Full Version: Has Anyone Been to a Live Taping of AGT?
NBC > Reality > America's Got Talent

Just curious as to how many posters have actually been to one of the live tapings of the show? My 8 yr old niece and some of her beauty pageant friends and their parents attended last week's last semi-final taping of the show. She told me that the performers get up to 3 times to perform their act on tv if they mess up. The producers later pick the best one of the three to air for that night's broadcast. She did confirm that alot of the audience reaction is staged as they were all told what to do when a act performs. She also said that parents who had young children in the audience were not told in advance to get their kids out of the audience if they did not want them to see Leonid perform. All they could do was just close their eyes if they didn't want to see him.

i went to the first taping...no acts were allowed to have a take 2 let alone 3...the only reason an act would have been allowed to do that if there were a set malfunction...otherwise, what you see is what you got...if an act messed up, an act messed up...

Through personal experience I can say that with every live show the audience is coached and prompted for laughter, applause, etc. In short, if audience response is waning or nil because the show sux, ya feel strong-armed into giving the impression it's good.

Impossible. If the other two were worse, at least one of them couldn't perform at all. Think. dry.gif

Anyways, I thought it was obvious that the audience was fake, or at least half fake... In one of the portions that aired, you heard someone telling the audience to applaud. >_> They were probably told to applaud/boo when they felt it was needed...

Since the audience is coached on what to do, why does the stupid cameraman have to keep showing their reactions? laugh.gif

Not surprised at all. TV is all about lies. "Reality TV?" No such thing.

Survivor = Actors (Sorry to ruin anyone's dream) If you're having a private conversation with someone and suddenly 5 camera crew members hover over you, you're not gonna glance over? Com'on, it's a natural reaction!

I thought the same thing on the old Bachelor/Bachelorette shows, some of the moments between the couples makes you wonder how anyone who is not an actor or someone used to being in a camera situation could do some of things they do without cracking up laughing or being totally embarrassed.

Exactly! And just telling someone not to look at the cameras isn't enough! Even trained actors glance over once in a while and have to do another take because of it. If you're talking to someone and a third person makes a movement, you'll glance over.

If you believe everything you see on TV, you need a reality check.

I've seen interviews where Survivor contestants say that the cameras are so constantly around them that after the first 24 hours, they pretty much don't even notice the cameras any more.

Once again.......you believe everything you see on TV? I've worked for several TV stations....I've been apart of some pretty big lies before. Next you're gonna say that the Blair Witch Project was real!
RockyHorror
Aw, man! The Brady Bunch didn't really share one bathroom with no toilet? I always wondered how they managed, but I guess I know now.

The Apollo moon landings were faked.

Yes they were....sound studio in Arizona. Speed up the footage and it's just an ATV driving in the sand, and a guy jumping along the ground.

Why do you think they kept trying to go back afterwards but were unsuccessful? Because they had yet to secceed in the first place.

Wow, this thread is getting way too conspiracy theory style now! lol

Conspiracies make life interesting, however I don't really believe any. Like the thing about the twin towers. Or the people who say the Holocaust never happened.

But, as usual, I'm just spreading the joy around smile.gif
