I have to admit, when I first saw rappin granny I thought it would be an amusing little novelty act and that would be it. But I was wrong.... it was SOOO much worse than that. I was so very happy when her act was over because I was sure I'd never have to endure it again. And then, the judges apparently met over a crack pipe and forced her on the nation one more time. At least the old lady in The Wedding Singer could be understood. Bianca still should have gone, but if they REALLY didn't like her song choice THAT much, how about the magician they loved so much? He was at least amusing.

I do like her, and I think two other people posted that they liked her, and dozens, it seems, hate her. So you are in the vast majority. I, on the other hand, just got accused on another thread of being on crack. But since I believe that everyone, including myself, should be allowed to state an opinion, I will continue to state it and open myself up for even more insults.

I think she is okayy, but I do not believe she is worth a million dollars.. I feel like that second magician or Bianca should win. I was blown away tonight by that magician, that was amazing, and Bianca did not have the best performance but she is still really good. NBC's got a lotta work if they want to impress people with this show... Just my opinion.

I think a lot of people are a tad upset about the judging and are venting. Liking Rapping Granny makes you an easy target. Take it with a grain of salt.

That made me laugh out loud.
I agree. Well, she was OK, but certainly no million dollar prospect.
It's a little ridiculous. I wonder what they could be thinking...
If it was planned ahead or what...
Or at least planned if Bianca screwed up.

I loved the RAPPIN GRANNY!!!
She can rap, she has charisma with a capital 'C', and she very VERY entertaining! She's one of a kind...a RAPPING GRANDMA!!
IF she steps up her game in the FINALS, I can see her winning the WHOLE thing!
Remember what Piers said last week....this is NOT American Idol, this is AMERICA'S GOT TALENT!
My rating for this week....
10) Ten13Concept
9) Caitlyn Taylor Love
8) Sonia Lee
7) Elliot Zimet
6) Kenny Shelton
5) Trey Knight's Stilt World
4) Team Acrodunk
3) Bianca Ryan
2) Nathan Burton
1) Rappin' Grandma
I think it's amongst 3 for the second spot....Team Acrodunk, Bianca Ryan, and Nathan Burton. I suspect it'll be Team Acrodunk or Nathan Burton....we need DIVERSITY in the finals, and we've got enough singing acts...and I think America will agree with me.

I, for one, thought that was the dumbest thing i've seen yet. to vote for the dumbest act to go through and leave the 2 better ones for the peoples vote. This is the dumbest show on television. I tried to give it a chance but it gets worse everytime. You have a has been actor, a has been singer and who the **** cares about the british guy! It is plain to see now, they have no idea of what talent is. A rapping granny, come on!!

No, can't say that I do like her act.
I didn't care for the act when it made it into the semi-finals but I did recognize that she entertained the live audience and deserved the chance she apparently earned. But that is as far as I can give her. The judges seem to think that the reaction of the audience reinforced her "talent" but they seemed to ignore the audience reaction to the magician who pulled one over on them by popping out from behindtheir chairs.
Audience involvement or reaction does not equal talent...heck....99% of Americans will stop in their tracks at a car accident.
To be considered to have talent that justifiably beats others you must be able to hold more than the audiences attention. Watching a 70+ year old women shake her hips in a frilly dress will make almost anyone smile. Can she rhyme? sure....but that doesn't compare to at least 5 other talents exhibited tonight. Should she have been judged better than....
1) a group of men (yes at least one was over 40) who exhibited physical agility, balance, grace, speed, coordination doing things with a basketball that most people have never seen or even thought possible?
2) an illusionist who was so successful at diverting the judges attention, he jumped out from behind them
3) an 11 year old girl who can sing a song that many adult vocalists are fearful of attempting. Whether the style of the song fit her, or we as audience liked it, the fact remains she sang it well. We may have liked her to do something else and be extraordinary, but that doesn't negate the fact she was still great at what she did. If you closed your eyes when she sang that song, would you be able to tell she was an 11 year old redheaded girl?
4) a Rock violinist (whom I did not actually care for) but whose skill with the instrument allowed her to create music from chaos, whom despite her erratic stage presence produced intense music that could almost be physically experienced, who despite a back up band that almost totally overwhelmed her song, was able to generate enough sound by sheer force of will (and broken bow strings) to create music?
5) this space could either be filled by the juggler (who used fire), the magician (who used live birds) or the stilt dancers (who choreographed dance in sync with each other 5 feet above the world).
....my answer is absolutely NO!
My personal belief as to which of the above were the most talent I will keep to myself, the purpose of this post was to point out that the talent listed in 1-5 were all unique, difficult to copy and skillfully executed. An elderly women who rhymes to music while amusing can be replicated anywhere (some with a more pleasant voice).
Please do not think I am attacking this women, her zest for life is intoxicating, her love and pride for her family heart warming, but her talent was slightly more than ordinary when compared to the acts she was pitted against in this competition.

