^ That's with Audrey Hepburn right? As much as I adore her, I just cannot sit through a film with that length. If I did, I'd watch an hour, than take a break & so on.

Yeah- I wasn't sure I could make it at first- but it's a great movie.

I recently watched "Arsenic & Old Lace". Most people wrote off Cary Grant as too hyperactive for his role but I thought that aspect of his acting was perfect! I mean, Mortimer was this guy bent on going fully insane with all those insane events taking place, with his crazy aunts(???) & a brother who looks like Frankenstein. Than there's his wife who can even get his full attention without being brushed off. And of course, the poor taxi driver laugh.gif. Despite all those absurdities the film was hilarious & classic. I just laugh so hard whenever Cary makes that "mmm" or "hmm" sound, like he's done in other films. Another memorable scene is where he chases that guy out of the house, the one who wants to buy it. "Do you want to be poisoned?" "Do you want to die?" And to top it all off, he trips over the chair & yet he's the one with the good intentions. Absolutely hilarious.

laugh.gif laugh.gif I love Arsenic and Old Lace. That movie makes me laugh so hard every time I see it laugh.gif

I just got back from seeing 1408 - didn't like it. I was disappointed especially since I read the short story by Stephen King on the plane last week - which was intriguing. Also, I'm a big fan of John Cusack too and wanted it to be good. It just fell short - and the ending was doo doo.

I just got back from Evan Almighty and really liked it. It starts out really funny, but then gets more serious later on - which I thought was fine.

Alright- so I went to the movie store and ended up with 3 movies. I just went in to get 1 laugh.gif I ended up getting Stranger Than Fiction, Out of Africa (I've never seen it!) and Win A Date With Tad Hamilton (I know, I know- I usually don't get movies like that- but I've always wanted to see it tongue.gif )

Actually Narnia was not an LotR rip-off. J.R.R Tolkien and C.S Lewis were good friends. So it wasn't a ripoff and actually was written about the same time.

No 'Bridge to Terabithia' tonight, but we'll probably pick it up tommorow. I just noticed that Zooey Deschanel is in it. We will definetly be getting it tommorow.

Actually, that's exactly how she looked in this movie. In some scenes, she's a radiant queen. In others, a wife with health issues. Overall, she looked good. They both got to show off their chops in this one.

I saw that documentary when Narnia came out too. Tolkien was actually upset with his friend for blatantly stealing from the Bible and pretending that it was an original piece of work.

I managed to put away 800 dvd's so far......i have about another 2000 or so to go.
Are you aware that if you stopped buying movies today, and you watched a movie a day, that it would take you almost eight years to watch all of them? I ran into that problem when my music and movie collection started to become too unruly. I'm just trying to save you from the same mistake. Rentals are much cheaper, especially if you're only going to watch it once every five years or so. By the time you get around to some of them, they'll already be out on a new format...Those jerks.

EVAN ALMIGHTY IS THE BEST EVER!

It was soo much better than Bruce stupid Almighty!!

Steve Carrell was awesome, compared to Jim Carrey, he is like the master of comedians.

I genuinely felt bad for him and was close to tears.

Everyone here should see it, if they are true Office fans, go to the theater and buy a ticket. After all, it is Michael Scott.

I don't necessarily agree with this. I live in NYC, where a movie for two costs $22.00 without soda and popcorn. We decide what movies to go see based on if they are "$22.00 movies" as we call them. If we are not sure, we go to a Sat matinee and spend $16.00. If we can wait, we wait. Blades of Glory was a $22.00 movie. 40 Year Old Virgin was a $22.00 movie. Stranger than Fiction & Knocked Up were $16.00 movies. And we just saw Music & Lyrics for $3.99 on Direct TV pay per view and that was about right, too.

I believe you can support an actor, but if you are not genuinely interested in the story, there is no point in throwing your money away. Being an Office fan has nothing to do with watching a reenactment of Noah's Ark. We have deemed this one a wait-for-it-on-cable movie.

All that being said, it is great that you liked it!!

My hubby and I went out on Friday night with another couple to watch Evan Almighty. It was a great movie, especially because it's a family movie, which we loved and I thought it was great how they could take a story from the Bible and use it in a modern day story. Steve was awesome, as was Morgan Freeman and "Steve's" assistant. It was very cute, funny, clean, and a good movie to entertain. I'd recommend it, however $22 is an awful lot of money to spend on a movie. We spent about $18, but we were eagerly waiting for it to open, so it was worth it smile.gif.

Sorry but a fan can see and SPEND their money as they see fit if they choose to see any actors movie.

Personally I am waiting for Evan & License to get to the cheapy movie theater since I have to pay for 4 tickets. Unless someone wants to send me $9.00 per person for 4 people times those 2 movies, then sure.

Alot of times I see movies online and when the dvd comes out I spend my $$ there usually on the special editions if available.

p.s. Wedd I bought M&L on PPV and recorded it too, I watched most of it and liked it and it will give me 90 minutes of quiet some afternoon when the girls watch it.

Know what else gets me? M&L came out on 2/14. It came out on DVD 5/8. Less than three months later I could have purchased it for the cost of seeing it in the theater. One month after that, I bought it for $3.99 + tax and recorded it. So why spend $22 in Feb when I can own it for $4 four months later?

Don't get me wrong, we go to the movies a lot, probably more than any other couple we know, but we have to really not be able to wait for something to come out on DVD--Blades Of Glory, 40 Year Old, Knocked Up, Rocky Balboa (that was awesome to see in a theater!!) If I'm not really psyched about it, I won't see it. We already discussed License to Wed and we decided that Robin Williams is not $22 worth of annoying!!

Last night I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's. Wow, I totally love that film. Supposedly Eva Novak & Marilyn Monroe were considered for the role of Holly but I just can't imagine anyone else but Audrey Hepburn playing her. Holly is the fictional epitome of a glamour, chic women. She made a turtleneck & pair of pants look marvelous. There was the black dress in the beginning, the pink cocktail dress, the trenchcoat, the hat, the shades etc. Out of every single film produced, BaT contained the greatest articles of clothing. I love the ending so much & my heart nearly explodes from happiness everytime I watch it. I want to be kissed in the rain like the way Holly was kissed by Paul wub.gif. The film is like an emotional rollercoaster. You laugh. You smile. You cry. Absolutely brilliant & an absolute classic. This is a film that belongs in every DVD collection.

I also may check out "Evan" too. However, ever since I discovered TCM my interest for modern films has gotten smaller & smaller...

You know- I started watching this and ended up not liking it. And it wasn't the "political message" I got really creeped out by the relationship between the 2 main characters. I waited for POTC3 to hit the discount price and still I was hugely disappointed. I actually curled up a few times in pain having to watch keria knightly be the hero. Why?? I find her slack-jawed accent annoying. If you get her and elizabeth hurely into a conversation good luck! It was just too long, not enough depp once again and too much story. Yeah too much story. Then just when I thought they couldn't pound the awfulness in anymore, no they work in attack of the 50 ft woman, who then turns into a gazillion crabs. Atleast in 4 they can't bring in bloom and knightly.

I agree with you 100%, Liz. My husband and I went to see it and thought it was pretty bad. They tried to do way too much with this one - comedy, romance, action, etc. My husband almost threw a fit when they were exchanging vows during a fight... in a whirlpool... it was just ridiculous. I really love old movies too (AMC and TCM are great!), but Breakfast at Tiffany's never really caught my attention. I think it's because it starts out really slow or something. I should try to watch it again soon, especially since you peoples are saying it's such a good movie smile.gif.
