^^ really? i quite liked Disturbia (though I'm not really into scary movies).

I just saw Notting Hill for the first time last night. Loved Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts was ok, and i adored the character "Spike."

Okay bubble, (and anyone else who's interested), I finished North and South. . . . . hands down the best movie/series the BBC has done since Persuasion. The cast was brilliant, and the story was handled deftly and with a great deal of respect to the message Gaskill originally intended. I think Richard Armitage, (John Thornton), gave a certain Mr. Darcy a run for his money in the dark, brooding category. tongue.gif

So glad you liked it biggrin.gif I still need to buy it. I agree with you that it was the best BBC series I've seen so far- and the casting was brilliant! Thornton definitely gives Mr. Darcy a run for his money laugh.gif Now I want to see it again! Do you understand why I watched all 4 hours of it in 1 day now? laugh.gif

Here's the IMDB page for it: North and South (2004) (When it scores a 9.3 on IMDB- you know it's good!)

My nephew is watching his copy of happy feet. I've never seen it and I don't understand what the story is supposed to be about. Bleak house is on again on masterpiece theater if anyone missed the first time it came on

I've never seen the entire series, although I've seen enough to want to see more of Gillian Anderson, so it's still on my list. I'll check the schedule.

I've already told my husband that he can have some Daddy-Daughter time with our little girl and go take her to see Shrek 3. She loves Shrek, and at first I didn't want to encourage it, but now I will encourage just about anything that will get her out of her Disney Princess fantasy for two minutes. dry.gif

I saw Hot Fuzz on Saturday Night. I have to be honest and say that I wasn't too fond of the movie. It definitely isn't on my "Freakin Hate" list but its for sure not a desert island movie...which made me sad because Shaun of the Dead is. I absolutely LOVED Shaun of the Dead. I thought it was such a clever movie. It was a good play on Zombie movies but specifically to Dawn of the Dead. I felt like Hot Fuzz tried really really hard..too hard..to the point of being a wee bit annoying. I enjoyed the death scenes and the gore..hehehe and I was happy to see that they have ANOTHER movie coming out this year "Run Fatboy Run" that I will run to the theatres to see. =P

On a scale of 1-10...Hot Fuzz gets a 6.5 from me.

On a lighter note...I can't WAIT for Spiderman 3 (like everyone else..hehe)

but more importantly...

I CANT WAIT FOR TRANSFORMERS!!!
I am most definitely a child of the 80's. My big brother and I were SOOOOO into Transformers (yeah, i was a bit of a Tomboy..haha)..I bawled my eyes out when Optimus Prime died in the '86 movie...I remember gasping for air from crying so hard. *sniffle* sad.gif I was skeptical about the "Live Action" concept at first..but after seeing previews and watching the interesting content on Yahoo! Movies...I'm in it to win it!

Backtracking here, but for anyone who watches American Idol:

When Ryan Seacrest asked Antonio Banderas when it was coming out he said, "Uhm... june."

THis was about a half a second after they showed the movie poster, which, in big letters, said "MAY 18TH!"

Cracked me up. Ohhh, the simple things iin life. laugh.gif

I'm really disappointed you said that about Hot Fuzz. I was planning on seeing it this past weekend, but I never made it. I too LOVE Shaun Of The Dead. For all the reasons you mentioned. I've always loved Zombie movies. I'll probably still see Hot Fuzz, but at least now I know not to have my hopes too high.

Secondly, I can't wait for Transformers either. I was definitely an 80's tomboy. My mom may have been a little concerned when all I wanted were Transformers, and not Barbies. Optimus Prime was the best. I recently rented the original cartoons, and it took me straight back. The funny thing was I actually remembered some of the episodes after not seeing them for like 20 years.

I remember there was an episode where the Transformers were being attacked by Spores..my brother used to scare the b'jesus outta me by telling me that there were spores in my bed. I slept with mommy and daddy for like a week. LOL laugh.gif

Before I rented the cartoons again, all I could remember about the show was:
1. I loved The Transformers / 2. The song... "Transformers...more than meets the eye" / 3. I had very lengthy arguments (for an elementary school kid) debating how much better Transformers were than GoBots
Anyway, I saw the trailer and the movie looks pretty good. I just hope they don't ruin it.

On another note, if anyone out there likes quirky movies, I recently rented two that I thought were great: "Everything is Illuminated" & "The Science of Sleep"

It seems that the BBC can do no wrong with their mini-series tongue.gif (I'm sure there are some bad ones out there- but none that I've seen) Tonight I watched The Impressionists. It was very good. I'm really into Impressionist art- so to see the painters lives played out was great. The whole series is based on real events that happened- which made it seem even better. If your not a big fan of art, I'm not really sure how much you would enjoy it. But I loved it. Plus Richard Armitage, who plays John Thornton in the "North & South" mini-series is in it. He plays Monet.

I just had the pleasure of seeing Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In The West on the big screen the other night and it was amazing. I've never seen one of his films before. Is anyone here a fan? Would you recommend any of his other films? I think OUATITW is probably one of the best westerns I've ever seen and I'm not usually a huge fan of the genre.
In addition, I've also recently seen The Last King of Scotland; it was quite good.
