'Devil Wears Prada' was pretty good. It was much better then I thought it would be.

I just watched 'Scotland PA'. I loved it! I'm really into these wacky unknown films.

laugh.gif *Disclaimer* I'm not saying it was the best movie I'd seen or anything- it was watchable though. wink.gif I wouldn't have bought it on my own.

I'll still rent it. gives me something new to watch.

Well, I guess I can write up a semi-official review of the Thin Man movies. In one word- awesome. Everyone should watch them. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with 5 sequels that still really good from movie to movie (Not counting Harry Potter tongue.gif ) I'll put them in order from best to not as good as the first:

The Thin Man
After the Thin Man
The Thin Man Goes Home
Shadow of the Thin Man
Another Thin Man
Song of the Thin Man

I've already watched a couple of them more than once. I'm glad that I bought all of them instead of renting them. $45 bucks spent wisely wink.gif

What did you all think of "For Your Consideration"? I am a huge Christopher Guest mockumentary fan, but I heard this movie wasn't very good.

On a side note, I saw an interview with Ricky Gervais and Christopher Guest, and Gervais told him that his mockumentaries were really the inspiration for The Office.
So there you go, folks. We have Spinal Tap to thank for Dwight Schrute!
Fancy_New_Becca
Oh i want to rent for your consideration. I ended up with saw 3..made the wrong choice. Oh well. going back later this week. have to get that, rome on dvd and the ed gein movie.

300!

I saw 300 yesterday and it was awesome! It's story had the heart and soul of Gladiator, the armor and and creatures reminded me of Lord of the Rings and the style in which it was filmed smacked of the Matrix. Blood was endlessly splattering and there were too many limbs flying off for me to count. There were horrendously disgusting vile creatures that could pull swords out of their face. This movie is not for the squeamish, but it seriously rocked!

The acting was superb, my favorites were the Queen played by Lena Headey (my new uber-MILF!!!!!!) and Rodrigo Santoro who played Xerxes. I think Rodrigo almost stole the show, his portrayal of the conquerer of the world was incredible and deep.

Anyway, my movie reviewing skills are not very good, I just wanted everyone to know that this movie was great and a must see if you can handle the it's content.

Might not have that problem with 300, it's only 117 minutes. Yesterday I left work just before 11:00AM (shhhhhhhh, don't tell...), saw the movie and was back at my desk by 1 PM. I had to make up that additional hour of course... unsure.gif

Yes, it was really, Really, REALLY good! There was a ton of blood splattering everywhere, arms, legs, torso's and heads lobbed off and really nasty gross looking part human monster things. I'm not a fan of gore and the above scenes were not why I loved the movie. The story was good, the acting was great (for the most part), the armor and costumes were awesome (loved Xerxes) and I liked the way it was filmed. Most of it is in that Matrix style slow down, speed up technique so you can see all the excruciating detail...
JAM4EVA_1
I watched For Your Consideration! I thought it was really funny. Especially the part where the guy rating John Krasinski's movie is like, "I swear, sometimes I think someone took a frying pan to your head." Hahaha.

Okay, here's what the back of the picture says where he says Heddy Lamar begged him to marry her. (Heddy's website hasn't responded as to who it is).

Broadway bright lights has beg me to make personally appearance on the stage
movies have pested (pestered?) me so much to sign a contract.
Heddy Lamar begged me to marry her but just ain't one of those safe job guys.
My dad name King Kong, I am King Kong Jr. Meet me in any zoo.
Knobby Joe
Stephen "Popeye" unreadable surname
Be True Robert L. Landrum

I'll keep you posted about a response from her.

Man of the Year:

Hmm...the definition of OK fits this movie perfectly. Not sure what else to say about it they could have used some of the cast more effectively they had in it more if they geared it to be more of a comedy but it became a drama of sorts during the 2nd half of the movie.

Verdict: 6 out of 10

Could have been so much more but still worth renting.

The Queen:

My 1st thought after the movie ended was why did this movie not win more Oscars. Michael Sheen who plays Tony Blair got robbed in that he did not even get a nomination for this role he was just great heck I think he not only should have been nominated but should have gotten an Oscar.

Of course Helen Mirren's role of the Queen lived up too all the hype and it was great and she earned that Oscar to say the least.

The storyline and plot of this movie is rock solid it really is just what a great film!

Verdict: 8.5 out of 10

300:

Can anyone say overrated? I can OVERRATED

In a nutshell anytime the movie tried to have a storyline is sucked.

The narrator on this movie was god awful I mean I have not heard narration that bad since watching a freaking biology video in H.S.

Yes I guess the battles are good but this movie has rental all over it they should put it on their posters.

The ending too it was pretty good though I really liked the speech and all so that was pretty good but overall I guess this was just not a movie for me.

Verdict: 6 out of 10

I've been watching Borat in installments - wow. It's even funnier and more uncomfortable than I had imagined. I think it's a really good movie for an Office fan - cringing while laughing, and feeling guilty for doing both, and worrying that you do those stupid things too.

Exactly, there was a lot of similarity in the humor. I just don't want to see Michael Scott in a banana thong. ohmy.gif

Good to know I'm not missing out on much. I've heard either this movie was really good or pretty bad. I probably won't end up seeing it.

Netflix movie of the day: The Great Ziegfeld. 9/10. It was a wonderful movie- I could probably watch it again before I send it back. The musical numbers in it were spectacular!

Important point. Now Dwight, on the other hand, was designed for banana-thong excellence.

I am just about to re-watch my new copy of "Stranger than Fiction." Now that the tax he!! is behind me, I can fully enjoy this again.

Question: how did Will Ferrell move from this splendid role to that stupid ice-skating movie with John Heder? That looks like the worst kind of dreck...
