 6 episodes. I thought "this must be a sampler or highlights DVD" and didn't think it was worth $23. So I actually put it back on the shelf and left!
Then I learned there were just those 6 eps in the first season, so I went back and bought it. But when I opened it, there was just the disc, no booklet or anything. The commentaries are good but overall my impression is that this was probably released before the show really became a hit and the studio people thought they'd just get it out there and that it probably wouldn't amount to much.
That's why I was thrilled to see the artwork for the Season 2 DVD's (posted previously in another thread, but here's the link).

You have to remember that The Office has been on the brink of cancellation about 5 times (so I've heard). When the season 1 DVD came out, the show wasn't nearly a popular as it is right now....this show is growing through word-of-mouth, and wonderful actors/creators who care about the program enough to give the audience more.
Sure, the DVD wasn't spectacular, but when it came out, you shouldn't have asked for anything more. The show was a mid-season replacement and only had 6 episodes in the season. What were they supposed to do? They couldn't expand and put info on the DVD that they didn't have.
As for the Universal intros....I'd be surprised if those go away. That's what they do.
Season 2's DVD will be much bigger and better, because they have the footage to make it that way.

I suppose I wasn't too disappointed with the season 1 DVD, because I honestly didn't expect much - since season one was considered the worst "Office" season thus far, and it was on the verge of cancellation at one point anyway.
I actually liked the episode descriptions. I'll agree, that Universal globe thing at the beginning of every episode was really irritating but I am sure Universal made it that way. Sure, the menus and navigation were a little on the shabby side, but what do you expect a show that didn't do very well in it's freshman season?
Just think...season 2 DVDs will be sooo much better!

I own (like many people here) all 3 seasons of THE OFFICE (US) on DVD, as well as the complete OFFICE (UK) on DVD as well.
Out of the 3 US OFFICE DVDs, I still think Season 2 was the best package (just slightly edging Season 3, if for no other reason than the S2 webisodes which S3 lacked). But the S1 DVD ranks far below either of its successors.
I sincerely hope they re-release THE OFFICE SEASON 1 on DVD, this time with better packaging (obviously it can't be two-disc based on 6 episodes), and more background material ... maybe an old interview with OFFICE creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant on why they thought it would be a good idea to license out their franchise across the pond. Key here would be old interview, i.e. what were his thoughts at the time of production, as opposed to in retrospect many years later. Same deal with American creator Greg Daniels.
In fact, here's my laundry list of material I'd want included in THE OFFICE Season 1, Special Edition DVD:
1.) All six episodes, remastered/cleaned up/enhanced
2.) Deleted scenes, possibly previously-unseen ones
3.) Commentaries for every episode (new commentaries may need to be recorded)
4.) Blooper reel
5.) Original screen tests / early interviews for Steve, Rainn, John, Jenna, and B.J.
6.) Interview with Ricky Gervais and/or Stephen Merchant (circa 2001 - 2005)
7.) Interview with Greg Daniels (circa 2003 - 2005)
8.) New packaging that more closely matches the S2 and S3 DVDs
It'd still fit on one single disc, but you'd get more bang for your buck.
What do you think? Should they make THE OFFICE SEASON ONE SPECIAL EDITION DVD?

I was just disappointed to see how short the first season was. One disc??!! I was sad, but seasons two and three definitely made up for it~