Oh, really? Have you personally seen another elderly lady rap like she does?
Enough with the wanna be kid singers, acrobatics acts, jugglers, and magicians...those acts CAN truly be duplicated and have been throughout the competition.....but not the RAPPIN GRANNY! She's ONE OF A KIND!

for somebody thats saying that not another singing act should go through i find your list interesting isn't rappin a form a singing the judges got it wrong based on performance nathan burton should have been the judges choice based on pure talent bianca or the violin player while i did'nt like the performance she can really play the rappin grannie is a novelty act and not a very talented one her voice is terrible and not even original she started the song with a rip off of the rapper mc hammer who stared is act with it's hammer time back in the 80's she can ryhme not rap she's quaint not charismatic and i feel the only reason the judges put her through is because the knew there was no way america would vote her in

There's a big difference between liking a contestant and believing a contestant has talent.
I "like" Rapping Granny, but she has absolutely no business in the finals. Pierce, David and Brandy, I hope your kids all fall in love and have kids with people that look just like you.

Now, now....getting personal?
Actually I have seen what Rappin Granny does (rhyme, speak in rythm with music, dance around) in many other instances by older adults - they just didn't call it "rappin". Truth be told, if that were all it took to be a successful rapper there would be allot more artists with successful songs. Rappin as an art form, is very complex and when done well...awe-inspiring. In the end you just can't get the tune out of your head. None of which can be said for Rapping Granny.
I started to tell you where I have seen "rhyming, speaking in rythm with music and dancing of older adults", but changed my mind when I read it, because it sounded like I was being disrespectful to this women, so you'll have to take my word for it.
As I said earlier, I recognize that Rappin Granny is special. I can agree with you that she is one of a kind (see my recognition of her in my last paragraph) but I don't believe her courage or stage presence raise her act above those she competed against.

Why do you have a bias against 'novelty acts' winning $1 million?
Again, I'm gonna repeat....this is NOT American IDOL....this is America's Got Talent....and in my opinion, the rappin' granny has got TALENT and CHARISMA!
I wanted the ventriloquist guy and the lawnmower/bowling ball guy in the finals, but the judges and America disagreed. I just don't want to see 8 singing/band acts in the finals...granny doesn't sing or play an instrument....she RAPS and DANCES!

Now we are on the same page. The ventriloquist - Kevin Johnson was one of my favorites!
There is something about how this whole thing is organized that bothers me.
Yes, the judges should whittle down the 500 to a manageable group, but after that it is supposed to be America. All of a sudden they get to chuck 5 people they already passed through. Not really fair, but hey its their dime so to speak.
Next they put 10 people together and allow only 2. Now if that isn't bad enough, your chance of being one of the 2 is dramatically impacted upon by whether you are in a "highly" talented group or one full of "one-hit-wonders" [no disrespect intended]. It is possible that by being in a later group Kevin Johnson could have made it through (beat the piano player?).
Then to top it off, the "judges" pick 1 of the 2. If they had a limited number of slots in order to have the show end within the season, they should have used more discretion in who they passed through initially. It almost borders on cruel.

If she was younger, I'd agree it would be no great deal. Just like Taylor Ware and Bianca Ryan...if they were older or in their 20s, noone would care as much.
