how do the eating challenges work?
hello, ive recently started watching fear factor (im in the uk), and ive been wondering how the eating challenges work. When they eat raw rat, or road kill (uncooked) covered in flies and stuff, wouldn't that make people ill (in my opionon the idea would make me ill but i mean from a food posining point of view0

Basically, it's who can eat it, keep it down, and do it the fastest. If you vomit at any time that the clock is still ticking, you're out.

I think they boil most of the meats that the constestants eat and just make it look like it's raw. They test the bugs for toxicity to make sure they're safe to eat. The stunt testers also try eating the stuff before it makes it on the show.

Fear Factor - Road Kill Cafe, Season 5 - eating animal organs
Hey guys, I'm from Australia and tonight they aired an episode of fear factor from season 5, all female. The girls had to eat animal guts with maggots all through it, apparently it was Road Kill! What i'd like to know is, how "real" are stunts like this? I mean do the contestants really eat what they say they are eating? The reason I ask this is because I would imagine that anyone who ate such a thing could or WOULD get seriously ill and could even die.
So, how authentic are these stunts? Any ideas or opinions welcome.
Thanks!

Hi viks! I'm in Australia and that same episode was shown tonight, the one with the girls eating the "road kill" I couldn't believe it myself and actually started a new topic about it too right before I found your one! SORRY!
I was thinking the same thing though, could they seriously eat something like that without getting really sick?? When the second girl picked up the first piece she dropped it and said "Omg it's cold"! So my first thought was that it had been kept fresh somehow possibly being frozen and defrosted, hence why it was cold, so maybe it wasn't off. Who knows! I wouldn't eat it anyway, whether it was fresh or not!
