I was amazed that they selected Rappin Granny. There were several talents that were better than her. I lost some respect for the show tonight. I mean, come on, it was obvious that she was put throught because of sympathy, or, maybe kindness. I think that this gives the show a black eye and causes folks to realize it is not about talent but popularity. I for one watch the show becuase of the competition and entertainment. Rappin Granny does not have it. Nise lady but not an entertainer that will be worth 1 million dollars.

I can see her being chosen over most of teh early acts. All the acts before her were pretty lackluster, but come on, you can't tell me that she was better than Nathan Burton?!

I bet you anything this has a lot, if not all, to do with Burton being on lone from the Aladdin Casino in Las Vegas. He's a booked act that is less controlable than Rapping Granny, who likely will do whatever NBC tells her to do.

I agree with you. While I personally liked rappin' granny and felt that she was a very personable person with some talent she certainly was not worth a million. My gosh, she looked more like a pioneer off of a covered wagon. Hey, what about that image? I didn't hear any comments about her attire. Quite frankly, I just don't understand it. What is that line the judges always use about the best of the best? Give me a break. This was a no brainer. It was clearly a sympathy vote!

You and I are very much in the minority here. If there are any other Granny fans out there reading these posts they are probably afraid to post now! biggrin.gif

First welcome to all the newbies to the message boards.....

I didn't much care for the Rappin Granny. Invite her to a party and I'll bet she is a blast. It is not because I don't like rap....I have kids and everytime I get in the car I have to change to radio station, so I heard plenty of rap in my days.

I spent a lot of time flipping through the stations tonite and caught the little hottie R&B artist Chris Brown doing a performance on So You Think You Can Dance. I love that kid...

Sorry to say this because I know you like her but I wonder if they put her through for a totally different reason. To lessen the competition....not sure...strange feeling about how quickly they decided on her.

You of all people will forgive me...
sandmoran
The studio audience reaction may have had some effect on them, Grasshoppa. I know the kids went crazy in my house. But you are very much in the majority here with your opinion, but I feel safe stating mine because there are people like you here that I know will defend my right to state it even though they don't agree with it. I've already been attacked, but nothing I can't handle so far. I wonder where Duckie is?
Grasshoppa
He's online right now......reading/writing Poll about Bianca Ryan

You know I will defend you without doubt...

I didn't get to see the whole show tonight but went back through on the website to listen to some of the performances and watch the others, very surprised to see Rappin Granny put through. Sonia was very good, as was Nathan, Bianca did not sing my favorite style for her, at one time I was huge fan of Janis Joplin, though. Good song, just don't know if it fit her. I am starting to wonder now where the show is going.

Yes you do have the right to your opinion, and if I happen to actually notice an actual attack on that opinion I will even defend you're right to that opinion (even if I don't agree with the opinion itself), the main reason I'd defend your opinion/ right to have one is that you have actually stated it in a pleasant way (as opposed to the way some have chosen to state theirs).

I'm with you! That has to be the dumbest move i've seen them make yet. What were they hearing that the rest of us missed? That was just sad! I'm glad it wasnt my grandma up there!

I love Rappin Granny! It was awesome.

Rappin Granny is cool and she's really fun to watch. But come on, it's more like a side show than REAL talent. She seems like a nice lady but just how far would her act really go. She would most likely be used as a side show attraction for a real rap group and that's about it. If that. Although somewhat entertaining I can't see why the judges would choose her unless being directed by NBC to do so for immeadiate audience appeal. Sorry, but if granny wins this, it will be about the last you will hear of her. JMO

My husband and I watched the same show.....I think. Rappin Granny is not talentd (that is supposed to be the shows intent), sweet, funny, a tad hard to listen to, but not talented. Bianca, no matter what song she sings is truely talented and deserved the judges votes.

O.K I will be voting from Australia since I don't get to watch the show. I can only follow it via the NBC website.

What's the txt thing? That's new to me.

If I vote via mobile phone (Cell phone) SMS. All I need to do is send a blank message to 1-866-ulove-08? (ulove = 85683). Correct?

I think the international code for USA is 0011 1.

My vote probably won't be counted, but I don't care....I'll spam NBC anyway. Atleast I am sending my support for Bianca. smile.gif

GO BIANCA.

I have lost ALL respect for this show. Knowing that there is OTHER talent that isn't getting on the show because they feel like putting these "comedy" acts through (ex. the juggler, leosomething the magnificent, etc. etc.) has completely turned me off from this show.

This show gives America a HORRIBLE name. If this is AMERICA's got talent, it makes America look like it's got NO TALENT AT ALL!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!! Let's see some real talent.

What's really disappointing is that these judges see these acts the day before and then give this disapproving feedback for the acts that DO get on stage. Putting on these CHILDREN and saying their voices aren't MATURE ENOUGH, when I know FOR SURE that there are ADULT singers wanting a spot on that show who can show you what REAL singing talent is ALL ABOUT!!!!

They made a real mistake not putting Jesschelle through. Put her on the show and we'll see what REAL singing is all about!!

I don't see it as a sympathy vote, but I think the judges are under pressure to include a mix of styles in the finals - and it's not just about the act, it's also about race and demographics. Rappin Granny is a novelty act that obviously began on a dare with her family, but does not reflect any talent that I can appreciate. Maybe I'm just too white, but I could not understand her, and her "dancing" reminded me of Vickie Lawrence doing "MaMa" . It's like a joke that's gone too far. Or did the judges fear the studio audience's backlash if they did not approve of her? I cannot see her winning a million dollars - I'm stunned that she was even called to the stage tonite.
I think Bianca Ryan is an amazing talent that will have a fabulous future regardless of the results of this show. Please - she's still just 11 - I'd hate to see her flame out before she's 20. I thought her choice of material tonight did not show her talent to maximum advantage - she seemed to be doing a Janis Joplin impersonation. A little too hard core for an 11 year old. (But I do admit that there are very few people in the world that can even come close to a JJ impersonation!) Would be great if she could take an old standard and sing an arrangement that was more original and suited to her range instead of just impersonating other power ballad divas. Still think she's the best act in the entire competition - cant believe the judges wanted to guarantee Granny a spot in the finals and left Bianca to sink or swim...
