Full Version: Office International Fan Conferance
NBC > Primetime > The Office > The Paper Convention
BestestShow
I was sitting in the theatre last night all ready to watch "Little Miss Sunshine" when the thought crossed my mind..."I'm an obsessed Office fan." I would always make fun of those Star Wars or Lord of the Rings fans who would travel miles to go to a fan conferance.

So that got me thinking. How impossible is it to have an "Office Conferance."

You know with a room playing each Office epsiode on a big screen. Vendors with Shirts, collectors buttons, bumper stickers and clothing. Maybe bring out the actors etc...

A panel discussion with the creators, directors, writers. A "Behind the Scenes" room highlighting what really goes on on the set etc...

Oh! And a place to buy authentic office supplies off the set.

Can this work? How does one start one etc...'cause frankly I'd love to go to one.

How about the rest of you fans? What do ya think?

That sounds like it would be soooo cool, especially if they got the actors and writers to come to it! I agree with you that if Star Wars can have a big convention, why can't we? Some of the people on this board are at LEAST as obsessed with The Office and some Star Wars nerds are. I would really want to go, but there's probably not much of a chance of this actually happening. Mostly because it's a TV show that's only been on for 2 seasons, and it probably wouldn't have that big of a turnout.

Yeah your probably right.

But we can keep hoping that the ratings will keep on jumping and the fan base growqing which equals more seasons and a "maybe chance" of this happening.

I think it would be loads of fun.

I know I'd be there!

I am flying to Scranton Sept. 22-24. I have not been promoting the venture like I had planned. The beginning of the school year is very time consuming. Also, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with cancer 6 weeks ago, it was advanced. She passed away yesterday morning. Making bigger plans has not been a priority. I will be there and maybe some locals can come by. I have a MySpace that I was going to use to post a detail of events. All I can say for sure is that I will be there. I am sorry I have not been able to spend more time planning this trip.
I have the email addres pilgrimagetoscranton@yahoo.com if anyone would like to contact me on this topic.

I probobly wouldn't go all the way from Florida to Scranton or New York for a fan conference. It would take all of the actors and writers to be there for me to consider going. I was going to go by Scranton on my trip to Philly but I ran out of time. I guess there might be a lot of people that would go espescially in the Northeast. I really underestimate the Office fanbase.

so sorry about your friend. a week ago my friend and i went on a walk for cancer. they had paper bags with candles in them that people bought in honor or memory of a relative or friend that had cancer. at nine o'clock they lit all the candles and it was really sad to see how many peoples lives have been effected by cancer.

Thank you for your condolences. I really didn't want to mention that situation here. The message board has been one place I can be and not think about it. I do feel badly that I have not given the proper attention to my upcoming plans.

I will let you know what hotel I will be staying in. There is a list of places that I would like to go to on Saturday & possibly Sunday. Of course I will be ending the day at Poor Richards for a trivia game & other fun.

When I have a more specific itinerary I will post it!

I'm going to Philly next August (actually staying in Valley Forge) - is that anywhere near Scranton? I'm too tired to go look for an atlas...

If I lived near Scranton we could have an Office Trivia Fest while we watch the Office at Poor Richard's.

I just got married last month, and it was a tossup for our honeymoon between Poor Richard's and Mexico.

...She won.

Is there really a Poor Richards in Scranton of Lackawanna County, PA?
