*Crossing my fingers that this is true.* I just found a list on amazon.com of classic Warner Brothers movies to be released on DVD in 2007. Some of the ones I'm most excited about are:
Babes in Arms, Babes on Broadway, Girl Crazy and Strike Up the Band
Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland Collection Neptune's Daughter, Dangerous When Wet, Million Dollar Mermaid, Bathing Beauty, On an Island With You and Thrill of a Romance
Esther Williams Collection Red Dust, Bombshell, Hold Your Man (1933), Girl From Missouri, Personal Property, Riff Raff (1935), Saratoga and Suzy
Jean Harlow CollectionAnd the one I'm most excited for?
Myrna Loy & William Powell Collection!

Manhattan Melodrama, Evelyn Prentice, Double Wedding (1937), I Love You Again and Love Crazy- I will definitely buy this one first!!
I've got to start saving my money now! Here's the
original link I found this on- there's a few more sets on there that I didn't mention

Why?
They are SLOW and in Black/White.
There are only 3 things I will watch in B/W Andy, Lucy, and the movie To Kill a Mockingbird
They are just boring too me...They were made in a different time when people had different tates for comedy and drama etc.
Why I love watching movies so much is because I can feel like I can relate to what's going on in some way or it takes me to another place for a couple hours.
Black and White or older films just don't do it for me.

You obviously haven't seen The Thin Man then. The dialogue was way ahead of it's time. It actually took me a couple times watching it to catch every joke. If you don't laugh at that movie, well something must be wrong

When I was 17 I had some of my friends over to watch old movies. We watched a couple of classic horror films then switched over to tv and watched 'The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer'.
I commented many times (ok, over and over again) how attractive I thought the young female lead was. After some prodding from my friends, I even suggested some of the things I would like to do with this young actress.
I was floored when the credits rolled and I saw who I had been calling 'hot'. I got teased mercilessly by everyone for about a year - "Guess who Mark thinks is really really sexy!".

I really would like to buy Casino Royale, I loved that movie.
I don't know if I can wait until November 2008 until the next one comes out.
Well, this year is going to be a record breaking year, in terms of box office money because of all the sequels coming out. POTC 3 anyone? Spidey 3, Bourne 3, Ocean's 13, Shrek 3....

I'm going to boldly put this out there- you can't be a movie buff without at least seeing the classics. And, there should to be one or two you like out of them, it won't be that hard to find!
I don't expect everybody to know who Howard Hawks, John Ford, or Frank Capra are by name. But, you should have seen at least
one of their movies.

POTC 2 beginning had no continuity to it is all. IMO. I knew they were to be 'married' but I think the beginning just turned me off. Mind you I have seen it about 10 times but I fastforward the beginning for a few minutes.
My grandmother learned English from old B&W movies when she moved here in 1950 and her love for America grew from there. I do like B&W movies, i have started buying some based on some 'board reviewers'

(BW) and I have been DVR'ing some from TCM-turner classic movies as well. My two girls will sit and watch B&W movies and they like them! This I dont mind as most of the B&W's are not as risque as movies today for adults.

If you've seen a majority of classics, there should be one or two you could like. I don't think it's possible to "not like" every movie made before 1965.
But, if that's the case, I wouldn't call you a movie buff. I wouldn't call
anybody with that criteria a movie buff.

Silence of the Lambs (a bit overrated, Manhunter was better. But that's beside the point)

Yes, I completely agree. I am just glad that my american history teacher showed it to us in 9th grade, opened a whole new world of movies. We watched Mr. Smith goes to Washington the same year, after seeing those I thought that I could actually sit though a black and white movie and enjoy it.

Okay - guilty confession time: Since I purchased it the other day, I have watched The Holiday four times.
For some reason, the romance of this movie totally grabs me - and I am even delighted with Cameron Diaz (an actor I normally find fairly repellent). Jude Law is another thing altogether - I have never liked him in a role before (I found him kind of creepy and unctious), but there is something about him in this role that I just love. He has transcended into the Cary Grant-esque performance, and that is the highest compliement I can pay.
I wish I spent as much time improving my mind, or reading serious and important books, as I do watching romantic comedies!
