Pleased to hear that EITS is getting some major air time in the first episode. A somewhat unknown music talent that I feel everyone should check out. Explosions in the Sky.

I never heard of them before watching the pilot a few months ago. I didn't see the FNL movie so I didn't know anything about the soundtrack.

But I instantly loved their music once I heard more. They are amazing! Hope we hear more of their stuff during the season

Is this the intrumental tune that is the background song for many parts of the show? I really need to get a hold of this song. Can anyone help me out as to what it is and who sings it?

What is the moody, reflective, instrumental tune that plays as the show gets started and at other times during the show? Who is the artist? It's kind of a somber piece but I've fallen in love with it.

The track used throughout the pilot episode was "Remember Me As A Time Of Day" by "Explosions in the Sky" off their CD "How Strange, Innocence". If you're talking about the theme/intro song, it's called "Remember the Name" by "Fort Minor".

As a side note, I recently (a few months ago) became addicted to Explosions in the Sky, and it's literally all I listen to now. Their album The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place is the greatest thing I have ever heard, and they have a new album coming out soon. The only reason I started watching Friday Night Lights was because I heard their music. I sincerely hope they use more of their music in future episodes, especially since it seems to be the hot topic on the boards and the blog.

For other lovers of Explosions in the Sky, I recommend you check out a band called The Album Leaf. You will not be disappointed.

If you liked the song playing in the musical montage at the end of tonight's episode- Devil's Town- check out Tony Lucca. He performed the song and is an amazing singer/songwriter.

Tony Lucca sang that song with Terra Naomi (www.terranaomi.com), it was awesome!

Song is "Black Betty" that much is true, but it's actually performed by Ram Jam - a 1970s classic (and a cover of a Leadbelly song to boot.)

Also on the two recent collection albums "Discover Covered" (which also features a much better cover of "Devil's Town" by Bright Eyes) and "Welcome to My World."

Daniel's a Texas native, so it's fitting to have his music here, even if covered by someone else.

Other songs that were featured in last night's episode include:

"Wolf Like Me" - TV on the Radio (football practice)
"Your Hand in Mine" - Explosions in the Sky (Hospital scene, coach Taylor and Jason)
"Idlewild Blues" - Outkast (Tyra hits on Smash)
CTX
What was the name of the song being played as the coach tells the team that Street is paralyized? I can hear the guy singing "Forever means until the day I leave," but I still can't find out what it is.
Thanks
Momir
So where can I get the song by Tony Lucca? It's not on his website, or Limewire, or iTunes. Any idea where I might find it?

fnl06fan
The last ten minutes tonight was awesome and then they played the Pearl Jam song--after much research--I knew it was from their 2006 release--the song is "Comeback" and the scenes with Lyla and Tim combined with this awesome song brought tears to my eyes. It's not Yellow ledbetter...good guess though...
al0931
My bad, I thought it was old school PJ. Guess I will have to find the crappy 2006 CD afterall.

If you like old school Pearl jam...you'll love their new release...other than Vs. and the first CD...this is one of the my favorite PJ CD's ever.....it rocks and it has strong ballads like Comeback...honest al0931, I think after a couple of listen...you'll love it...
al0931
I did buy it when it first came out but it's now somewhere hidden in the console of my car. The only songs I originally liked were World Wide Suicide and now that you mentioned it Comeback. Guess I might have to retrieve it just for that track...great song!

The song when Lyla skips the hospital, says bye to her mom and starts jogging. The lryics go, if I am hearing them correctly,

On this basis part of me
it fills me up and swallows me
my emotions wrapped in vines
reaching for the suns that shine
oh missy I adore you
but sometimes I seem to ignore you
thats because I don't deserve you
I'm your lover (couldn't understand)

All this time I've wanted you to know
That if you're ever... don't know the rest of the lyrics

It sounds like Jack White is singing. I've searched high and low to find this song, but I can not! If anyone knows it please post.

Great Show! I'm from a Texas town of 14,000 and this is a lot like how high school was!

Hey, i'm here for the same reason. Although i'm thinking it sounds a lot like Carie Akre from "Hammerbox", then later "Goodness". I'm about 75% sure, but it may be a brand new song...?

Hope someone else heard it and can help!

It seems there are a good number of people who are looking for a specific song from a FNL episode. Would it be possible for someone affiliated with the show to provide its fans with a play list episode guide? More often than not, I've found the music selections on this show to be excellent, but would like to know more about what I've heard.

Anyone agree?

Heartless Bastards - All This Time

on of my favorite bands for the past three years.

Okay, FNL is a good solid show, but as a resident of Texas for 30 years, I can say that the music on FNL is not really right for the setting. Sure some rock is okay, and I love rock, but unlike more other states (and I know because I didn't grow up here), Texas has its own sound and a lot of it staddles the line between country and rock, but with a unique Texas perspective. Performers like Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen, Jack Ingram, Bob Schneider, Slaid Cleaves. Hey, I almost forgot Los Lonely Boys! There performers aren't rock and they certainly aren't Nashville. Whoever's selecting the music needs to do a bit better job if you want viewers to get a feel of Texas in the show. Sure the atmospheric stuff is good from time to time, but sometimes I think this show could be set anywhere.

If anyone is interested to see whats I mean, here is a link to a shiner Tx top 10 Texas selections.

Hey all,

I was flipping channels and came across FNL. I had never watched it before, but I love football, so I lingered for a little bit. Then on came this song. It was during the time the QB who ended up kicked off the team was running for a TD and the coaches were yelling at him to pass to the guy open in the flat. The song keeps repeating "I don't care who I hurt." Anyways, that loop is from a band called "Power of Zeus" and it happens to be my best friend's Dad's band. I think the album with the song called "It Couldn't Be Me" was released in the mid to late '60's or early '70's. Does anyone know the name of the band that is sampling this song? If someone could help me out that would be a great help. Thanks!

what is the the song that voodoo changes it to at the party???????
